In the last #DeFiBreakdown episode of 2022, let's talk about Liquid Staking Derivatives (LSD)✅
Liquid Staking Derivative (LSD) presents a way to compose the assets across the ecosystem.
To be more detailed, Liquid staking is able to retain your tokens' liquidity despite being staked by minting a token that represents the staked coins, which allows you to earn staking rewards while being able to trade & earn yield across other DeFi products.
This definitely brings more benefits, however, there are still several threats to the current models of LSD. But with active research, new possibilities are being unlocked for a truly efficient market.
According to DefiLlama, there is about $8.5b in liquid staking protocols across many blockchains. With $5.99b of Total Value Locked (TVL), Lido Finance makes up almost 70% of the liquid staking market, most of which comes from the Ethereum pool.
