Community acquired neumonia —> Streptococcus pneumoniea
Hospital acquired pneumonia + ventilation associated pneumonia —> Pseudomonas aurignosa
Meningitis overall —> viral (Enterovirus)
While the most common organism in Bacterial meningitis —> Streptococcus pneumoniea
Urinary tract infections —> E. coli
Septic arthritis —> Staphylococcus aureus
children with PANDAS are clinically identified by five criteria:
🔸 Presence of obsessive-compulsive disorder OCD and/or a tic disorder
🔸 Pediatric onset of symptoms (age 3 years to puberty)
🔸 Episodic course of symptom severity
🔸 Association with group A Beta-hemolytic streptococcal infection (a positive throat culture for strep. or history of Scarlet Fever)
🔸 Association with neurological abnormalities (motor hyperactivity, or adventitious movements, such as choreiform movements.
The anti-streptococcal antibody titre determines whether there is immunologic evidence of a previous strep infection.
The most common test available for establishing this is the antistreptococcalDNAase B (AntiDNAse-B) titre.
