Mentors are our disciplinarians that create necessary boundaries that we cannot set for ourselves. With our mentors, we build up confidence and assurance in making decisions to reach our goals.

Them, finding a way to stimulate our personal and professional growth by seeing where we need improvement when we often cannot. Is where they came needful.

When Mentors are backend with skills, knowledge, experience and empathy, that’s all we need. 😊

Where do all great things start from?

There is always a seed of an idea which someone can nurture and grow into a tall tree. In a recent study an average person has 6,200 thoughts per day. All ideas are mere potential until you take the action to turn them into something real. Just like a seed, there’s work involved in bringing the idea to any kind of fruition.

A garden requires patient labor and attention. Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfill good intentions. They thrive because someone expends effort on them.

Most people think people who are accomplished work alone like Thomas Edison / Charles Darwin. Neither men lives up to the myth of the "lone, brilliant person suddenly producing amazing things”; their work is a result of collaboration.

How many of us exert effort that matches the outcome we want to see? It can be at work, school, relationship. What are the reasons we give for not doing so? Is it the other person or is it we don’t get paid enough or we just study to pass for the exam?

Our accomplishments are not limited by our abilities rather the lack of consistency to learn; no matter what!

How we take and learn from failure is important. Yes our confidence might take a dive for a while including our performance but it should not come at a cost of pretending or denial to look good.

Though stereotyping had an impact when it comes from people on power (our colleagues, teacher and parents) the negative labels we put on ourselves also greatly contribute to our ability to look at ourselves and surrounding positively.

As we go in to another week of school and work, we hope you take these points with you.

Embrace the process, it matters!

More often than not, we find our fear of success somewhere between our desire to flourish and the deep-seated insecurities of changes that are plugged with success.

Hitting the big time or getting what we want can be a scary idea, but it’s an even scarier idea to think that we’re worthy of having everything we want in this life.

There are scientific and psychological reasons given for the “what” and “why”. But focusing on what we can do to let go of our fear is where we start the change.

So lets explore and re-channel our belief, cut out negative influences, spot the pattern and take action and focus the journey.

How is the day going dear friends?
We’re back with our Sunday discussion of the book #mindset by #CarolS.Dweck
If you’ve been following or for anyone new, today we’re on chapter 4.

This chapter has 8 sections and we will mentions few points from each. We hope you take the time to read the rest from the book.

•••Dweck sets out to disprove the fallacy of the naturally gifted athlete. They work incredibly hard to become the best in their fields. Even when star athletes talk about the effort it has taken to get where they are, the public still likes to believe athletic talents are innate, not grown. Here character is defined as the "ability to dig down and find the strength [to carry on] even when things are going against you." It's what allows individuals to get to the top of their fields and stay there.

•••So this brings us to “what is success?” According to Dweck, people with the growth mindset consider personal success to be "when you work your hardest to become your best." What do you think? And while you are at it, what is failure and how do you define it? Do you consider it to be negative/loss or an opportunity to learn from?

•••“Taking charge of success” explores the growth mindset continually learn and adjust your craft to deal with different challenges which will put you in to the concept of succeeding as a team. As Dweck says, "A superstar's talent can win games, but it's teamwork that wins championships."

In this chapter you can find real life stories of athletes with examples for what we pointed out above.

Finally for today, let us know if you find success in learning and improving, not just winning.

Our team spent a great part of yesterday and today at the #AAU 6kilo main campus participating at the #jobfair presented by #AAU students career development center.

We had a great time presenting our new project #innovAspace (launching soon) with students and fellow participants who visited our booth and had interesting discussions.

We want to acknowledge and appreciate the organizers for such event to assist students so they can have opportunities that can take them further than where they are and bringing possibilities closer to them.

• “Is 'success' about learning or proving you're smart?" Do you believe your intelligence and abilities are preprogrammed? Do you only engage in “safe” activities to avoid challenges so you expect to be flawless all the time? Or do you stretch yourself to learn more? Do you see “failure” as an opportunity to grow, learn and pursue goals?

• How do you define ‘failure’? Do you learn from them or do you blame & compare? How hard do you work to maintain the life your created (work, family, school,…)?

• "As a society, we value natural, effortless accomplishment over achievement through effort." Journalist Malcolm Gladwell
Do you think people who are successful & accomplished are born with their skills or worked hard for it? And if you put a lot of effort in to something and still fail, how do you feel?

Hello future self?

We were skimming through an article from Harvard Business Review about the need to practice being your future self, here is part of it and if you have 4minutes, click the link to enjoy a good read.

“It’s a familiar story: You’re busy all day, working non-stop, multitasking in a misguided attempt to knock a few extra things off your to-do list, and as the day comes to a close, you still haven’t gotten your most important work done.
Being busy is not the same as being productive. It’s the difference between running on a treadmill and running to a destination. They’re both running, but being busy is running in place.

If you want to be productive, the first question you need to ask yourself is: Who do I want to be? Another question is: Where do I want to go? Chances are that the answers to these questions represent growth in some direction. And while you can’t spend all your time pursuing those objectives, you definitely won’t get there if you don’t spend any of your time pursuing them.”

When we are dealing such times in our lives, taking it step by step and day by day is crucial. Tell us a part from your life these days.

A lot of things have been somewhat out of the ‘ordinary’ in differ part of life (from what we were used to for so long) and we believe we share this feeling one way or another. And that’s why we are here; to exchange experience and perspectives. Is there a story you want to share with us? What are the things you are enjoying these days? What are the things really bothering you?

We’ll go first.
We have been enjoying the projects we are working on though at times it gets overwhelming. And every time that feeling hits we say - let’s take it moment by moment (it comes from a story we will share some other time)
We are also busy working our new space and trainings to launch soon.

Last Sunday; we shared the book which we will be going in to. #mindset by #Carol S. Dweck

The aim of these discussions by the books we read (later we will use other mediums too) are to create a dialogue around and through thoughts that cross our minds within our personal and collective experiences everyday.
This is a safe space friends 😊

Today we will start by sharing the major outline of the book and summery of chapter 1.

• Fixed mindset
Fixed mindset people believe their qualities are set at birth and carved in stone. You are who you are, and there isn’t much you can do about it. Characteristics such as intelligence, personality, and creativity are fixed traits, and you can’t change them or develop them.
• Growth mindset
A growth mindset comes from the belief you can cultivate your qualities through effort.
Yes, people differ greatly – in aptitude, talents, interests, or temperaments – but everyone can change and grow through application and experience.
