Anyone noticed how Google did not have a Father's day doodle?

They will have a doodle for just about everything, including international sloth day, but will never have one for Father's day.

Hii I'm a a lifelong Feminist looking to gain a greater understanding of the concerns men have and how we can work together. I was thinking of starting a groupchat so I can hear your experiences?

As the title said, my name is Imogen I'm 25 and have believed in feminism as long as i have been socially aware. The form I have always practiced is effectively promoting equity and fair treatment of women by tackling gendered and sexist thoughts/practices/behaviours etc. I also believe we should tackle issues that affect men predominantly too, and that's not incompatible with how i practice feminism. But to me, it's important to recognise both have unique challenges that require a focused approach. So if anyone would like to know more, just as i do with this group, please let me know 🥰

Can Someone Please Explain to Me How the Modern Term "Patriarchy" Is Not a Form of Hate Speech?

I'm asking this question seriously and in good faith.

I'm here in part researching and connecting how certain words evolve over time. Many begin with a literal, historical, or technical meaning before developing broader colloquial meanings once they enter public discourse.

What interests me about patriarchy is that it appears to have undergone exactly that process.

Historically, the word referred to systems of male authority, paternal lineage, or social structures in which fathers and male relatives held formal power. Whether one agrees with the concept or not, it described a particular social arrangement.

Today, however, the term is often used far more broadly. In everyday discussion, people attribute a wide range of social problems, religious doctrines, sacred interpretations, institutions, attitudes, behaviors, and outcomes to "the patriarchy."

That expansion is where I'm at.

Many of the norms now described as patriarchal were historically transmitted through religion, law, custom, family structure, inheritance rules, moral codes, marriage expectations, and claims about divine order. They were not always presented merely as “what men wanted.” They were often presented as what God wanted, what nature required, what tradition demanded, or what society depended on.

So when modern discourse says “patriarchy,” what exactly is being named?

Is it "all men"? Is it #NotAllMen? Is it fathers? How about religion? Is it law? Is it custom? Is it a ratio of some sorts?

Supporters of the concept often argue that patriarchy refers to a system of gendered oppression, not to men as individuals.

I understand that answer in theory. But I am not seeing that distinction survive contact with public discourse.

If a term absorbs religion, law, culture, family hierarchy, sexual morality, economics, and social expectation, but is still linguistically rooted in male authority and fatherhood, then it seems reasonable to ask whether the term carries more demographic weight than its defenders acknowledge.

My concern is that patriarchy has evolved beyond its original analytical meaning. In practice, it often speaks to a natural fear of one particular gender and a natural defensiveness in another. Fear can become contempt, contempt can become hatred and so on.

Public discourse today already appears increasingly characterized by gender polarization, mutual suspicion, and competing narratives of grievance. Whether "the patriarchy" contributed to these developments is debatable, but they do raise the question of how the term is actually being received outside academic contexts.

If a concept consistently produces those dynamics, is it functioning solely as an analytical framework, or is it also functioning as a form of group-directed blame?

So then: at what point does a structural concept become an indictment of a demographic group?

If many of the harms now attributed to patriarchy were historically enforced through religious institutions, sacred texts, legal codes, and cultural traditions, why does the moral focus so often settle on a term that sounds, to many people, like an accusation against men?

Again, I understand the standard response: “Patriarchy is a system, not men.”

But my question is whether that distinction remains meaningful once the term leaves academic settings and enters journalism, politics, education, social media, and everyday conversation.

If large numbers of people hear “men” when others say “patriarchy,” should that matter?

And if large portions of what we call patriarchy were historically justified through religion, law, and inherited moral systems, does the term clarify responsibility, or does it deflect it?

I'm interested in thoughtful responses from people who support the concept as well as those who criticize it. Full disclosure, yes I am seeking opinions form many different subs. I hope all is well with each of you!

"I agree with you that female on male violence is equally wrong. I disagree with you that it would be at the same systemic scale as male on female violence."

Found this quote on Reddit just earlier. WTF. I know I rant about this sort of thing often, but just how in the Hell is male-on-female violence on a "systemic scale?" Implying that somehow male violence is a law and every man/boy is supposed to be violent against any female. I know I shouldn't be upset by random internet morons like this who spout this sort of drivel, but damn. Just when you think someone can't be more ignorant and stupid. Somehow the fact this person acknowledges female on male violence but then claims it's not "systemic" like it's counterpart in some ways is even worse than denying it since this person is basically making it out to be a non-issue and not something that's of concern. I hate this, always making things into a competition between the genders and throwing around stupid terms like "systemic." It's so infuriating and frustrating.

Men should boycott BBC

BBC is the most feminist and misandrist channel on earth, their programs focus on women's issues, the news are presented by women most of the time who talk to female correspondents and even those female correspondents talk mostly to women on the street

All BBC care about is women's opinions, women's issues, female presenters.

If a man appears on BBC usually it is a man of Indian or Asian or African descent.

politik not good faith logical argument via thesis vs antithesis. Hence the tone is slightly acerbic above.

2. The reply is very incomplete as I do not list all the Umbrella terms within Feminism and thus leaves a mild sense of frustration in the post - apologies if that is evident while reading. But brevity is importantly for the main argument.

3. I posit s profound prediction that Feminism based on fallacy itself is exploited and will ultimately become self-defeating to the group of advocates who hold to it.

4. Finally, some women have recently posited this concept of “female collective bargaining” who are academics and begun to question if Feminism is ultimately destructive (I will dig this link up eventually).

Got accused of SA (I am in 7th grade)

So it happened a few weeks ago. I had broken up with my ex. Let’s call her Evianny. Now, Evianny has a first cousin who is an eighth grader. Joshua. And after school, I was walking with my friends Ray and Alexander. Then Joshua and some friends came and pressed us. Evianny had said I had grabbed her boobs. First of all, multiple guys in my class said that I wanted nothing to do with her and was trying to stay away from her (I share a class with her). Second, I stayed with two guys at all times. Third, I made it clear to my counselor that I no longer WANTED ANYTHING TO DO WITH EVIANNY. And now I’m being labeled as some pervert. Even though literally every boy in my class said HE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING TO HER. Evianny is one of those honors kids. 90s in every class. So the teachers and admins believed her. I was shouted at in the main office, and I was in tears. My mom also yelled at me, but my dad and my uncle took my side and came up to the school. It was a long period of suffering, but eventually my innocence was proven by video footage. NOTHING HAPPENED TO EVIANNY. AT ALL. She was let out SCOT FREE. Meanwhile, I am socially DESTROYED outside my friend group. Luckily, the guys I have are LOYAL. I know others are not so lucky.

Is the new UK bill about marriage absolute or it has reliefs?

So UK recently announced the changes.. but I have few questions:

1) If your wife cheats on you, is that a ground that may nullify it?

2) If your wife forces you to divorce by say being emotionally off, no intimacy, other valid violation of boundaries or changing what you all had decided before like habing kids etc..

3) Is it binary like if she doens't have a job, she gets the share, but if she has a job she doesn't?

4) What if the house is not fully paid for? Let's say the man was paying the house in small sums each month, what happens then?

The Positive Impacts Fiction can have on Gender Movements

Stories allow people to inhabit experiences that are not their own.

The Handmaid's Tale became so culturally influential b/c it translated a set of social fears into a narrative people could feel.

What would a story look like if it explored male disposability, conditional worth thru the same lens?

My result is a dystopian novella called Beckon the Butler.

A town where to want is dangerous, and to be unwanted is fatal.

Chapter One ("Bang") is here:

ipsteak/beckon-the-butler-chapter-one-bang-b22ce72280a6">ipsteak/beckon-the-butler-chapter-one-bang-b22ce72280a6" rel="nofollow">https://medium.com/@ipsteak/beckon-the-butler-chapter-one-bang-b22ce72280a6

I'd love feedback from this community, not only on the writing itself, but on the broader question:

Can fiction help men's advocacy in the same way it has helped other social movements?

Is "Women And Girls" Hate Speech?

I've said before numerous times how I hate the "women and children" rhetoric and narrative for how it's blatantly misandrist and exclusionary of men, not only de-valuing their lives but also infantalizing women. However in recent times the phrase has now morphed to "women and girls" and there's just something truly infuriating and cruel about how not even boys are having their rights and safety taken into account, and it's made out that not even a boy who's just learning to live in the world matters. A boy can be a victim of a crime or can even die, and what happened to him apparently won't even matter and his family's grief and sorrow won't be an issue. I despise it so much. It's bad enough for so long men have been treated as not mattering if anything bad happens to them, but now for that to extend to young boys? That's just something truly evil about that.

It might be a stretch to call "women and girls" hate speech, but it sure doesn't promote inclusivity and fairness for sure. It's like being male makes your life worthless and not worth caring about, and it's no major problem if something bad happens.

Father's Day

I am glad to see that father's day has been acknowledged a good bit this year (more than most years, I feel).

I've seen really sweet father's day ads in sainsburys (a supermarket). I've heard so many people talk about it. They had a bbq event for it today in a park in my town. They mentioned it a fair bit in the world cup broadcast today on UK TV (mind you, the woman mentioning it on the broadcast did manage to find a way to make it ultimately probably more or as much about herself). Despite that last part, I'm pleasantly surprised to see far more appreciation for father's this year than I can ever personally recall seeing.

I’m an ugly 39M guy and women are getting vindictive towards me for declining to be their backup plan.

I get that I am ugly but I am entering into a a situation I never would had thought of.

I’m ugly BUT I am a good man with a good career. Have my own house, nice car, etc.

I haven’t really dated and pretty much have sworn it off entirely.

Oddly enough, I am getting approached by women now. But it’s not what you think. All these women are not interested in me, they’re interested in my resources. They view me as a security backup plan.

The problem is, I think these women are shocked that I decline being a “backup” entirely. I think to them, a ugly guy like me is easy pickings for them since they think I would gladly sign up but when I don’t even entertain the idea and respond with “thank you but I am going to decline” has lead these women to go all out to destroy me personally, financially and even one legally.

I haven’t slept with any of these women, never even dated them or anything. Just me saying “no” to take interest has led to lash out.

I have had 2 women so far accuse me of horrible things even though I never interacted with them in a non professional way. No dates, no anything yet these women completely fabricated stories up about our interactions, interactions that we never had.

One was completely caught lying specifically with a text saying “a guy like him needs to get punished thinking he can say no.”

What’s going on? I am getting very bothered by this childish mentality. It’s women my age specifically.

I might be ugly but it doesn’t mean I am willing to sign up for anything I can get. I have a lot of self respect for myself.

I am not sure if any other guy has been experiencing this or it’s just me?

Washington state: this is a state that I would suggest never living in. They(state government) do everyone dirty.

Got into an argument one night back in 2020 with my ex she takes my daughter leaves. I haven’t had any contact with my daughter since because of hearsay in the state of Washington granting no contact orders for this so-called woman yeah I live 2200 miles away and the state wants to grant a no contact order saying that she feels unsafe while I’m over here in Indiana and have started a whole new life. She doesn’t want any contact with my daughter happening yet she’s always concerned about child support and has the state over here. Demanding I pay child support or they’re gonna put me in custody and on top of that. The state has a new fee for dealing with child support so one state wants to keep me from seeing my daughter by granting no contact orders for some woman I give no shit about and the other wants me to pay for a child that I’m not able to see.

Can someone put this into context for me to where it makes sense?

I still think that many people underestimate just how many women would actually have more empathy for men if they were truly aware of what men go through

I recently saw an increased number of women saying that they truly didn't realise what men go through on a regural basis and it made me think about how there is probably a lot more women who actually have no idea what issues men face and are simply ignorant.

Now I fully understand that there are plenty of the actually fascist female feminists who fully understand what they're doing and want society to stay the way it is so they can keep benefiting from it.

But I still think a lot of people underestimate how many of them are women who simply bought into all of the propaganda considering it's everywhere, In Schools, in the media, in literature and on social media where algorhitms are in many cases more likely to show feminist content to women that paints a one sided picture that makes it seem like not being taken seriosuly in leadership roles is the worst thing that can ever happen to someone.

So I still think there is a chance to take some of these women out of the movement and that we should differentiate between those feminists and the actually fascist ones.

Please critique this take on Feminism

This was originally posted in response to a post here on Feminism ASKING for a debate with people who reject the entire notion of Feminism.

Yet mysteriously both the post and user account suddenly deleted.

I would like feedback on this critique of Feminism, noting the core argument that Feminism is an UMBRELLA term not a single definition:

Argument:

The first step in most debates is often the simplest and most ignored:

* Define your terms - precisely.

”Feminist” as such has not a single exact definition but in point of fact a whole RANGE of meanings.

To state the obvious, explicitly and up front, it is categorically an UMBRELLA term in the same way Trans- is 100% an UMBRELLA term not a definition.

Stating the above, we are already off to a more useful start than 99% of these discussions.

The second step would be to short list the full range for reference or context. Seeing as this is Reddit however concessions to low attention span must be invoked here. We will skip this step as discussion or Project for a Rainy Day, invitees to this project please go on ahead here, without us.

The third step (short cut) is to take the general most applicable meaning of “Feminist” AS IT IS MOST INADVERTENTLY used, and visible most of the time in news-media.

* Definition: “Feminism“ = Female Collective Bargaining behaviour (in modern times politically in tribal past times, social politics of group power).

Just to be clear other definitions also exist, this is not a monopoly of meaning. But it is most constructive because it clearly describes the “behaviour” dynamics and how THAT shapes policy and politics independent of logical arguments derived from first principles or premises.

Let’s take two examples to contrast this:

* Female Sexual Reproductive Biology leads to NECESSARY higher Medical Funding than equivalent male version. This is a scientific fact. Here “Feminism” can be argued from premises coherently 100%.

* Glass Ceiling Rhetoric in Equality Laws in Work Places on “Unequal Salaries”. This is the deceptive real politik of female collective bartering. Thomas Sewell has studied this from the 70’s iirc and debunked it all the way back then but the argument is still used today in 2026!

Note the above is a snapshot (step 2) for necessary brevity.

But even a snapshot is sufficient for common sense to conclude albeit short of verification:

Conclusion: Feminism was a practical ideology when women had less rights in the past eg vote, work etc. In modern times it has become co-opted by older social dynamics in humans at scale in politics as a group self-interest seeking via polemics which fits female group psychology for personal gain. Where Feminism is functional eg Medicine it is redundant as factually self-apparent. Hence Feminism is logically deficient as most often used:

1. Copted group politics aka populism version within women.
2. Redundant from left over from past conditions.
3. Worst of all co-opted by global agenda for lowering fertility rates of women thenskeves via their own short-sighted emotional demands.

The final logical deficiency is a surprise fortune cookie: It is descriptive and predictive of the failure of people who willingly deal in fallacies - ultimately such behaviour becomes self-defeating.

Please note, ending on a signficant warning still leaves ample rule for exploration positively (see step 2).

If you wish to critique or question or develop from the above please feel free to do.

Note, Men’s Rights overall (not exclusively) seems more a product of response to the unfair skew of priority in politics caused by this form of Feminism in the West (supported enormously by global institutions eg UN et al and bankrolled as such). As such to understand Feminism is critical this counter-movement itself in need of a fundamental factually grounded basis aside from a counter movement to be of any lasting good for men.

=

Commentary:

1. I reject the majority of motions based on Feminism as above as meta-behaviour for personal or group advantage aka real

Proud of being a man for the first time

I have been reflecting upon this thought for some weeks. I grew up without a father in a house full of unstable women. Whenever one of them was in a bad mood, they made sure that the entire place felt like they were feeling.

I never felt proud of being a man; if anything, I actually felt ashamed. Around me, at school, at home, at university, all I heard was how bad and oppressing men were, how we are literally the root of all evil, and I believed it.

Thus I hated myself, I thought I was gay because people told me all my life I was a bit effeminate; however, I was never attracted to men, I had what you could call feminine mannerism for growing 23 years of my life only around women. I thought I had no masculinity inside me, until I started reading and looking as much inwards as outwards at other men.

I could write more, but what I wanted to say is that, for the first time in my life, I feel so proud of being a man. I feel proud because everything that surrounds me, the computer I am writing this on, the building I live in, the technology I use was built thanks to the intellectual and physical work of millions of men that came before me. Because I am part of their lineage, and without them, society would not be; as matter of fact nothing would be and us humans would be extinct by now.

We carry within a connection to men like Marcus Aurelius, Jung, Nietzsche, Hesse, Debussy, Da Vinci and list goes on and on. All of them men! How could we not be proud of that?

To all men out there, never let women or other men villainize you. You are by nature a being that was built for resilience, not only physical but also mental. You are built to lead and to govern with authority and responsibility,. Govern your own life with that masculine energy (easier said that done). I know the world hates you, but this is what we are built for, to keep going even though all odds are against us.

Peace

Question: False Confessions Led to Firing and Systemic Oppression

CW: references to SA and CSA (NSFW)

I was reviewing some documents and came across an instance of what might possibly be an attempt at gaslighting in order to extract a false confession in an institutional context. The authority figure in the power position is speaking to a much younger student. Here is the excerpt, with names and dates obscured, the planted suggestions in italics (or single asterisk quotes depending on the OS formatting):

\> W met with N, student at X, and *told her that she had been >!sexually assaulted!< by C* and should see a school counselor. **After N denied she had been >!assaulted!<**, W asked N for information on *any possible legal improprieties C may have committed against >!his own children!<.* C says that W made these statements to N in (date redacted). He claims they are false because he "did not >!sexually assault!< N."

Needless to say no accounts of >!child abuse!< ever came out of this investigation. The accused employee did lose his employment. He was a single parent with children, living off food stamps (SNAP) and working two jobs at the school. He's been blackballed from his trained field since this happened over a decade ago. I don't know these people personally. I just see a pattern of systemic oppression in this case. I'm asking to see if this type of manipulation against someone's reputation is getting enough visibility, if this is important enough to improve advocacy for single fathers who are targeted in this manner. Thank you for your consideration.
