The importance of this post cannot be underestimated. This is a former government minister admitting that whilst ethnic minorities can attain British citizenship, they cannot become English as English is an ethnicity.
Nationalists who have been taken to court over stickers and online posts have had the issue of English ethnicity thrown at them as 'proof' that they are 'racist' - any prosecutor would find this far more difficult now. The Overton window is shifting, and former ministers acknowledging that the English are a distinct ethnic group is a massive step forward.

A little health update..
So, after being discharged from hospital 2 weeks ago, with clear blood scans, chest xrays and swab tests, the understanding was I had a viral infection that would get better over the coming days and weeks..
Sadly that wasn't the case, things got progressively worse to the point that breathing became dangerously difficult. I was readmitted to hospital and a whole new batch of tests carried out.
Turns out, that a compromised immune system caused by the steroids prescribed has led to, full blown Flu type A, and a rather nasty case of pneumonia. Both the flu and pneumonia will take a little while to kick, but once I'm over them, it doesn't look like there are any further issues..
So I'm hoping to be out of hospital Thursday, and a few weeks taking it easy until things can return to normal..
There's an attack involving a machete every hour in the UK. This kind of incident is not a one off.
