LobsterDAO 🦞

Is this specific to some contracts ?

Agree with those points!

as far as launchpad things go, I think they've done a crazy good job of giving people an opportunity to make their own token easily, potentially change their lives, etc, and obviously it's worked for some folks. a token sale is often a way to take money off the table for the team, in some way or another - and tbh I'd kind of rather they do that to rich people who can afford to be extracted from than poor who can't.

this was sybiled all to Hell is the issue

Because at least IMHO participatory ownership of the individual (and not just the whale) is kind of the goal of all of this? And while I equally dislike pumpfun, I was hoping they'd at least do something interesting here.

what design would you have suggested, that couldn't be easily sybiled?

That's what I meant with poor design. Ok got it.

Especially if it's big, why only 8k small investors?

LobsterDAO 🦞

not many/any ICOs I'm aware of these days can raise $500m+ with just small investors evenly distributed each getting $400 alloc ya know

179 $1m+ people, and 8200 <$1k people - I don't really follow most of what your message is saying

Agree with this. We were extremely active in sponsoring hackathons for ~2 years and have since ceased entirely. ROI was very poor.

For example, when it comes to meme tokens, market making is often handled by a single MM whose primary goal is to provide baseline liquidity and shape a price chart that resembles that of a more 'legitimate' token — at least temporarily.

In contrast, for mature tokens with multiple listings on both CEXs and DEXs, the goals are different. Here, market making becomes much more execution-sensitive, with strong emphasis on latency and the execution layer. In such cases, speed is critical, as you need to avoid being picked off by arbitrageurs operating across fragmented liquidity venues.

You're not explicitly asking for advice, but a more specific question would yield more targeted insights. The market makers you've mentioned operate across heterogeneous environments — some on centralized exchanges with off-chain matching engines, others on decentralized venues using on-chain execution models like AMMs or hybrid order books. Their strategies vary significantly based on execution layer (L1 vs L2), latency requirements, MEV exposure, gas efficiency, and cross-chain interoperability. Without narrowing the context — e.g., specifying the venue, asset class, or execution model — it's difficult to generalize their approach.

someone trying to trigger initialize on any OZ role based access control contract - the calls are triggered from a cron-like job by looks of it

We caught a strange anomaly on etherscan and investigated directly through the RPC as I don’t trust frontends in these sort of cases. Our contract was initialised correctly so this person’s txn was indeed failed with NotAuthorised - some have gone through on other people’s contracts it seems

Not sure what they were trying to achieve but glad I roll all my contract calls in a single solidity script

idk why there needs to be a token here to begin with, but - this is crypto :)

regular users will almost certainly get an airdrop (so there's some distribution) but the vast majority of that would go to those who know how to sybil pump token creations almost certainly

Like preferential access for active users, interesting auction designs, IDK, this seems crazy dull compared to OG ICOs

(also, why is it being evenly distributed among a zillion people important anyway?)

this wasn't some private round. I can't believe I'm defending pumpfun here who I am very much not a fan of, but I think criticizing this raise which was available to all who had $10 and was in the right jurisdiction lands odd.

only 8k small investors were sat at their computer and pressed the button and did the kyc

if this was a $20m raise I'd see the argument but with this size I don't really follow it

the distribution is skewed to whales (plus the private investors), other ICOs had caps per participants which led to a more uniform distribution.

I'm curious why this sale was centralized in so few hands, was there some mechanism that prevented small investors from getting in unless they can provide proof of blood link to Trump or what?
Are there generally just 15k people interested in junk token trading (but they are very rich)? I thought that everyone who's trading pump ponzu would basically want to invest and I was expecting that number to be >10x higher.
Or was distribution designed poorly so only few (mostly whales) got in?

A good mentor of mine once said "Being an innovator means, everything you operate in is gray - not black and not white - you just need to be exactly sure what type of gray you are in".
for sure they all have some oversight - but it also depends how they argument their actions to the authorities.

MM mostly operate via RFQ model structures - mostly present via solvers of 1inch or cowswap. Thats also how they operate OTC - they evaluate the OTC price compared to what would be the liquidation price on the current overall markets they are active (the cexs & dexs) and if the spread is high enough, they take the otc deal - typically liquidating soonish (first 3 days) 30% with profit to reduce risks.
The basic MM model is arbitrage trading - where if they see a price difference between 2 markets, that if they buy in one, bridge it, and sell it again, they make profits.

Thanks. Do you know any other telegram group with more technical discussions like that I asked you? I am also interested of how exactly Market Makers operate like wintermute, Cicada, DWF etc. How they interact with DEXs and how they implement the over the counter transactions.
