On Workout Motivation
If this post didn't do it for you then I have a motivational technique that might.
This works in every domain not only working out and fitness.
You need to drill down to core emotional drivers.
Brainstorm the benefits of (in this case) working out. Discard any without emotional resonance.
This is my tree of reasons until I hit emotional resonance, yours will likely be completely different.
My physical fitness/strength motivation tree is:
Be more attractive [Discarded. idgaf. No emotional resonance]
Be healthier [Discarded. I already do cardio. No emotional resonance]
Be able to protect myself [Some emotional resonance but not there yet so expand]
Be able to protect others AND have the endurance to hike for long periods to be in nature.
So they're the prime motivators. Protect others and build endurance to better enjoy hikes.
Write yours down or use whatever reminder system works for you. Read it and feel it to jumpstart your motivation on hard days.

HNH please indulge me in my pseudo-intellectual response.
Western men live in a world without meaning or tradition. The modern world has inverted long-held values, spat on ancient traditions.
So, in this modern world, men who cannot and will not accept the feminized hyperconsumer-culture search for an existential meaning. You, HNH, and many others like you caused this crisis and continue to feed the beast.
What meaning can a man find in a world in which he is told he has no value?
He can find meaning in the act itself. The act is to do a pushup. The act is to do that pullup. The act is to do an act of Will. You laughed at God so an act of Will, the practice of will, gives meaning to life without a need for an appeal to metaphysics.
Why do a pushup? Because I can. Because I do not feel that I want to do it but do it anyway. We exercise our bodies but more importantly we exercise our Will. Why? Because we can. That Will, that ability to act, grows and as a side effect our muscles grow stronger.
But why post physique? Because it is the nature of men to want a brotherhood. The fitness channels that you HNH seethe at while sipping your soy latte are a brotherhood - a positive environment, especially for men starved of positive environments and positive words. They encourage, guide, critique and praise.
