Telegram’s increasing requirement for cell phone numbers is what I’d say is the primary “mechanism of censorship”. This barrier for entry and use is becoming insermountable for anyone seeking anonymity and serves as a type of gentrification—squeezing out those that aren’t paying tithings to a cell carrier.
As far as I can tell, Doc has essentially censored himself because he is choosing not to overcome this barrier.
Does anyone have any information on how see the way telegram does this? It's easy to show the shenanigans on other platforms, but I've never seen anything here. All the techies I know believe in the platform AFAIK but I'm no expert. I kind of thought posting privileges are up to the group moderators. Thanks

I will have to pass on this coming October Midfest.............in spite my love for the Midfest concept and all of you wonderful free thinkers.
I dont feel its prudent to be 1000 miles away from my home/fort with all the fuckery the PARASITES in government are going to foist on AMERICANS in that time period before the FAKE ELECTIONS.

"I've posted several times in recent days on Telegram about the importance of disassociating from all central governments in large enough numbers (2% or so) to overwhelm the enforcers. Say no to government when necessary, but make them work to determine you've disassociated. Then denigrate all central governments at every opportunity to encourage others to do the same. Finally, focus on local community as a replacement after the state completes its self destruction. Let the rest of the world do the same and don't spend much effort trying to change all that. With everone improving their community, the entire world can become a far better place.
A few minutes ago I found my telegram posting privileges had been restricted, which has happened before after posting radical liberty stuff on telegram. This time, telegram is acting like my account is gone, even after updating Telegram Foss from Fdroid. This is a further escalation of the Telegram bullshit which has caused me to hate the platform so much. So, the @DocBarber account is gone forever, good riddens.

When a "kill" order is issued on a telegram account as Doc's and my other account by the telegram central organization, it removes the target account from the telegram application, preventing access to all related messages and content in the target account. The account and all related material are forevermore unviewable in the telegram application.
Perhaps there is some delay before the account is changed to a "deleted" status and the profile information is no longer viewable by other accounts.
Signal has the same foundational attachment to cellular numbers that complicate anonymity.
Session and Briar—do not have a requisite attachment to a cell phone number.
Telegram is a well-designed data-collection mechanism. You can tell by how much you have paid for it and how much data you can upload!
Also notice that Telegram is not an archive and doesn’t serve as persistant data-collection for the actual users. After so much inactivity content is deleted.
Most aspects of Telgram are insecure (not using e2e encryption) and the Private Chats which do use e2e have no mechansim of guranteeing Telgram isn’t keeping the keys and decrypting these messages.
And could it be brigading reports? Or what is the mechanism of censorship

I'm grateful for getting them though, along with the links for alternative comms!
Same happened to my other account here, it's horrible and I agree having alternate ways to stay in touch is important to stay connected to each other.
Mike certainly is far ahead of most people, keeping the websites updated and helping people connect through those, then the many other projects he does to foster community makes him a larger target to disconnect from others.
My takeaway is to form tighter "Freedom Cell" type groups where we can easily connect and interact with people who get censored from certain platforms while also firmly rejecting and blocking people who are collaborating to censor us or spoil our access to each other.
While it's not any more secure than telegram IMHO, I do like the better account controls Signal offers as far as blocking accounts in group chats, not deleting contents of my device as Doc explained, encryption on all PM's sent through their server, audio/ video calls work through tor/ proxy,
Let's wait until this coming Tuesday to give more people a little more time to weigh in.
