Anyone can apologise to you, but not everyone is capable of resolving the problem they’ve caused.
If we want our apologies to mean anything, we have to work hard to regain trust, but the truth is hard to swallow, which is why many people avoid it.
Trust is earned drop by drop but lost in buckets.
Remember, what you do matters more than what you say.

We shouldn’t be afraid of suffering.
There is only one thing we should be afraid of, and that is not knowing how to deal with suffering.

When we are taken by surprise by a painful feeling, we often try to suppress it.
Instead, the first thing we must do is accept what is wrong within us.
When we recognise and accept difficult feelings and emotions, we begin to feel better.
When we see that those negative aspects can help us grow, we fear them less.

When there is suffering, we must ‘be present’.
We must not flee from it by covering it up with physical exhaustion or hiding it with distractions.
We should simply acknowledge it and embrace it, just as a mother lovingly holds her crying child in her arms.

A mother has the strength and tenderness of love.
When the child is in his mother’s arms, he immediately feels comforted and suffers less, even if the mother does not yet know exactly why he is crying.
The mere fact that the mother embraces the child is enough to help him suffer less.
There is no need to know where the pain comes from.
We simply need to welcome it, and this already brings some relief.
When the suffering begins to subside a little, we know we are overcoming it.
Mindfulness gives us the strength to look within ourselves and gives rise to understanding and compassion within us.

Holding your baby

By holding the baby in mental presence, the mother soon discovers the cause of his suffering and it is very easy for her to remedy it.
If the baby has a fever, she will give him medicine to bring it down; if he is hungry, she will give him warm milk; if the nappy is too tight, she will loosen it.
As practitioners, we must do exactly the same thing.
We hold our anger child in full awareness so that we can feel better; we continue to practise mindful breathing and walking as if we were singing a lullaby to our anger.
The energy of awareness enters into that of anger just as the energy of the mother enters into that of the child; there is no difference.
If you know how to practise mindful breathing, smiling and walking meditation, you will only need five minutes to find relief.

When you get angry you tend to believe that it is another person who is causing your unhappiness and you blame them for all the suffering they cause you.
If you look deeply, however, you can realise that the main cause of your suffering is the seeds of anger within you.
Many others, in the same situation, would not get as angry as you do: maybe they hear the same words, experience the same situation and manage very well to remain calm, not to get carried away.
And you, then, why do you get angry so easily?
Perhaps because your seed of anger is too strong.
Or perhaps in the past that
seed has been watered too often in the past…

When we begin to cultivate the energy of awareness, the first profound insight we reach is this:
the root cause of our unhappiness, of our suffering is not the other person, it is the seed of anger within us.
Then we stop condemning the other person as the primary cause of all our troubles, because we realise that the other person is only a secondary cause.

Be proud of yourself, because no one really knows what it means to be you, day in, day out.
No one knows the battles you face in silence, the challenges you overcome every day, or the strength it takes to pick yourself up time and time again.
Every lesson you refuse to learn will keep coming back in new forms until you’re willing to change.
A negative mindset can never build a positive life, and change begins within you – in the way you think, the way you speak to yourself, and the way you choose to face each new day.

We all go through life believing that our suffering is unique.
That no one has ever felt pain like the pain we feel now.
We think our pain is personal, incomparable, that no one can truly understand what we are carrying inside.
But this is the deception of pain.
Suffering does not separate you from others.
It places you amongst them.
Long before you were born, others carried burdens just as heavy.
And right now, all around you, there are people walking every day with burdens invisible to your eyes.
Pain is not what makes you alone; it is what makes you human.
When you understand this, something changes.
Stop asking yourself why this is happening to me, and start asking yourself, what can I do with what has happened to me?
Your pain has never been a wall; it has always been a bridge.

Fare presto...
Come riuscirò a farcela?
Ecco il caposquadra che si avvicina.
"Quanti ne fa? 400 all'ora?
Bisogna farne 800.
600.
Più presto.
Quanti dopo quest'ultima ora? 650.

Quali altri ricordi, ancora?
Piove a dirotto.

I need to hurry... I feel like I’m going to faint from exhaustion and nausea.
What time is it?
There are still two hours to go before the end of the shift.
How on earth am I going to manage it?
Here comes the foreman.
“How many are you doing? 400 an hour?
You need to do 800.
Otherwise, I won’t keep you on.
If you do 800 from now on, maybe I’ll be able to keep you on.”
He speaks without raising his voice.
Why should he raise his voice, when a single word can cause so much anguish?
What can one say in reply?
“I’ll try.”
Faster.
Even faster.
Overcome at every moment this revulsion, this nausea that paralyses you.
Faster.
You have to double the pace.
How many have I done after an hour?
600.
Faster.
How many after this last hour? 650.
The bell.
Clock out, get dressed, leave the factory, with the body drained of all vital energy, the mind empty of all thought, the heart swollen with disgust, with silent rage, and, above all, a sense of helplessness and submission.

What other memories, still?
Too many come flooding back, one on top of the other.
Women waiting in front of a factory gate.
You can only enter ten minutes before the hour, and if you live far away you have to arrive twenty minutes early to avoid the risk of being a minute late.
A small gate is open, but officially ‘it’s not open’.
It’s pouring with rain.
The women are outside, in the rain, in front of that open door.
What could be more natural than taking shelter when it rains and when the door of a house is open?
But this perfectly natural movement, one doesn’t even think of making it, in front of this factory, because it is forbidden.
No place is as alien to us as this factory where our strength is sapped, day after day, for eight hours.

Have you ever noticed that we photograph sunsets instead of watching them?
That we record concerts instead of experiencing them?
That we capture the most beautiful moments of our lives instead of savouring them to the full?
We have become archivists of our own existence.
We collect memories before we’ve even lived them, and in the meantime the sunset fades, the song ends.
And you were there, but you weren’t really there.
Presence cannot be photographed.
It cannot be saved for tomorrow.
It is lived in the now.
The next time you raise your phone to capture something beautiful, stop for a second and ask yourself...
I want to remember this moment.
I want to live it because one day you won’t have the screen in front of your eyes and you’ll only remember how you felt.
Not what you filmed.

I believe the key to staying in love is to be grateful.
When you have something beautiful, when you have someone special by your side.
Don’t look for something better.
I’ve learnt that the best relationships are the ones where you never give up on each other.
We live in an age where it’s all too easy to move on.
To walk away when things get tough.
Don’t do that.
Cherish what you have.
Fight for what you love.
That story that says we made it to the end.
And all because we never gave up.
We never turned our backs on each other.
We never abandoned the love we had found.
We made it all the way because every single day we remembered just how incredibly lucky we were.

Take a moment.
Return to the present experience, to what is happening where you are.
Look, listen, observe your experience with new eyes.
Start again from scratch, as if you were a child seeing the world for the first time, because that is exactly the way you are always
looking at it.
In the present moment, life is always new.
You have never experienced this moment before and you will never experience it again.
The sounds of this moment have never been heard before.
The emotions of this moment have never been felt before.
These words have never been read before.
And even if you think all this has already happened, it is a memory, a thought about the past that appears now, in the freshness of a new moment.
When you really return to what is happening now, you find only the spontaneous play of life.
Life is a dance of thoughts, sounds, sensations, smells, all appearing and disappearing, freely and dynamically, in the space that you are.
And you realise that seeing, hearing, feeling happen without the slightest effort.

Vedo me stesso in tutte le specie e vedo tutte le specie in me.

Feathers

It is said that a man went, one day, to Muhammad and said to him, "I am very unhappy, I have falsely accused a friend, I have slandered him, and now I do not know how to repair."
Muhammad listened to him attentively and then replied, "Here is what you must do:
go and put a feather before the door of every house in the city, and tomorrow return to me."

The man went away and did what Muhammad told him: he put a feather in front of every house in the city and returned the next day.
"Good," says Muhammad, "now go and get all the feathers back and bring them here."
After a few hours the man returned all sad; he had not found a single feather.
Then Muhammad said, "It is the same with words: once spoken, they cannot be withdrawn, they have now taken flight."
And the man went away very sad.

Now I want to comment on this anecdote.
Suppose someone comes to me and asks how to repair accusations, backbiting and insults.
I would answer him the same story, but I would add something very important.
I would say to him, "You need to talk about that person again, but by saying the opposite; that is, you will talk about his qualities, his virtues, and his good intentions.
Since there is always something good in every creature, try to discover it and you will find it."

"But in this way will I repair the evil I have done?"
I would answer him, "No, this is not possible, because the words you have spoken have already caused trouble in the invisible regions, and also in the visible ones, but you will create something different, which will partly remedy your previous words.
And when the time comes when karma forces you to pay for your bad words, shortly afterwards the consequences of the good words you have spoken will also come, and you will have consolations."

Affinché tu possa scoprire chi sei veramente.
E ti rendi conto.
Il dolore non ti ha spezzato;
ti stai elevando.

Kafka and the traveling doll

A year before his death, Franz Kafka had an unusual experience.
Walking through the Steglitz park in Berlin he met a little girl, Elsi, who was crying disconsolate: she had lost her favorite doll, Brigida.
Kafka offered to help her search and made an appointment for the following day in the same garden.
Having failed to find the doll, Kafka wrote a letter, pretending it was for Elsi from Brigida.
“Please don't cry, I went on a trip to see the world, I will rewrite you by telling you about my adventures ...", so began the letter.
For many days, Kafka and the little girl met; he read them these carefully descriptive letters of the beloved doll's imaginary adventures.
The girl was consoled by it and when their meetings came to an end Kafka gave her a doll.
It was obviously different from the lost doll; in an enclosed ticket he explained: "My travels have changed me."
Many years later the grown girl found a ticket hidden inside the doll received as a gift.
He said: "Everything you love is very likely that you will lose it, but in the end love will change into a different form"

"If you truly love yourself, you will never hurt anyone else"

These words of the Buddha suggest that we are capable of being more than mediocre and doing more than just getting by.
As human beings, we are truly capable of greatness of spirit, of overcoming the circumstances in which we find ourselves, of experiencing a deep sense of connection with all of life.
It is so sad to be content to shut ourselves up within the four walls of indifference, to get what we want by any means possible, or to experience a petty thrill in beating someone in any way possible.
If we recognised all that we can be and honoured ourselves for it, we would not jeopardise our integrity and wholeness for a superficial sense of power that might come from lying to someone ('I know something you don't know') or for the ephemeral pleasure we can derive from exploiting others.

If we thought we were capable of much more than mediocrity, we could imagine more for ourselves than fleetingly crossing the lobby of a building hoping that the doorman would not ask us what we were doing there.
If we really love ourselves, we will never hurt anyone else.
This is truly a revolutionary and positive way of taking care of oneself.

PRATICA

sensazioni, intuizioni, coscienza e amore.

PRACTICE
Trust your inner knowledge

Learn to trust your body.
With awareness and love pay attention to what you feel on a physical level.
Feel the body's sensations, be sensitive to its signals and needs.
Listen carefully to what the body wants to tell you.
What care does it need?
What attention?
What wisdom does it have to offer?
The body has been waiting for you to listen to it.
Trust it.
Even if you have been distracted for a long time, you can get back in tune one step at a time, trusting the physical sensations you experience.
Just as you learn to listen to your body, you can silence your anxiety and learn to trust your intuition and instincts.
Think of a problem or a difficult situation - what does your gut suggest?
Pause.
Listen carefully to yourself.
Trust.
Below the level of events, habits and immediate reactions, there are deeper levels of knowledge:
sensations, intuition, consciousness and love.
Take the time to get in touch with them, with awareness and respect.
Grow your self-esteem and self-confidence.
Trust awareness.
Discover that loving awareness is big enough to contain all your experience.
Grow confidence and resilience from your loving awareness.
You can be mindful of everything that fills the present, relax and surf the ever-changing waves of life.

All’improvviso si fermavano tutti i macchinari dell’enorme officina.

Buon 1 maggio 2026
(festa dei lavoratori)

🖊️ 🪚 ⚙️

I started working in the large factory workshop when I was 28.
Nothing could surprise me, either inside or out.
I’d expected the noise from the machinery and the production processes.
But spending eight hours there, adding to the din the noise I myself produced with two milling machines, a lathe and a press, was an acoustic novelty, difficult to get used to.
The workers shouted at one another even at close quarters.
It was the late 1970s, the end of a decade of clashes between workers and management, which had shifted the balance of power.
The most important of these achievements was dignity.
The workers had earned the fear of the hierarchy, a prerequisite for respect.

So I can speak of the silence.
Suddenly, all the machinery in the enormous workshop came to a halt.
One by one, the assembly lines ceased their clamour.
I am one of those who experienced that silence that swallowed up the din.
Then, from somewhere in the hall, a procession of workers began to move.
They marched between the lines, banging empty bins with hammers to the rhythm of their slogans.
They moved from one workshop to another, bringing everything to a halt.
They caused a storm on the ground.
The production supervisors, divided by team and department, went into hiding in search of shelter.
If found, they too had to join the procession.
Time in the factory stood still.
A counter-rhythm was underway, marked by the beating of drums.
I am one of those who knew it.
It was preceded by the silence of the machinery switched off by the mutineers”.

These four words could change your life.

“I’ll do it anyway”.

Tired?
I’m doing it anyway.
No support?
I’m doing it anyway.
Terrified.
I’m doing it anyway.
Afraid of failing.
I’m doing it anyway.
Fear of rejection.
I’m doing it anyway.
You don’t build an extraordinary life, a successful business or a deep relationship by waiting for the perfect moment.
You do it by showing up every day, regardless of how you feel.
That’s how you win the game of life.
With the mindset of someone who always wins, no matter what.
I’m doing it anyway.

Don’t marry the person you can have fun with.
Marry the person you can face difficulties with.
Anyone can love you when life is easy.
When everything is going smoothly, when money comes in and smiling comes naturally.
That’s the easy part.
That’s not where love is measured.
Love isn’t shown on the best of days.
It reveals itself on the worst of days.
That’s when you realise who stays.
The right person isn’t the one who’s only there during the good times, on holidays, or when you’re smiling.
It’s the one who sits beside you when everything is falling apart.
Who holds your hand when you’re scared, who looks at the tired, fragile, messy version of you and chooses you anyway.
Anyone can be there when everything’s going well, but the right person is the one who’s willing to get through the tough times with you; it’s the one you choose for life.

Dividi con me i tuoi dubbi.
Apri il tuo cuore tenero.
Lasciami entrare nelle tue fatiche.
Ti incontrerò in quel luogo dove le conclusioni spirituali
si spezzeranno.
Ecco dove la creatività giace.
Ecco dove la novità risplende.
Ecco dove possiamo davvero incontrarci:
oltre l’immagine.
Le tue imperfezioni
sono così perfette
in questa luce.
Non voglio che tu sia perfetto
voglio che tu sia vero.

I don't want to hear what you believe
I am not interested in your certainties
I couldn't care less about your perfection
Share your doubts with me
Open your tender heart
Let me enter your labours
I will meet you in that place
Where spiritual conclusions
Will break
There where creativity lies
Here is where novelty shines
Here is where we can truly meet
beyond the image
Your imperfections
are so perfect
in this light
I don't want you to be perfect
I want you to be true.

🌼

You are the person I wake up with every morning.
The one I breathe with, the one whose every heartbeat I feel is mine.
You are the one I walk with, the one I talk and sing with, the one who stays with me in every waking moment of every holy day.
You are the one with whom I get sick, with whom I cry, with whom anger, joy and doubt run through me like a fire.
You are the one with whom I die, the one in whose arms I return.
You are the one I see in every face, who shines in every pair of eyes and in silences, in trails of dust and in the spaces of the vault of heaven.
You are my constant companion, my home, my reason, my joy, my life.
We cannot be divided, we cannot be two, and even 'One' is too far away for us.
I sing this song to myself, and I am never alone.

I fought for freedom.
I spent fifteen years of my youth in prison, and believe me, fifteen years of your youth wasted like that always leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
You’re enjoying your youth. You protest, but you’re enjoying your youth.
And today you have the right to stand up and voice your objections, to protest, before the President of the Republic who listens to you with such brotherly warmth,
You ask this of these grey-haired men too, who fought for your freedom and for the freedom of every day.
