A low, pulsing synth drone fades in (think John Carpenter meets Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein). Slow, deliberate arpeggios on an analog synth. The screen stays black for 3 full seconds — just the sound and a faint red glow bleeding in from the edges.
Suddenly:
BOOM. A single, blood-red neon letter punches onto screen with a sharp VHS tracking glitch.
“S”
It flickers, distorts, warbles like bad tape. A second letter slams in from the left.
“T”
Then “R” from the right. “A” drops from the top. “N” rises from the bottom. Each letter hits with a low distorted impact sound and a burst of crimson light that bleeds outward like ink in water.
The full word “STRANGER” now floats in the center, glowing, breathing, letters trembling slightly as if alive. Tiny white specks (VHS noise) dance across the surface.
A sudden bass swell. The camera pushes in violently as the word “THINGS” explodes underneath in the iconic bold, italicized red font with black outline and subtle chromatic aberration.
The two words lock together:
STRANGER
THINGS
White lightning cracks across the screen. The title violently distorts, bends, and warps (demogorgon roar subtly mixed under the synth sting).
Cut to quick flash-cuts in blood-red silhouette:
- A flickering streetlamp in the Hawkins woods
- An upside-down bicycle
- Christmas lights spelling something in Morse
- Eleven’s nosebleed
