Okay so mattata previously relied on the update.message.from user object for plugins to work in channels, and before it would only respond in channels if the Sign Messages option was enabled in the channel settings. It appears since the last update to the bot API, there is never an update.message.from object (perhaps for privacy reasons?) in channel posts, just an author_signature field - I'm yet to work out whether they were supposed to do that or if they just made a mistake, since there's no mention of the removal of the update.message.from object from channel posts.

Version 27.0 of mattata will be quite an extensive re-write, separating mattata.lua into 2, maybe 3 specific parts of the core. At the moment I'm moving miscellaneous functions from mattata.lua into a new file called utils.lua!

For people having issues with turning off the AI, it's as simple as sending "/plugins@mattatabot", then making sure there is a red X next to ai - mattata will then no longer respond! #ai #faq
