"Dad, I hate fasting." 😐
"No, my dear! That's haram! You must love fasting because Allah has commanded it."
Dear father/mother... This harsh response of yours hurts your son/daughter and their faith more than you think you're benefiting them! Because with this response:
You teach them not to express the feelings in their hearts regarding religious rituals. So if they hate anything from them, the hatred remains in their heart and hypocrisy grows little by little!
You teach them that Islam is an unrealistic religion! It demands them to love what is not lovable to the self.
So, what is the correct response in this situation?
"My dear, you mean you hate the restriction of desires that comes with fasting... You hate being deprived of eating and drinking whenever you want, and you hate feeling tired. That's very normal, for a person to hate restricting their desires and to hate feeling tired. Your feeling is very normal, there's no problem with it. Look how Allah Almighty says: "Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you..." (Qur'an translated meaning 2:216)
But alongside this feeling, there's another feeling: the feeling of rejoicing in obeying Allah, the joy in proving to Allah your sincerity in loving and glorifying Him when you leave what you love for His sake, glorified be He. You rejoice while thinking about the Paradise that Allah has prepared for you in return for your fasting, where there is what is more delicious and sweeter than all the pleasures you have abandoned for the sake of Allah in fasting.
Your feeling of joy, my dear, outweighs your feeling of hating tiredness and deprivation of food and drink... And if you don't find it outweighing then, let's remember these meanings so your joy in fasting overcomes the hatred of tiredness and deprivation.
Notice, my dear, in the continuation of the verse "Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you...", how Allah Almighty says, what can be translated as: "...But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not".
This is the matter in all simplicity, without preventing our children from expressing their feelings, and without making them feel that Islam is unrealistic.
Say the same words to your children when you see them celebrating the end of Ramadan because they have found it burdensome...
"Indeed, the believer is honoured, triumphant, supported, victorious (by Allah), self-sufficient, and protected wherever he is even if all nations amassed against him as long as he follows the true core of faith and related responsibilities, publicly and secretly.
Allah Almighty says to the believers "And do not waver nor grieve for you the highest as long as you are believers" (Qur'an translated meaning 2:139)
And His Almighty also says: "So do not waver and call for peace while you have the upper hand; Allah is with you and He will not divest you of your deeds." (Qur'an translated meaning 47:35)
So this guarantee is but by their faith and deeds, which are deemed soldiers of Allah whereby He protects the believers. As such, Allah does not deprive the believers from their good deeds nor does He nullify them. Not like how Allah renders the deeds of disbelievers and hypocrites futile if those deeds were to please someone other than Allah and if they do not align with His commands"
Tafseer of Surah Muhammad, Imaam Ibn-Al Qayyim
The scholar Ibn Al-Arabi, may Allah have mercy on him, said about the Muslim captives held by their enemies:
"Our loyalty to them stands, and our physical support of them is a duty; where we do not blink an eye before seeking to rescue them -if we have the means to it- or spend all our wealth on returning them, till none of us is left with a single penny. This was agreed upon by Imam Malik and all the scholars."
Oh, how astonishing is the decline of moral standards and the lack of rights' awareness!
How did major American and British media outlets report the news of the American Air Force soldier burning himself in protest against the aggression on Gaza? We all know that these media outlets are largely controlled by the Zionist lobby, but to that extent?! To the extent that they delay mentioning the news and then, when they do mention it - reluctantly - they don't mention the reason in the headline?! Only an American soldier burned himself in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington... Well, why? You won't find the answer in the headline of any of them! It's as if they are all controlled from one office!! Maybe he burned himself because he was mentally unstable, or because his "lover" left him for someone else!! Many readers won't bother to read the details, and their emotions won't be stirred against the criminal entity with such a headline.
On the other hand, these stations rush to spread lies to inflame public opinion and justify criminal wars, then after a while, they publish refutations of these claims to appear transparent and neutral, after lives have been lost and countries destroyed. They are tools of deception and brainwashing, not "media" outlets!
What if Muslims were ruled by Sharia during the current events.

In the 1990s, Abdelwahab El Messiri hosted the mujahid president Alija Izetbegović and organized a seminar for him at the Journalists Syndicate in Cairo, during which Izetbegović delivered this brilliant speech:
"The West was waiting for the genocide in Bosnia, ready to set up tents where mourning and lamentation would abound!"
This statement is truly a treasure trove of knowledge and a summary of deep and extensive experience with the West, and its political and media philosophy. It succinctly encapsulates the Western approach to dealing with events.
The Westerner achieves his goal with all possible ruthlessness, with appalling moral bankruptcy, and without any sense of guilt... Once the goal is achieved, historians can later speak of the terrible massacres committed by their ancestors. Western media can produce fantastic, professional, and truthful reports on the number of victims destroyed by their policies. Channels can flood you with a stream of dignified documentaries and host survivors of the massacre, crying with them, and shading them with the finest cinematic music.
Take Israel, for example... a complete Western and British crime... Now look at memoirs, historians, and the BBC and Guardian archives... You will gather information about the catastrophe and the British role in displacing Palestine that you may not find in Arab sources!
The catastrophe was successfully executed... Let's erect the tent to mourn and lament together.
While this same BBC and the same Guardian now... now... now, at the moment of Gaza's annihilation, will show you another face... Yesterday, a BBC correspondent who expressed sympathy for Gaza was fired after liking two tweets!
And so on...
Endless news about the rape of Israeli women on October 7th, about children's heads being severed, about mothers being burned with their children... Yes, all of this was published in the media that taught the world the meaning of professionalism, objectivity, thoroughness, verification standards, and auditing... All of this evaporated!
Global channels ignored broadcasting the prosecution session at the International Court of Justice where South African representatives spoke about Israeli crimes... The next day, suddenly, they all woke up to broadcast the defense session where the Israeli delegation defends Israel!
If I could swear by the unseen, I would swear by Allah that if this Gaza war passes and ends as they wish, I would see these same newspapers and channels come out with wonderfully written reports, documentaries, and films about Israel's crimes in Gaza.
And this policy, the policy of mourning and lamenting in the mourning tents after slaughtering and killing the dead, is what entices the ignorant, naive fools who admire the West and consider it a beacon of civilization and freedom of speech, and think that it holds itself accountable, reviews its history, and corrects its course!!
May Allah bless Izetbegović
... Indeed, it is a word in the heart of truth!
Mohammed Ilhami
Do not twist yourself into knots with sorrow, doubts, and worries, and do not become a prisoner of "why" and "how." Forget those who fall short, hesitate, or collude with the enemy. Instead, focus on what you ought to do within the limits of your capability, for which Allah will hold you accountable.
Channel your emotions and anger into action: prayer, charity, awareness, compassion, media influence, support, and sincere self-improvement. Put your trust in Allah, be sincere in your dealings with Him as He scrutinizes your heart, and be optimistic and anticipate the glad tidings!
As for those who have the power to change this unjust equation but fail to do so, we ask Allah not to include us in His punishment for them, and we seek His forgiveness and repent to Him.

Are you still committed to changing your life, your level of thinking, and your aspirations amidst the events in Gaza? Or have you reverted to your limited and trivial hopes and concerns?
If you were pained by the plight of your brethren at the onset of the events and realized the falsehood of the Western model, the lies of human rights slogans, and understood the extent of conspiracy, collusion, and abandonment, then know that the situation remains the same to this day, if not intensified and clearer. So why did you retreat, stop, and forget? Was it merely an emotional reaction that has ended? Or have you not forgotten, but rather despaired and succumbed to frustration and hoplessness? Why? Do you not believe in Allah and in meeting Him? Do you not know that He is the Truth, Glorified be He? Has He not informed us in many places in His true book about the Sunnah of trial?
Have you forgotten what befell the believers throughout history of hardships and trials? Do you not read Surah Al-Buruj and the Al-Imran?
Then, do you not believe that Islam still has a forthcoming period of glory, as prophesied by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him) in many of his sayings? And believe me, it is not far from us. And these severe crimes against the oppressed are nothing but preludes to divine punishments that will befall the aggressors, oppressors, and those who support them.
Then Allah will support His religion and inherit the earth to whomever He wills from among His servants. And the outcome is for the righteous.
So, rise, my friend, and do not despair. Seek help from Allah and do not be helpless. Think well of Allah, and live the concerns of your brethren in Gaza and other places where Muslims are oppressed. Include them in your prayers and in your thoughts, and support them in your speech, concern, and charity. Refrain from trivial matters, sins, and personal conflicts, and dedicate your time and thoughts to the genuine pursuit of being among the carriers of this great religion and among those who follow the path of the prophets and messengers.
Sheikh Ahmad Alsayed
Have you ever wondered how the people of Gaza endure the heart-wrenching loss of children, husbands, fathers, and wives, alongside the relentless destruction of homes, schools, and hospitals, the scarcity of food, water, children’s formula, electricity, telecommunications, and the unyielding bombing from the Israeli army by air, sea, and land?
In the midst of all this suffering, the people of Gaza articulate words of faith that breathe hope into a humanity craving meaning and value in these materialistic times. Their unwavering spirit in the midst of such adversity serves as a testament to the profound impact of faith on the human soul.

Ibn Omar narrated that:
"Whenever the Prophet, Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him, saw the crescent he used to say:
'Allah, bring it over us with safety and faith, security and Islam, guidance to what You love and is pleasing to You. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.'"
