Yoav Gallant visits New York City despite ICC arrest warrant

Yoav Gallant, Israel's former defence minister, visited the Chabad headquarters in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, on Sunday, marking his first trip to the U.S. since his dismissal. 

Not only that, Gallant’s visit comes only two weeks after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Despite this, Gallant's U.S. trip has continued without any legal consequences.

According to reports, Gallant is set to travel to Washington, D.C., next, where he is expected to meet with senior U.S. officials at the State Department and the White House.

The Yemeni resistance claimed that the former Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, shut down their embassy in Damascus in exchange for the reopening of the Saudi embassy in 2023.

Resistance groups based throughout Jenin recently confronted and stole two vehicles belonging to the Israeli-backed Palestinian Authority. The banners of Saraya Al-Quds, Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, and Al-Qassam Brigades were laid on the stolen vehicles.

CEO of United Healthcare assassinated in New York

Brian Thompson, CEO of United Healthcare, was shot outside the Hilton Hotel on Sixth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, just before the start of the company’s annual investor conference.

The attack took place around 6:45 a.m. local time, when Thompson was confronted by the gunman, who appeared to have been waiting in hiding. Despite immediate efforts to save him, Thompson was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a nearby hospital.

Local authorities are continuing their search for the attacker, who has not yet been apprehended.

Israel warns soldiers of legal risks travelling the world

Israelis warn that the arrest warrants for Israeli officials, including Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, could set a precedent for international arrest warrants against military officers and reserve soldiers involved in the Gaza genocide.

Several Israeli soldiers have already been forced to cut short their trips and leave countries due to the risk of legal proceedings. So far, approximately 30 cases have been reported where criminal charges have been brought against Israelis.

At least eight soldiers—some of whom had visited Cyprus, Slovenia, and the Netherlands—were forced to leave immediately to avoid potential arrest.

In response to these developments, Israel has instituted a new "risk assessment" procedure for soldiers intending to travel abroad.

With support from the UAE, Israel is working to secure a military base in Somaliland, a move that would come in exchange for recognising Somaliland's independence as well as future financial investments.

The base would be strategically located on the Gulf of Aden, close to the Bab Al-Mandab Strait—one of the busiest maritime routes globally. Israel sees this location as crucial for allowing it to project power in the region, particularly in countering the Yemeni resistance.

Sources suggest that the UAE is acting as a mediator and has pledged to finance the base's establishment.
