At the National Party summer school, Diarmaid lays out why he sees European nationalism as a near-inevitable reaction to EU federalism. Monetary control, energy policy, borders: for him, the case for sovereignty starts with what Brussels failed to deliver.
He argues freedom of movement has backfired, with some states extending citizenship broadly and giving new arrivals a path into countries like Ireland. His conclusion: a turn back toward the nation-state is coming, whether by choice or necessity.

We are proud to announce that Gerry Kinneavy has been elected by the Ard Chomhairle as the new president of the National Party.
Mr Kinneavy said: “I am very honoured to assume the presidency of the National Party. As a proud Irishman and native of Oughterard, I am very happy to see the party continually growing on our 10 year anniversary."
To secure the future prosperity of the party and to enable the youth of the nationalist movement to assume greater leadership and responsibility, the Ard Chomhairle has elected Yan Mac Oireachtaigh as Deputy President of the National Party.
Mr Mac Oireachtaigh said: "There is a new, young generation of up and coming Irish nationalists, where hope in the future of Ireland rests. I intend to use my new role to continue my advocacy for the further political development of our youthful activist base."
