Further to my earlier point: in 2004 UKIP came third in the European Parliamentary elections winning 12 seats. One of the candidates who was successful was Robert Kilroy-Silk, a popular BBC daytime chat show host. He fell out with Nigel Farage shortly after being elected and left UKIP to form Veritas, another Eurosceptic party. He took with him at least one other UKIP MEP and a UKIP London Assmebly member. By 2005 Veritas was dead in the water and Kilroy-Silk gave up on the project. The Eurosceptic and soft anti-migration right has always been prone to this drama, and has always rebounded and regrouped around the latest Farage project. What we are seeing with Rupert Lowe is more of the same.

It's quite amazing how many people have opinions on Nigel Farage yet know very little about him.
Farage is one of the most influential political figures of the 21st Century.
Farage is the only man in the UK to lead a minor political party to victory in a major national election - a feat he achieved not once, but twice, with two different parties (UKIP and the Brexit Party). Farage won the European Parliamentary election in both 2014 and 2019, defeating both the Conservatives and Labour.
Farage was obviously the man who brought about both the Brexit referendum and helped the leave vote to win. This was one of the most pivotal moments in post-war politics.
Finally, Farage is the only anti-immigration politician to ever lead a party that has won parliamentary seats. This is something that Mosley, the National Front and the BNP all failed to achieve.
Now people are writing about him as if he is some buffoon holding back Reform. He may not be exactly what nationalists want, but trying to claim he isn't wildly successful is uniformed nonsense.

He will likely welcome Tommy Robinson, Ben Habib faction of ex Reform and many social media influencers like Sargon/Paul Thorpe/Jeff Taylor etc.

Can’t sleep so catching up on the Reform/Rupert Lowe stuff and it’s reminded me how utterly repetitive and tedious I find electoral politics. Every now and again some nationalist/patriotic party will get a bit of a boost only to be damaged by egos, infighting and stupid decisions. Meanwhile a dozen nationalist micro parties all compete for attention instead of working together. Some of them won’t stand anybody, they’ll just talk about what they’re gonna do, and those who do stand people get 1% of the vote if they’re lucky. In addition, for many, their politics and ideals are watered down and they betray their initial intentions in order to keep their positions and abide by ever changing “diversity and inclusion” laws.
Now you might think I’m being defeatist but really I’m not, and that’s because I didn’t put all my faith and effort over the last few years into thinking we’re going to vote our way to victory. Patriotic Alternative offers something different to everybody else. We don’t just believe in taking part in the system that’s been set up by our enemies, we believe in building something ourselves. We’ll win by building communities, unapologetically advocating for ourselves, creating parallel structures, influencing public discourse and action, and by engaging in top tier activism that makes things better for our people, not by repeating the same cycles and mistakes that we’ve ran through for decades already.
People need to bear in mind, in 2009 UKIP came second in the European Parliamentary election, they took 13 seats. By the time of the next European Parliamentary election in 2014 they had lost 45 per cent of their MEPs to defection and the party appeared to be riven by splits and disharmony. UKIP went on to win the 2014 European Parliamentary election, taking 24 seats and prompting David Cameron to propose a referendum on Britain's membership of the EU.

A lot of people are already discussing the death of Reform because of the Rupert Lowe issue. Never underestimate Farage and the media's ability to resurrect his projects and parties. UKIP always used to do very well at European elections, only to suffer a number of high profile defections and splits due to personality clashes. Come the next European election the media would build them up and out of nowhere they would dominate talk shows and political discussions in order to hoover up all the right-of-centre votes. I remember this happening in 2004 and 2009! Those who have been involved in politics for more than a couple of years know that Nigel Farage is like a cat, he has nine lives and always lands on his feet!
