Moscow Metro tests payment with digital rubles via universal QR code
The Moscow Metro has begun testing a new payment method. According to Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, the test is being conducted in collaboration with the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and VTB in a closed mode. Focus group participants successfully purchased several Troika cards and topped up their transport card balance with digital rubles at the cash desk using a universal QR code.
To pay, the user needs to go to the bank's application and scan the single static QR code, which is located in the cash register area, with the phone's camera. Then, select the digital ruble or the Fast Payment System and confirm the payment.
