Yep, just hold until after snapshot in Feb.
If you hold in private wallet, you need to opt in. Or use an exchange or custody provider that will opt in for you.
Oh, then there should be no problem at all, unless perhaps your friend is a gigawhale and needs max limits.

Open support ticket and provide transaction ID. Exchanges are having record volumes, so I imagine support tickets are increasing as well. They will address the support ticket, but may have to have extra patience.
