Stranger danger. Little brown bear cubs of the year are naturally fearful of other bears, but their mother must take them into crowded areas to fish or access other rich food sources. The more dominant the mother, the further into the fray she’ll take the cubs.

These arboreal athletes are masters of the climb . Leopards are super strong and comfortable in trees, often storing their food in the branches high above scavengers like hyenas. Their spotted coats also blend perfectly with tree leaves, hiding them as they hunt unsuspecting prey from above 🌳🐾

The leopard did not eat the little lonely deer; at the sight of the hyena, he grabbed it by the scruff of the neck with his teeth and dragged it up a tree to save it from death.

The way they hover over the sand, gently stirring it up, reminds of a sci-fi battle between two spaceships.

Delightful sea pens 🪶
As predominantly benthic creatures, sea pens anchor at various depths, from shallow intertidal zones to hadalpelagic zones at depths of up to 6000 m.While primarily sessile creatures, they are capable of moving to new areas and re-anchoring themselves, and their distribution is largely influenced by environmental factors, such as temperature, light availability, and substrate type.
Due to their sensitivity to environmental changes such as pollution and habitat disturbance, sea pens can serve as valuable indicators of ecosystem health and the impacts of human activities on the environment. This vulnerability to disturbance makes their presence or absence valuable for assessing the condition of marine ecosystems.
