The 'Reverse Choice' Persuasion Strategy 🔄

The essence of this strategy is that we give our interlocutor the space to choose among options that they definitely DON'T like.

When the interlocutor picks what they don't like, they make their choice unconsciously. And the right to choose then passes to us (we chuckle slyly and rub our hands together). 😏

Example: You want to convince a friend to go to a bar that you like. So, you ask: 'Which bar do you definitely NOT want to go to tonight?' 🍻

When the person voices their option, they automatically make their choice. After which, we can confidently propose the options we like.

People to steer clear from 🚫

This would be someone who forces their friendship or relationship on you. Things like friendship and relationships should happen NATURALLY, on their own.

You can't force yourself into such matters. And if someone is forcing themselves on you, then they have a problem with it.

If a person is too pushy, it's a red flag. 🚩 It's a sign that the person can't offer something good, so they just try to become close to you through persistence.

Stay a mile away from such people. 🏃‍♀️💨

What to read? 📖

American Icon: Alan Mulally and the Fight to Save Ford Motor Company by Bryce G. Hoffman

"This book really resonated with me, because it's almost a mirror image of what we did with the Sparkling Ice brand. Hoffman dives into how Alan Mulally went into Ford and took a look at the organization as a whole. He shifted the focus to the consumer and recognized the importance of delivering quality products and services. Mulally honored the heritage of the company and used Ford's identity as a strength to reinvigorate a culture. If you need to enact change in your company without losing its values, this book will be perfect to pull inspiration and tactics from."

🚢⚓ Ever marvelled at the feat of engineering that is the Panama Canal?

This 82-kilometer (51-mile) waterway connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, serving as a key conduit for international maritime trade.

Constructed between 1904 and 1914, the canal was one of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken. It drastically reduced the time for ships to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, eliminating the lengthy and treacherous route around the southernmost tip of South America.

The canal uses a system of locks - enclosed chambers that raise and lower ships - to get vessels through. Around 14,000 ships pass through the Panama Canal each year, showing its continued relevance over a century after its opening! 🌎🌊

The Garden Theory

Imagine that since birth, a garden has been assigned to you. While you were young, your parents took care of it. But as you grew up, it fell into your hands.

This garden is you. Your well-being, health, intellect, body, and mind. If you were lucky, your parents nurtured and enriched the garden. But if not, it could be dry: what was sown didn't sprout, and instead of seedlings, there were poisonous weeds.

No matter what, the future of the garden is now in your hands. And it is influenced by three main components: weeds, pests, and change.

Weeds consume resources and grow: addictions, toxic relationships, negative thinking. And pests are the life-poisoning people who eat the seeds you sow with effort.

Seeds are aspirations, confidence, discipline, perseverance. Character traits and goals. They can be divided into five categories: spiritual, physical, intellectual, relational, and emotional. It's good to have at least one seedling in each category.

It's clear that you need to fight weeds and pests. As for the seeds, it's not enough to plant them. You also need to grow them. And for this, you need soil, water, and sunlight.

Soil is the foundation of the garden: work, finances, the quality of mental and social life. If all this is weak, it is difficult for the seeds to sprout. But still possible.

Water is what you nourish the seeds with. You can water them with energy drinks, complaints, or with books, self-improvement - what you water with will bear fruit.

You can't fix a neglected garden in one evening. It takes time to clear weeds and grow seeds. And vigilance is needed to keep pests at bay.

It's important that you start treating your well-being and overall life background like a garden. To cherish and nurture it, not neglect and let it drift.

Become better. Take a look at your garden, assess its condition, and accept it as it is. Then, pull yourself together and start taking care of it.

The 'Sandwich' Method 🥪

This involves framing your request between two pieces of good news.

The first layer - information that benefits your interlocutor. 🎁
The second layer - your request. 📝
The third layer - a compliment to the person. 🌟

For example, if you're maneuvering with your boss, talk about a successfully completed deal, then hint at the insufficient size of the order's payment, and finish by highlighting what a fair leader they are and how satisfied you are working under their management

The Parable of the Two Arrows.🏹

A novice in archery stood before the target, holding two arrows. 🎯
The mentor shook his head and said:

"Never take two arrows.
By relying on the second arrow, you will treat the first one carelessly.
Always consider that there may not be another opportunity, and you must - without fail - hit the target with the one and only arrow!" 💪

How to stop depending on others' opinions 🔄

'People-pleasers' often do too much: they overly adapt, overly apologize. Do you want to be such a pleasing person, always seeking approval?

If you continue to act to your own detriment, best of luck. Keep trying to please even those who ignore and insult you. 😔

If you want to start living (not just adapting), it's time to understand what you want. 🌈

'What do I believe in? What are my values? How should I live?' - people-pleasers avoid these three questions. They'll succumb to someone else's desires. No methods will help you unless you spiritually decide to change your perception of society and your life. 🎭

In a similar situation, a transforming person will turn their gaze inward and ask themselves, 'What do I think is right?'

These are the words of a warrior. 💪🏼🔥

The best way to get someone to talk 🗣️

Police often use the 'good cop, bad cop' manipulation technique. First, the manipulator puts pressure on the person, inducing a state of stress. 🚔

Then, they calm down and create a pleasant environment for the 'victim'. Because the person has just recently felt discomfort, they'll experience a strong sense of relief. 😌

In this state, your interlocutor will relax and become more talkative, allowing you to gather all the information you need. 🕵️‍♀️

Pay attention to people's feet when you approach them 👀

When you approach a group of people in conversation, take note of their body language.

If they only turn their torsos and not their feet, it means they are in the midst of an important conversation and they don't want you to interrupt. 🚫

If they turn both their torsos and feet, it means they're welcoming you. 🤗 This is extremely important because choosing the right moment in such situations can put you in a favorable position.

🌋🔥 Have you ever wondered what happens during a volcanic eruption?

Volcanoes are openings in the Earth's crust that allow molten rock, debris, and gases to escape from the magma chamber below the surface. When pressure builds up, an eruption occurs!

These powerful natural events can result in lava flows, ash clouds, and even pyroclastic flows - fast-moving currents of hot gas and volcanic matter. The largest volcanic eruption recorded in human history was the 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia, which affected global temperatures and caused what was known as the "Year Without a Summer."

Volcanic eruptions can be destructive, but they also play a crucial role in shaping our planet's landscapes and ecosystems, and even help regulate our climate.

So, while they might be intimidating, volcanoes are an important part of our dynamic Earth! 🌍💥
