When people ask, ‘How are you?’
I find it such a moving phrase.
I would stop for hours to answer them, and then I realise that it's just a way to break the ice and move on to something else.
Stopping is a great art, a humble art.
It is the art of sensing when we are tired or when we need to walk slowly towards ourselves and not towards something else or someone else.
Stopping means listening to the beat of things, hearing the silence and its nuances.
We live in a universe that never stops expanding, and we pretend nothing is happening.
Stopping helps us to admit a little more that we are in the midst of something very strange.

I believe that the key to staying in love is being grateful.
When you have something beautiful, when you have someone special by your side, don't look for something better.
I have learned that the best relationships are those where you never give up on each other.
We live in an age where it is all too easy to turn the page and give up when things get tough.
Don't do it. Cherish what you have, fight for what you love, yes, that story that says, “We made it to the end”.
And all this because we never gave up.
We never turned our backs on each other, we never abandoned the love we had found.
We made it to the end because every single day we remembered how incredibly lucky we were.

The problem is that you realize the value of things when they are gone.
You miss that voice, but when it was there, you took it for granted.
You miss that message, but when it arrived, you replied distractedly.
You miss that place,
but when you lived there, you just wanted to leave.
The truth is that certain things seem normal until they become memories, and when that happens, there's nothing you can do about it.
But maybe you can do something about it right now, at this very moment.
Look around you. Who is really in your life?
Who loves you even in the silence?
What makes you feel good even if you don't think about it?
Because one day everything will be different, and you'll find yourself saying:
“It was all there in front of me, and I didn't notice.”

La porta verso la felicità

Siamo costantemente incoraggiati a rifiutare ciò che è spiacevole, deludente o difficile.

“Perché tutta questa sofferenza?
Cerchiamo di essere felici!
Divertiamoci!”

(monaco buddhista statunitense)
“Concezioni di felicità”

🙏

Gateway to Happiness

We are constantly encouraged to reject what is unpleasant, disappointing or difficult.

'What's all this suffering?
Let's be happy!
Have fun!'
But our suffering is not our enemy.
It is only through a relationship with my pain, my sadness, that I can truly know and touch the opposite—my pleasure, my joy, and my happiness.

Two years of therapy in 30 seconds.
No one is judging you; it's all in your head, and if they are, they're wrong.
What was done to you as a child is not your fault, and you did not deserve it.
You are still the person you were before your depression; you haven't changed, and you can always go back to doing the things you used to enjoy.
Your body is not your enemy; it is your ally, allowing you to live your life.
If you feel lost, that's perfectly normal; we all feel that way sometimes.
There is still time, and you deserve to live.

The older you get, the quieter you become, not because you have less to say, but because you finally understand what is really worth saying.
Life humbles you in ways you never expected.
You begin to see how much energy you wasted on things that didn't matter, how much time you lost trying to impress people who had already forgotten you the next day.
You stop trying to fix relationships that were doomed from the start and you really start to accept things for what they are, not for what you would like them to be.
But above all, you stop worrying about what others think of your choices, and it is one of the most liberating feelings there is.
You finally live for yourself, not for the expectations of others.

Stop for a moment, it's better now, isn't it?
It's strange how silence, when you really listen to it, makes a noise.
It's the sound of things falling back into place, of thoughts that stop screaming, of fears that finally breathe.
We live surrounded by sounds, people, duties, but inside there is an echo that never stops.
Your mind keeps spinning even when you sleep, it keeps running even when you stand still, and you feel like you're living, but in reality you're just reacting to everything and everyone.
You have filled every space with something: school, work, relationships.
Messages you don't want to answer, people who don't really know you.
Yet peace is not found by adding, it is found by taking away.
Take away the noise, take away the rush, take away the need to understand everything, and when only the sound of rain remains, you discover that you were not missing anything, you were just missing yourself.

Imagine what we would be like if we were less afraid...
Almost all the older moles I know wish they had listened less to their fears and more to their dreams.

What do you dream of?
I dream of home, oh how it is made I do not know, I am not sure, but I know I need it.
An elderly mole once told me, “When you get lost, follow the river and it will take you home,” but I don't see any rivers.

Isn't it strange that we only see what happens outside, but almost everything happens inside us?

What do you want to be when you grow up?
To be kind.
One of our greatest freedoms lies in how we react to things.

If you are serious about healing, there are four people you must forgive first.

1 Your parents, living or deceased, who did their best or not, gave you life, and clinging to what they could not give you will only keep you stuck.
Thank them for what they could offer and let go of the rest.
2. The people you once loved, those who did not stay, those who could not meet you where you were.
Wish them peace, wish them healing, but stop reopening a door that life has already closed.
3. Everyone else who has hurt you: friends, strangers, people who have disappointed you.
You do not need an apology to forgive; you need your peace.
Erase everything, not for them, but for yourself.
4 Yourself, the most difficult, the version of yourself that made mistakes, that didn't know any better.
Forgiveness is not weakness, it is liberation, and you cannot move forward if you are still dragging everything behind you.

The greatest obstacle to living is waiting for tomorrow, which wastes today.
Seneca said this two thousand years ago, yet today it is truer than ever.
We live always waiting for something, the right moment, the right person, the right life.
We convince ourselves that everything will start tomorrow, but in the meantime, the days pass and that tomorrow never comes.
We get up tired, we run out of habit, and every evening we promise ourselves that everything will change on Monday, but nothing changes.
Because life does not wait for those who put it off, so perhaps the real mistake is not dreaming too big, but living as if time were infinite.
The truth is that we do not need a better tomorrow, we just need to truly live today.

There's a sentence that opened my eyes.
“You must develop the ability to be despised”.
Yes, you got it right.
Because only when you learn to tolerate judgment and criticism can you truly free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.
As long as you seek the approval of others you are giving up your personal power.
It's like handing over the keys to your identity to anyone who catches your attention.
But you were not born to be understood by everyone.
You're here to be honest.
There will remain people who will misunderstand you.
Some will judge you without knowing you.
Because your light annoys their shadow, but you remain standing.
Even when they point the finger at you, even when they turn their backs on you, even when they don't understand your choices.
The only approval that matters is the one you receive looking in the mirror.
Remember to be true and more important than to be accepted.

During meditation retreats, we are mostly silent.
Silence is a valuable practice that goes far beyond not speaking.
Silence is working with the activity of the mind, all the thoughts about this and that, the mind's constant desire to escape from what is.
In silence, we often have a better chance of seeing how our mind and emotions work and discovering the wisdom that connects all things.
People often dislike silence because in silence we are left with ourselves.
There is no escape from our thoughts, feelings and perceptions.
If we are new to the practice of meditation and have not spent much time with ourselves, silence can sometimes seem almost unbearable.
I still remember the first days and weeks I spent in the first Buddhist monastery where I trained.
Walking around the grounds, I would sometimes pass by one of the monks.
Out of politeness, a desire to connect (and discomfort), I would say, “Good morning”.
The monks would walk past, saying nothing and behaving, from my perspective, as if I did not exist.
My immediate reaction was to feel offended and think that they did not like me.
As my training continued, my mind went through many changes, until I finally reached the point where the monks' silence in response to my greetings no longer seemed personal
or like a rejection.
On the contrary, I began to experience the silence as a great relief.
I had freed myself from the social conventions that often made me feel empty and, in any case, unseen or unheard.
In the silence, there was a certain comfort in relating to others that I had never experienced before.
Practising in silence in a group invites us to experience another kind of consciousness, another kind of awareness and new ways of connecting with others.
There is a deepening of awareness and a great opportunity to clear the mind.

Rumi (poeta persiano ndr.) disse:

"Oh anima,
ti preoccupi troppo.

No one will come.

No one will come and do the dirty work for you.
No one will study for you.
No one will go on a diet for you.
No one will get you out of a toxic relationship.
No one will change their home, job or city to make you happy.
Your happiness is always your responsibility.

A psychologist once told me:
‘Pain is passed down through families from generation to generation until someone is ready to feel it fully.’

For many of us, our generational curse is avoidance.
We come from families that behave as if nothing ever happened, but pain demands to be felt, and sooner or later a child is born whose task is to feel it all.
They are the ones born with the gift of feeling, and as we all know, you cannot heal pain that you refuse to feel.
