it's b/c Claude has gotten enterprise interest while chatgpt is more retail & bundled (i.e. you're an Azure customer not a chatGPT customer).
Open AI buying windsurf is essentially to prevent Anthropic from doing it- cause windsurf is the enterprise version of cursor. I don't know any individual devs who pick windsurf over cursor, only corporations who buy a big bundle of windsurf and then internal devs use it.
So its more of an enterprise defense play, than a "this product is better / aligned" play.
GitHub is one an only while there are tons of windsurf copies
