No spergery, no blackpilling, no antisocial bollocks. Constructive chat ahoy!
”This fucking ring!” Cried Frodo
”Fuck Mordor. This place is shit!” Said Sam.
They continued walking up the ash covered slope of Mount Doom.
”You know, I’m just so fucking tired of this fucking place. ” sobbed Frodo. ”
”Yeah, Gandalf has some small pizzle energy sending us here!”
”Fucking privileged white sorcerer. ”
;)
Thing is, I’m not against coming up with a modern dialogue for a historical settings if it’s done well. Steven Pressfield for example, does this in his books of ancient times and it works.
But this stuff is just childish and bad.
And it's a word you hear hundreds of times over in the game, by people who are apparently meant to be societal rogues. I absolutely hate that.
Читать полностью…I think it is also written by people that are simply a lesser kind of human. It’s like the internet tough guy thing. Someone picking a fight online and being rude proves that he or she doesn’t have any friends and never interact with real humans, since you simply cannot act like that in real life.
These writers have no real feelings, no connections, nothing they care for. They have never truly lived, only existed for a while.
About the dialogue being crap, that goes for all modern drama. Seen some clips from modern TV series that are supposed to be in historical settings of fantasy and the silly, bitchy cursing is just amazing. Like British generals in WW2 screaming effin this and that, knight swearing like upset hipsters etc.
Really proof that the people writing these things are just pathetic children. I can find TikTok creators that produce better stuff.
It's almost Arthurian and a grail quest, throughout time. I don't think they'll ever top what they managed to capture in the Ezio trilogy (not you Revelation).
Читать полностью…Yes. I remember telling bedtime stories to my niece. I will always remember her great big saucer eyes in the dark. It didn't do her any harm and she loves to let me see her daughter now.
Strangely my wife wasn't so keen on me making up stories for our children.
I got 100% on Brotherhood, and 90 something % on the others I played a lot. If I wasn't playing/watching something about Star Wars, I was on AC lol.
I liked the sense of there being a grand mystery that stretches beyond what even an elite can see, and everyone's manipulated by it in different ways due to their limited understanding of it.
The first (for its time) and the Ezio collection really captured that sense well.
Can you name a Norwegian author that didn't write great works?

(Had to zoom in. Hence low quality).
They are constantly snapping at the heels of James Bond.
Читать полностью…That is deliberate. Anything which is good or noble for white people, anything which engages white boys has to be destroyed. The first things they attacked was the myths of the Wild West. They made films in which the baddies were front and centre and the law enforcement were the bad people. "Who ARE those guys?"
Читать полностью…I stopped after Unity, but I didn't finish it. It was alright as a game though, but it changed too much of everything and not like the way it did from AC1 to 2
Читать полностью…I'm willing to let innacuracy go if it's done with some class and some taste. If your media is too archaic, it won't be accessible, but like you say, they're writing like children who discovered "look down your shirt and spell attick"
Читать полностью…Even Chaucer, who was definitely spicy in the way he conveyed certain things, didn't write like a millenial redditor
Читать полностью…In reference to the dialogue choices, the word "pizzle" comes up as a reference to their dicks, and this seems like an American reddit users idea of what British slang is. Unless someone can correct me on that. Not only is it linguistically out of place for the time, it linguistically has no place whatsoever
Читать полностью…Yes, it's obviously written by people who haven't bothered to inform themselves, or are consciously trying to rewrite history. Most people don't seem to be aware of how foreign they sound compared to a generation or two prior. Americanisation.
Читать полностью…That game made me day dream of Italian villas for months at a time. I think the soft lighting they used in 2 really set that up.
Читать полностью…Unforgiven is considered one of the best westerns ever made, and that's exactly what they did. Little Bill was actually a pretty good frontier sheriff. In a lot of different ways, they're rebukes to Ford/Wayne and there's a kernel of truth. A lot of western mythos is based around real things. The vendetta ride of Wyatt Earp, gunfight at the OK Corral, his time as sheriff of Dodge, etc. For various reasons, partially Hayes Code, the immense popularity of outlaws, in their time, wasn't very well translated on to the screen. That lead to so many subversive themes that you'll never hear "the code of the west" outside of a documentary.

Читать полностью…No, but I can pick up a Norwegian phone book and find a million who didn't write anything at all!
(I'll take the recommendation on 🇳🇴authors though 👍)
Roald Dahl was so successful, in part, because he scared kids just the right amount for their age group.
Читать полностью…After that they have come for Doctor Who, the Ghostbusters, Thomas the Tank Engine. They swallowed the whole of Disney and turned Star Wars woke.
Читать полностью…AC were some of the few games I'd actually try to 100%. Tried to play nu-AC games, and I think they're all at 25%, for those reasons. Half of the point of AC titles is world exploration, get you into the feel of locations, but what the story that gets you to these places and the time it takes to do it has to line up. They lost all sense of pacing.
