Official r/NFL Week 6 Power Rankings

Welcome to week 6 of the official r/NFL Power Rankings! The top teams fell like dominoes this week, including the only two undefeated teams left. Do the Dolphins deserve to jump after scoring a measly 42? Are the Bengals still on an upward trajectory after fending off the Seahawks? After losing Richardson to IR, is Minshew Mania underrated or overrated? Do the Jets even need a quarterback? Discuss! 32/32 Reporting

1. | (/SF) | 49ers | -- | 5-1 | Give credit to the Cleveland D, the 49ers offense was a polar opposite of the unit that routed the Cowboys last week. Purdy looked uncomfortable all game, throwing his first interception all season. The offensive line looked overwhelmed, and Trent Williams missed time. Deebo and CMC were ruled out with injuries. Jake Moody Missed 2/3 field goals. And yet the team still drove the field with 2 minutes left to set up a game winning field goal attempt. The team looks to shake off the poor performances and get back in the win column in Minnesota on MNF this week.
2. | (/KC) | Chiefs | +1 | 5-1 | Death, taxes, and the Chiefs beating the Broncos.
3. | (/DET) | Lions | +2 | 5-1 | THE DETROIT MF LIONS NOW HAVE THE BEST RECORD IN THE NFL. Creamsicle day in Tampa Bay was as authentic as it could possibly be as the Detroit Lions dispatched their old NFC Central rivals the Buccaneers behind a suffocating defensive performance and a Jared Goff clock-burning clinic. Detroit held the Bucs to just 2-12 on 3rd down while the defense weathered the loss of DMont by airing it out, with Jared Goff posting 253 yards and 2 TDs, including a 45 yard bomb to Jameson Williams which he fought through contact to bring in. Dan Campbell continues to have these guys overcoming brutal injury luck and playing inspired football to the tune of a fourth straight 14+ point victory. I leave you on this beautiful Tuesday with maybe the block of the year from Craig Reynolds on Amon Ra St. Brown’s TD catch and run, the embodiment of “next man up” for this monstrous team.
4. | (/MIA) | Dolphins | -- | 5-1 | Soon....
5. | (/PHI) | Eagles | -3 | 5-1 | It was the battle of the teams that love to spell, and for the first time in the history of the universe, the J-e-t-s beat the E-a-g-l-e-s. The narrative coming out of the game for most Philadelphians is that Hurts had the worst game of his career (and arguably, he did), but this Jets defense has made excellent quarterbacks look foolish all season long. Next week, the Eagles will try to right the ship in Kelly Green against the Dolphins on Sunday night, in a matchup primed to be a shootout with two mid-tier defenses and strong offenses.
6. | (/BUF) | Bills | -- | 4-2 | Well, barely squeaking by a one-win Giants team that’s been destroyed by every other good team they’ve played isn’t a great look. Not to mention it’s not even like it was a shootout, the Bills managed just 14 points of offense —entirely in the fourth quarter. For one reason or another, it feels like Diggs is the only target that Allen trusts, and he’s forcing it to him hard. That may be partially for good reason though. At times it’s felt like Diggs is the only one able to find any kind of separation. Is it a skill issue or a scheme issue? Likely a little of both. But hey, at the end of the day it just feels good to win, right? Right??
7. | (/DAL) | Cowboys | -- | 4-2 | Its much better to go into a bye off a win than a loss. Fairly certain no one will disagree with that. This was touted as a Kellen Moore revenge game, but revenge on who? Dallas held the Chargers to under 275 yards of total offense, and their running game was DOA. There were definitely coaching mistakes on both sides of the ball, but there were also execution issues. At the end of the day, though, the more talented

touchdown in a one score loss.
22. | (/HOU) | Texans | -1 | 2-3 | In Greek mythology, the Siren was a creature with a voice so beautiful that it would drive sailors mad and lead them to jump into the seas and to their doom. I personally believe that Desmond Ridder is descended from these beings as his hard count was impossible to resist for the Texans defense. Seriously, four encroachment penalties? That was just one factor in an incredibly frustrating loss that also saw dropped passes left and right and an offense that just never got in gear. But even in an overall ugly game, CJ Stroud was still able to drive the field when it mattered and scored the go-ahead TD with less than 2 minutes to go. Unfortunately, the gassed defense was unable to hold in the end. Hey, after two weeks of hype a reality check game was bound to happen and even when it did, they were able to fight back. That’s a far cry from where they’ve been in recent years.
23. | (/NYJ) | Jets | +2 | 2-3 | Me, 12 month ago: Haha Nathaniel Hackett sucks. What a garbage fire the Broncos coaching staff is. Me, today: HAHAHA THAT'S WHAT YOU GET SEAN PAYTON!! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR COMING AFTER MY BOY NATE.
24. | (/WAS) | Commanders | -5 | 2-3 | I cant really analyze football very well, or write, so.. you know, apologies... ahem.. music .. Stunning 4k resolution, Amazon prime app, in honor of our evolution, FedEx field is packed.. Chase Young sacking bears, there's cheers from chairs, we're having fun .. a touchdown and a touchdown in a game that's just begun ... there it is again, that funny feeling.. That funny feeling.. there it is again, that funny feeling.. that funny feeling.. ..Jack Del Rio's defense stops, Ron Rivera's face, discounts in the team pro shop, Forbes lost another race.. looks like Barry Sanders, no good answers, rushing 4.. the whole world watching Thursday night, the bears score 7 more.. a live action murder scene, turn off the halftime show, 30 years of watching this, 30 mins to go... defense straight up choking, must be joking, dropped the ball... a deep shot to McLaurin, pass interference we all saw .. there it is again, that funny feeling... that funny feeling. There it is again, that funny feeling.. that funny feeling.. ..feeling like our defense's worthless, but Howell's on a drive .. joey slye to kick a field goal, of course he kicks it wide .. Fuller getting toasted, losing hope, coverage blown .. a 3rd touchdown for DJ, 50 times now Howell's thrown.. fans all feeling desperation, I'm losing my mind.. math on Howells sack rate, on pace for 99.. That black apparel, against the Bears, first win since last fall .. the crying comprehension that we're no good at football.. there it is again, that funny feeling.. that funny feeling. There it is again, that funny feeling, that funny feeling... Hey! What can we say? This hype was overblew, but the season is over soon, you wait.. hey! What did Ron say? "The players talked it through", his career will be over soon, just wait, ba da da, ba da da, ba dada dada da..
25. | (/LV) | Raiders | +3 | 2-3 | The team was able to win despite Josh McDaniels. Fire McDaniels.
26. | (/MIN) | Vikings | -2 | 1-4 | In Norse legend Odin sacrificed himself on the world tree, hanging for 9 days and nights to gain visions and secret wisdom. I don't know if it works if you're not a willing participant, but it seems like something Kevin O'Connell might want to try voluntarily before Vikings fans try to help him out. The Vikings seem close and competitive in every game, but unlike last year the magic is gone. The good omen is that next week's game is against the also 1-4 Bears. The ill tidings are that just when they were supposed to settle into a long winter's nap, the Ursines emerged emanating anger. Two seasons hang in the balance, and Kevin may not have enough time to give to Yggdrasil in search of an edge.
27. | (/ARI) | Cardinals | -- | 1-4 | I'm not really in tune with the college prospects/college football scene (I'm an ASU fan). So can anyone

but the Bills just looked completely out of sync on Sunday. It happens, and the loss itself isn't that concerning. What is concerning though, is how hurt this defense is now. Two more starters are on the IL, one of them being All-Pro LB Matt Milano. Missing him and Tre White will leave massive holes to fill, especially at LB where depth is already razor thin.
7. | (/DAL) | Cowboys | -2 | 3-2 | Fuck, man. There is some magic voodoo bullshit that makes the entire Dallas team play like a high school JV squad against the 49ers the last couple years. Just a 60 minute dump on the field. Its frustrating as hell because Dallas is clearly one of the more talented teams in the league, but they trip over their own dicks just too often. Every Cowboys fan recognizes what kind of season this is gonna be: the one that ends in disappointment and a mid-20s draft pick.
8. | (/SEA) | Seahawks | +1 | 3-1 | It's kind of hard to have a bad week when you're on bye. And if we're strictly talking Seahawks, it wasn't even a bad week! However, if you watched Sunday Night Football.... I think you know what I'm talking about. The Seahawks take on Ja'Marr Chase and the Bengals this Sunday. They seemed to finally get on track this week against Arizona, so Sunday should be fun.
9. | (/BAL) | Ravens | -1 | 3-2 | Analysis of this game was dropped
10. | (/JAX) | Jaguars | +1 | 3-2 | "More flags than an embassy."^
11. | (/TB) | Buccaneers | -1 | 3-1 | This is basically a week for the Buccaneers players to get to know each other better and to get to know the gameplan a little better. A week for chemistry to improve and for Mayfield and Canales as first year Buccaneers to bond together. A free, casual week where the fans won't get to be angry and annoyed as the outcome is not questioned, at least this wee.. oh, sorry, I was watching a replay of the Bears game. It's a bye week so I had to entertain myself, sorry, I shouldn't write a blurb about an old game.
12. | (/LAC) | Chargers | -1 | 2-2 | The Chargers were on a bye which means two things: 1) they should be getting some key players back (Bosa, Derwin, Ekeler) ahead of their Monday night match up vs the Cowboys, and 2) we'll have to wait another week to find out if they're a good team or not. Your guess is as good as mine!
13. | (/NO) | Saints | +3 | 3-2 | That felt good.
14. | (/CLE) | Browns | -- | 2-2 | Browns were on a well timed bye week giving starter Watson time to recover from injury HOWEVER the team has been coy about his status. Starting a rookie did not work out very well and they hope to have Watson back in week six against the, frankly, terrifying 49ers.
15. | (/LAR) | Rams | -- | 2-3 | Is it possible to both over- and underperform simultaneously? Nobody thought this Rams team was going to amount to anything this year—and they haven’t really so far—but they’ve lost three very winnable games (all to previous conference championship teams fwiw) in the typical self-inflicting fashion. The grit of this young team has been impressive but the inability to finish games is frustrating. Thankfully, the schedule eases up a bit over the next few weeks.
16. | (/ATL) | Falcons | +2 | 3-2 | After a hopelessly scathing week four rant, it turns out the world wasn't ending after all. Ridder had the best game of his career, Bijan is emulating how Vick held onto the football, and Drake London threw his first completed pass. It's great to know the offense is capable of shouldering the load, but the defense isn't playing poorly either. Stroud was a Jesse Bates drop away from snapping a streak, Bud Dupree is actually proving why he's better than Vic Beasley ever was, and Ryan Nielsen deserves credit for how this defensive line has stopped the run. On the downside, Pitts looks like a semi making a right hand turn on his routes now, they continue to make dumb mistakes and committ dumb penalties across the board, and perhaps Ridder's best game was due to the Texans defense starting their 4th string corner. Matt Ryan will call week

ever brighter; 20-16 Broncos. advance to 3-0 on the season and be at rest.
32. | (/CHI) | Bears | -2 | 0-3 | I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser. Watching the Bears wasting my afternoons. When my depression works the graveyard shift all of the quarterbacks we've ruined stand there in the room. The Bears should not be left to their own devices; they come with no prizes – all vices - they end up in crisis (tale as old as time). I wake up screaming from dreaming, fear I’ll never see Getsy leaving; cause I am damn tired of his ‘scheming’ (for the thousandth time). It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.

refs were terrible on Sunday, but there was nothing one-sided about it. Yes, they missed DPI and facemask calls on the Colts near the end, but they also missed a big hands to the face call against the Ravens — who had only one accepted penalty all game, by the way — and then whatever the hell happened here… In a messy battle between two teams that refused to win for nearly 70 minutes, Matt Gay won the crucial kicking battle over Justin Tucker, becoming the first kicker in NFL history to make four field goals from 50+ yards in a game. Indy played without rookie Anthony Richardson, who is still in the league's concussion protocol, but Gardner Minshew did enough through the air to keep the offense going (27/44 for 227 yards and a TD), and Zack Moss added 122 yards on the ground (plus a receiving TD). The Colts also won the turnover battle 2-0, as the front seven continued its dominant start to the season. But don't worry, Ravens fans. At least you don't have to see any more Mayflower memes for the rest of the regular season ;)
22. | (/NE) | Patriots | +2 | 1-2 | Willow and Birch trees both love wet conditions, and make excellent choices for planting near bodies of water to prevent erosion and control flooding. Speaking of wet conditions, some fared better than others on Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Christian Gonzalez may yet be a sapling, but he seems to be thriving so far. He has certainly made an impression on two teams within the division. We who live East of the Connecticut River often chant “Fuck the Jets” in the angry hateful manner of divisional rivals. This week, with local 22 feeling the pressure of a rare 0-2 start, it’s taken on a much more sensual tone of sweet release. Like a lover who takes care of their partner after a long hard day, the Jets were there for the Pats to do typical Jets things. How can I be anything other than grateful for Bill to fuck the Jets a 38th time. That reminds me, as an old person, I grew up with cable. Channel 38 was the porn channel (the one that was normally scrambled as pay per view, unless you bought one of those not really legal, but not really illegal descrambler boxes.) We didn’t have the internet back then in the early days of the Bledsoe era. That’s where we got our jollies. I’m rambling. The point is that birch trees also make excellent outdoor firewood. Their bark is flammable even when wet.
23. | (/TEN) | Titans | -2 | 1-2 | "You play like that in this league, you coach like that in this league, you get your ass beat. Plain and simple.” - Mike Vrabel
24. | (/NYJ) | Jets | -4 | 1-2 | Yeah, Jets need to make a change at QB, that's obvious. Instead of talking about how Zach Wilson is a truly terrible QB, let's point out that Joe Douglas is the one who failed to get a back up QB this year. He's the GM who decided to invest $7 million in Dalvin Cook instead of bringing in Jacoby Brissett for $8 million or Gardener Minshew for $3.5 million. The same GM who drafted a first round edge rusher who has barely seen the field in an all-in year when the OL and WR rooms are both serious problems. Think about how JSN or Addison or Flowers would complement Garrett Wilson right now. Instead, we’re stuck with Alan Lazard and Randall Cobb? Zach sucks, but the problems are much deeper on offense than a bad QB, and that's on Joe Douglas who did not build a complete team.
25. | (/MIN) | Vikings | -3 | 0-3 | The Vikings saw victory quite literally slip through their hands on Sunday, not once, but twice. DC Brian Flores managed to snuff the Chargers' rush attack and threw everything he had at Justin Herbert, blitzing on 82% of dropbacks -- 2nd-highest blitz percentage since ESPN began tracking it in

ready because up next is back-to-back weeks at Cleveland and at Pittsburgh.
9. | (/GB) | Packers | +4 | 2-1 | So instead of building a big lead and then folding like we did last week, the Packers played like ass for the first half and then Jordan Love decided that it was time to win the game and then we won the game. Are we a good team? I genuinely don't know. The defense held the Saints offense to 10 points, but Derek Carr got hurt midway through so idk how much credit to give. Jordan Love showed great poise in leading the comeback, but ideally I'd rather not be scoreless through 3 quarters. The Packers are missing their 2 best skill players and their two best linemen so winning these games is a great bonus, but it's very unclear when any of them are coming back. Maybe we're just a young team with the talent to play well but too inconsistent to do so regularly.
10. | (/CLE) | Browns | +4 | 2-1 | Lets be real, Myles Garrett and the Cleveland defense did more to help the win than Watson. Sacking Tannehill five times and holding him to just over one hundred passing yards, the defense did the dirty work. Watson did manage to connect with Ford, taking over for Nick Chubb who is done for the year. The Browns will host the Ravens next week.
11. | (/CIN) | Bengals | -- | 1-2 | The Bengals got a much needed win to stay just one game behind the rest of the AFC North. The team is clearly still not playing their best ball, but if they can sneak a few wins here or there while Burrow is still hurt then hopefully they will remain in contention long enough to go on a run when he gets back to 100%.
12. | (/SEA) | Seahawks | +4 | 2-1 | This week, The Seahawks proved they were KENOUGH taking care of business against the Panthers. Ken "Ken" Walker had a massive day, scampering for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns and catching 3 passes for 59 yards. DK did what DK does and the offense was groovin.... except for the redzone. They settled for 3 Jaason Myers field goal at or within 20 yards of the goal line. This needs to improve! The Seahawks top 2 picks, Devon Witherspoon and Derrick Hall, both had good games on an otherwise beatable defense. Monday Night against the Giants should be fun.
13. | (/ATL) | Falcons | -3 | 2-1 | It's one thing to keep your head down while sticking to a dedicated plan, emphasizing the importance of the trenches and showing improvement through hiccups season over season, controlling games and wearing teams out with the run. It's another thing to say those things, then turn around and skip over Sewell and Jalen Carter for Kyle Pitts and Bijan. Arthur can only be a sarcastic statue to the media if the Falcons keep winning, and a gameplan where Bijan and Allgeier combine for 17 carries is not a successful one, not with a "rookie" at the helm. If Ridder was asked to throw 40 times because the Lions third stringers were manhandling the LOS, who thinks that a recipe for success down the stretch? Falcons fans have seen too many seasons wasted by defensive lines that couldn't pressure quarterbacks and offensive lines that couldn't create opportunity for its skill players. It's not rocket science as to why Purdy is balling out so quickly and Goff is having a resurgence. Hurts is 20-1 is recent games he gets 6 seconds to throw the football, AS better not have to take note at this point.
14. | (/NO) | Saints | -2 | 2-1 | Aaron Rodgers has pulled out yet another heartbreaking late-game comeback win for the Packers, making gunslinging desperation veteran throws stick in crunch time. How long will he continue to terrorise people in the yellow and green Packers uniform? And he looks... younger somehow? Despite the result it was a thriller of a game with the Saints rolling (doing great) for most of it. Positively and negatively there wasn't much difference in the play whether it was Carr or Winston at QB.
15. | (/LAC) | Chargers | +2 | 1-2 | The Chargers @ Vikings game which was billed as the "game no team wanted to win" with the only gaurantee that some crazy shit would happen, and boy did it live up the

2023 Official r/NFL Week 3 Power Rankings

Welcome to week 3 of the official r/NFL Power Rankings! 2023 is the year of emotional intelligence in the NFL? Justin Fields seems to be at peace playing for a dumpster fire too big for Smokey, is any team worse? Meanwhile will Sean Payton learn from discovering teams don't run up the score against respected coaches? Jordan Love's 4th quarter comeback saved him from the wrath of Lambeau, but what does it mean for the rankings? Was the Cowboys loss a true implosion, or just a blip until it inevitably happens again in the divisional round? Discuss! 31/32 Reporting

1. | (/SF) | 49ers | -- | 3-0 | The 49ers shone on both sides of the ball on Thursday, turning in a strong 30-12 victory over the NY Giants. Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey shone on offense, and outside of a special teams blunder, the defense held the Giants offense in check for most of the game. The team looks to improve to 4-0 against the Cardinals on Sunday.
2. | (/MIA) | Dolphins | +2 | 3-0 | What happened on Sunday didn't feel real. A lot of us were questioning what we were watching. How could you not? 70 points and 726 yards of offense in a single game in today's NFL just seems impossible. Our rookie running back Devon Achane, who was our RB4 coming into the season, pulled a Jonas Gray out of nowhere and racked up 233 yards and 4 touchdowns. Our actual starting running back Raheem Mostert held us back only putting up 142 yards and 4 TDs. Tua was out there throwing no look passes for touchdowns. We're 3-0 and are finally regarded as serious Super Bowl contenders for the first time in decades. With all of that being said, going into week 4 we're still seen as underdogs (And deservedly so) headed to Buffalo to face a Bills team that have not only beaten their last two opponents by a combined 75-13, but have forced 9 total turnovers over that two-game span. Something has to give in this battle between an unstoppable offense and an immovable defense, and we'll find out which side gives this Sunday at 1 pm.
3. | (/PHI) | Eagles | -- | 3-0 | There’s been much discussion about the inconsistency of the Eagles offense with Hurts, but two things have kept the Eagles from notching the loss column: one, the rushing attack, especially via Swift, has been stellar behind a top o-line. It remains to be seen whether teams will sacrifice the blitzes that have been successful against Hurts in order to stop the run, but so far the biggest thing to carry over from 2022 has been the run game. And two, the Eagles were expecting to regress along the D-line, and while they likely won’t repeat 70 sacks this year, the front 4 have been outstanding. With losing Hargrave to FA, the idea was that the interior, even with Jalen Carter, would take a step back and the edge rushers would need to generate the majority of the pressure. Through three games, it’s been the opposite: the interior, led by the big three of Carter, who appears to be the next great rookie DT, Davis, who has taken a big leap in year 2, and Cox, who seems to have turned back the clock a few years, have been more disruptive than many hoped. As the Eagles sit at 3-0 on the top of their division, one thing remains clear: games are won in the trenches.
4. | (/KC) | Chiefs | +1 | 2-1 | I recently watched a video of a grown man terrorizing a small child while playing Among US VR. In hindsight it was probably something that truly traumatized the poor kid, but in a sick sort of way it was incredibly satisfying to watch. That’s about how I’d explain the Chiefs - Bears game. In a weekend with several complete massacres, the Chiefs had the most dominating half of football we’ve seen this year. The Bears were completely outmatched in

just in time for a murderer's row of games against top-tier NFL teams. And yet, you can bet your ass that every Giants fan was feeling the hype Sunday. Is Arizona a great team? No, but that comeback was still insane and some of the most fun Giants football over the past several years . Giants fans will now proceed to ride that high for the next couple of days until being inevitably pulled back down to earth with a gravitational force equal to that of the sun when they take on SF on the road on a short week sans Saquon Barkley. Yeah, it's about to get ugly folks.
27. | (/IND) | Colts | +1 | 1-1 | Excitement over the first win of the Shane Steichen era was a bit tempered by the loss of Anthony Richardson to a concussion, but Gardner "Uncle Rico" Minshew's complete dissection of the Houston defense (19/23 for 171 yards and a TD) helped ease the pain and assured Colts fans their team has one of the best backups in the league. Before leaving the game early in the second quarter, Richardson looked at ease in the offense, rushing for two touchdowns. Zack Moss returned from a broken arm to lead the run game with nearly 5 yards per carry on 18 attempts, an improvement the offense desperately needed after an embarrassing Week 1 output. Meanwhile, the Indy front seven took advantage of the Texans' backup O-line, sacking C.J. Stroud six times and forcing two fumbles. On to Baltimore!
28. | (/DEN) | Broncos | -1 | 0-2 |
29. | (/CAR) | Panthers | +1 | 0-2 |
30. | (/CHI) | Bears | -1 | 0-2 | I don't want to know anything anymore. This is a world where nothing is solved. Someone once told me, 'Time is a flat circle.' Everything we've ever done or will do, we're gonna do over and over and over again. And incompetent coaches and a cratering ‘franchise QB0’, they're gonna be in Halas Hall again and again and again forever.
31. | (/HOU) | Texans | -- | 0-2 | So what that the Texans are 0-2? Who cares that Indianapolis has more wins at NRG stadium in the past 2 years than Houston? I want to talk about CJ Stroud who, despite playing behind an offensive line with more holes in it than the plot to Back to the Future, was able to throw for 384 yards, 2 TDs, and 0 INTs. Not bad for being protected by your 4th and 5th string tackles and a 6th round rookie center. Nico Collins had his best day as a pro and Tank Dell also caught his first TD. Look, the Texans are going to be a mess for a couple more weeks until key players start returning from injury but there are some glimmers of hope right now if you squint hard enough.
32. | (/ARI) | Cardinals | -- | 0-2 | THAT’S WHAT I LIKE TO SEE. THAT’S THE TYPE OF FOOTBALL I WANNA WATCH, BABY! WHEN YOU COME AT THE KING, YOU BEST NOT MISS. THIS IS A FRANCHISE BUILT ON THE BACKS OF FAILED FIRST ROUND PICKS. CARDINALS 0-2. TEXANS 0-2. WHO’S REALLY WINNING HERE?

with a week 1 win. Week 2? God what a mess. Half the fans are here due to Nick Chubb and now that he is going, who knows what the team holds in store for its fans. The Browns will host the Titans next week.
15. | (/LAR) | Rams | +1 | 1-1 | The Rams’ 9th consecutive regular season loss to the Niners somehow didn’t feel too bad. This year’s matchup was a litmus test for contendership and it didn't feel like a total failure as this team of rookies made the Super Bowl favorites sweat. The margin for error is thin against the elite teams and this game really came down to a few plays where young players made mistakes. Expectations have shifted tremendously and a wildcard spot feels within grasp in an top-heavy NFC, especially with Cooper Kupp still expected back.
16. | (/SEA) | Seahawks | +3 | 1-1 |
17. | (/LAC) | Chargers | -6 | 0-2 | The Chargers offense and special teams are handcuffed to a corpse. The Chargers are the first team in NFL history to start the season scoring 50+ points, zero turnovers, and This feat is only possible due to their abysmal defense which currently ranks 32nd by most metrics (did I mention the defense is $20M more expensive than the 2nd most expensive defense). Combine that with the toothless in-game management and it increasingly begs the question of what exactly Brandon Staley does. The offense including Herbert definitely deserves the blame: they've had their chances at the end of games to close them out and failed. They've had their sputters, their three-and-out. It just with the way the defense operates they have no margin for error and every misstep is fatal. There are things up to clean up here and on special teams, but none of that matters until the defensive guru can get his defense to be moderately functional.
18. | (/TB) | Buccaneers | +5 | 2-0 | Getting your first home win against the Bears is like losing your virginity to a prostitute. You already know what will happen before she arrives. Sure, it does feel good during it and you're happy for the next few hours after it all ends, but two days later you are left wondering "...wait, does this count for something? Should I be happy? Isn't this like...easy mode?"... and then you hear some hot coeds from Philadelphia are coming next week so you decide to test out your newfound skills on them. Will it work? Idk, but at least you're confident things are not that bad!
19. | (/WAS) | Commanders | +5 | 2-0 | If you haven't noticed, the Commanders have a new ranker for the first season since 2010. Until this season, /u/ThatChrisDodge, a Washington devotee and /r/Commanders mod had been doing the rankings on our behalf. Sadly, he passed away earlier this year. We'll miss his contributions and involvement with our community. Hail to you, /u/ThatChrisDodge! Our sadness aside, the Washington Commanders are 2-0 for the first time since 2011, came back from an 18 point deficit to win, put 35 points of offense on the board and I don't know what to do with my hands. Chase Young is back and with a pass-rush win rate of 25% on Sunday, is looking elite. Sam Howell continues to impress, making some incredible throws and continuing to remain poised and unshook in any situation. Though the whole team started flat, all 3 units got in sync late and dominated the second half. Frankly, hope is back on the menu in Washington. Longtime fans of this franchise are now gripping our seats tightly waiting for the all too familiar other shoe to drop and the classic Redskins implosion to take place. Is the tide turning? Is the Snyder curse lifting? Much will be revealed in the next two weeks as Washington hosts Buffalo and then heads to Philadelphia.
20. | (/NYJ) | Jets | -6 | 1-1 | Sending Zach Wilson out there against Micah Parsons and the Cowboys defense with that OL was borderline cruel. The Jets now head home to meet the team that broke Zach last year. While Week 3 games are never technically must-win, it sure does feel like it for a quarterback that needs to prove he can win a game against a mediocre opponent. The Patriots aren't special and

2023 Official r/NFL Week 2 Power Rankings

Welcome to week 2 of the official r/NFL Power Rankings! It's still too early for most 0-2 teams to press the panic button...unless you're the Bears. Can Zac Taylor's amazing culture fix Burrow's ankle? How many quarters will Danny Dimes show up in week 3? Are the Patriots legitimately bad or are the dolphins that good? Discuss! 28/32 Reporting

1. | (/SF) | 49ers | -- | 2-0 | It wasn’t Brock Purdy’s best game, there were a few notable overthrows on potential big plays downfield, but he didn’t panic, made the plays needed to win a close divisional game. In the process he turned in his fifth consecutive start without an interception. The defense, which seemed unable to get stops in the first half, came up with 2 crucial second half turnovers. The team will have a short turnaround this week, playing the NY Giants on Thursday Night Football.
2. | (/DAL) | Cowboys | +1 | 2-0 | This is some of the most dominant football to open the season in recent memory. Dallas's scoring differential would be tied with the third most points scored in the league. Their point differential through two games is double that of the next team. The defense leads the league in yards allowed, passing yards allowed, sacks (tied for lead) and takeaways. The offense hasn't had to do much, but they have gone ahead and been productive, balanced and safe with the football. And with the exception of an opening missed PAT, special teams has been all you could ask for. It's hard to find an argument against calling Dallas the best team in football through two weeks.
3. | (/PHI) | Eagles | -1 | 2-0 | This is the ideal start to the season for Philadelphians: 2-0, but WIP’s phone lines ringing off the hook with fan complaints. It’s a win-win. The Eagles head into their mini-bye banged up on defense and having put shaky play on film on offense, but can look ahead to 3 straight games against teams with under .500 Vegas win odds going into the season.
4. | (/MIA) | Dolphins | +1 | 2-0 | It wasn't pretty, but it always feels good to escape with a win when you're on the road against a tough divisional opponent. It never felt like we were down our starting LT and DE as our offensive line did a great job protecting Tua, and our defensive line was excellent at making Mac Jones uncomfortable in the pocket. Next week we have our home opener against a reeling Denver Broncos as we hope to improve to a 3-0 start for the second season in a row.
5. | (/KC) | Chiefs | -1 | 1-1 | Being a Chiefs fan in the Mahomes era is a wild experience. Essentially every bone headed mistake a team can make was on full display last Sunday. The Chiefs lost the turnover battle, including one of the worst muffed punts I can ever remember watching. The Chiefs had 12 penalties which cost them 96 yards and killed drives. Travis Kelce dropped a pass in the end zone that ended up resulting in a field goal. Still, the Chiefs beat a Jaguars team that I fully expect to be in the playoffs this year by eight points. They did that while being in victory formation on a 1st and goal at the 1. Chris Jones is an animal, Kelce is still going to do GOAT TE things, and #15 on the red team is the best team sport athlete on Earth. When the Chiefs can win by 8 against a playoff team looking like that, imagine what they'll do when they start clicking again.
6. | (/BAL) | Ravens | +1 | 2-0 |
7. | (/BUF) | Bills | +1 | 1-1 | After what Allen and the offense looked like week 1, anything less than this kind of blowout would have raised some concern. The Bills should dominate teams like the Raiders —they went and did just that. Regardless of the quality of opponent, it was great to see Allen be decisive and efficient with the ball. No matter how good the defense and skill positions are, this team lives and dies on Allen's

29. | [](/CHI) | Bears | -4 | 0-1 | So I was sitting on my couch today, and I realized, ever since I started watching the Bears, every single Packers game of my life has been worse than the one before it. So that means that every single Sunday that you see me watching, that's on the worst day of my life.
30. | [](/CAR) | Panthers | -1 | 0-1 |
31. | [](/HOU) | Texans | -- | 0-1 |
32. | [](/ARI) | Cardinals | -- | 0-1 | Yay! Or boo? I don't know, I'm still undecided on this whole tanking thing. At the very least we looked more competitive than some teams this week. Josh Dobbs ain't the guy, and if Kyler makes it back this year we could steal some games.

enlighten me to the top tier cornerbacks in the next draft? Because the Cardinals need one of them. Or all of them. The scheme is good, the talent is lacking. Corners and DLine should be the priority. Please.
28. | (/NE) | Patriots | -2 | 1-4 | Trees like to grow in fungally dominated soil. Fungal mycelia break down deadwood and leaves, converting it into valuable resources for the ecosystem. Life feeds on death. As we creep close to Samhain, the veil between life and death grows thin. The most decorated franchise run in NFL history continues to show signs of rot. The story is not over after just 5 weeks, but with the two most important defensive players gone and an offense that might as well punt when faced with 3rd and 2, it’s within reason to be looking at options for palliative care. You see, whatever happens next, the question of the moment remains “How do you face death?” Do you fear it so much that you hide and distract yourself to pass the time until it comes? Do you weep for the loss before it even arrives? Do you rage in anger at the injustice of it? Do you gather loved ones close to reminisce? Me? I embrace the inevitability and give the old reaper a run for his money with defiant laughter in my heart until the bitter end. 12 teams are still lined up to gorge themselves on the corpse of the great tree that Tom and Bill grew. I hope the faithful of Foxboro find fiendish frenzy, fighting to the final echo of the last whistle. I fear they may freeze in the cold sunlight of New England Winter. A simple way to kickstart myceliation in soil is to spread a thick layer of wood chips.
29. | (/NYG) | Giants | -- | 1-4 | Wake me up when the big blue men can't hurt me anymore
30. | (/CHI) | Bears | +2 | 1-4 | We actually won a game, and I don't know what to write. Chicago celebrated Fat Bear Week by force feeding DJ Moore as much as possible. Did you know DJ loves to cook? Apparently his specialty is ramen, and he's working on perfecting the noodles.
31. | (/DEN) | Broncos | -1 | 1-4 | Take, take, take. Your thieving hands break in and take whatever they want from me. Fake, fake, fake. Your promises are pretend and the joy I used to feel was built on lies. Mistake, mistake. Every penny I spent on you was wasted. Broncos Country is barren. The fallow soil has not been reseeded. Put down your tools, you don't know how to use them. Instead let us starve as we watch the last of the rotten crops spoil in the field. You'd been given ample time and resources. Patience is a worn brake pad on the wheels of our runaway vehicle, destined to crash and kill us all as we drive out of this collapsing town. As we lay dying, search the wreckage for any valuables you can parlay for a chance to blight a new collection of desperate fools.
32. | (/CAR) | Panthers | -1 | 0-5 | Reich has already called out Tepper's meddling, and now there's a report he wanted Stroud all along. This always ends well.

six as Ridder plays with the cushion of another home game. The falcons have five TOTAL sacks after five weeks, if they can't capitalize on Sam Howell they might not finish the season with double digits.
17. | (/IND) | Colts | +3 | 3-2 | While terminally online Colts fans race to become the foremost experts on AC joint sprains, the Indy offense faces multiple weeks without Anthony Richardson (actual recovery timeline TBD). But with Zack "It's Actually Short for Zaccheus" Moss exploding for nearly 200 yards from scrimmage against the Titans and former All-Pro Jonathan Taylor newly extended and back in the fold, the Colts hope to weather the storm with GOAT backup Gardner Minshew, who has now finished all three of Indy's wins this season. First-time head coach Shane Steichen deserves a ton of credit for essentially having two offensive game plans ready to go at all times this season. But now he can take some time to focus on Minshew, who will likely be the leader of this offense for the next several weeks (at least). Thank god the Colts didn't trade him to the Jets, huh?
18. | (/CIN) | Bengals | +4 | 2-3 | Overall the Bengals looked better, but not great on Sunday. The most important thing was that Joe Burrow was able to move around in the pocket more than he has at any point so far this year. He targeted Ja'Marr Chase early and often as Ja'Marr's Ocho Cinco-esque claims of always being open were true on this day. The Bengals can get back to .500 with a win on Sunday against the sneaky good Seattle Seahawks.
19. | (/PIT) | Steelers | +4 | 3-2 | Shockingly, the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves somehow in 1st place in the AFC North, despite being 30th in total yards gained per game, 32nd in 1st downs, 31st in time of possession, 30th in yards allowed, and 29th in points per game. Besides luck, the reason for their success? This team is succeeding in the intangibles. Low penalty rate and lack of inopportune penalties. Defensive plays like sacks, takeaways, and stops when it counts. Surprises on special teams. All of that said, things find a way to regress to the mean, and the Steelers are both playing like a terrible team and a really good one all at the same time. As the years go on in Tomlin's tenure as head coach, the floor somehow seems to get lower and lower and the ceiling gets higher and higher. No team has this level of variance and inconsistency. Heading into the bye, which team will emerge from it to face the Rams in LA in two weeks? The good one? The bad one? Or maybe they're inexplicably both the same team.
20. | (/GB) | Packers | -7 | 2-3 | I hate our schedule this year. Thursday Night game to a Monday Night game to a Bye Week. With the injuries we've had you'd think it'd be a blessing to get some time to recoup but after two dud games on national TV it just feels like an opportunity to stew in our own mediocrity for 23 days. Love needs to be better, Lafleur needs to be better, everyone needs to be better. Well except Anders Carlsen you played a better game than your brother did on the other sideline and I'm so proud of you keep it up!
21. | (/TEN) | Titans | -4 | 2-3 | The Titans continue their bad habit of not being able to put together consistent performances and playing out of sorts while on the road. The game was tight throughout, but the usually strong and reliable Titans run defense let up too many big plays complimented by poor play and terribly timed penalties from the Titans secondary. The Titans offense was able to move the ball and get DeAndre Hopkins involved for his best performance as a Titan, but the finishing on drives just wasn’t there. The Titans got to the Colt’s 35 yard line six times on Sunday but were only able to convert one

Official r/NFL Week 5 Power Rankings

Welcome to week 5 of the official r/NFL Power Rankings! The Cowboys beat themselves for the second time in three weeks, Sean Paytons ego continues to backfire on him like acme brand dynamite, and Belichick is wishing he had as many kids as Philip Rivers to add to his sinking ship. What do close losses to top teams mean for the Rams and Vikings? Did it take the spirit of Dick Butkis for Sam Howell to get sacked 5 times? Will Jordan Love bounce back like Desmond Ridder? Discuss! 29/32 Reporting

1. | (/SF) | 49ers | -- | 5-0 | The 49ers dominated on both sides of the ball to the tune of a 42-10 drubbing of the Cowboys. Brock Purdy threw 3 of his 4 touchdown passes to George Kittle, while still keeping his interceptionless streak intact. On the defensive side, Fred Warner led the unit with a sack, a forced fumble and an interception on the day. The team looks to keep taking care of business as they travel to Cleveland to face the Browns.
2. | (/PHI) | Eagles | +1 | 5-0 | While the red zone offense continues to struggle, the team as a whole is beginning to pass the eye test. On Sunday in Inglewood, Jalen was aggressive on the ground and through the air. The defensive line took over the game in the second half as Eagles fans were used to seeing for much of 2022. AJ Brown continues to dominate, now fourth in the NFL in receiving yards with three monster games in a row. Is it too early to be talking about the race for the 1-seed with SF? Probably. It’s going to be a long couple months of matching up these teams on paper before they meet in Philly on December 3rd.
3. | (/KC) | Chiefs | +1 | 4-1 | Sloppy games have been the story for the Chiefs for the first 5 weeks. The Chiefs are one of the best teams in the sport and they've been able to make up for those shortcomings through the first five weeks by leaning on talent and coaching but things are going to have to start clicking before the schedule starts getting tougher. Fortunately the Chiefs play Denver 2 out their next 3 games, so there's plenty of time to work out the kinks.
4. | (/MIA) | Dolphins | +2 | 4-1 | Another game, another 500+ yard performance. Reflecting on this win on a Tuesday morning feels a little bittersweet because although we handily beat the Giants 31-16, we ended up losing our rookie sensation De'Von Achane for at least a few weeks due to a knee injury. The rookie had 518 total yards, was averaging 12 yards a carry, and had 7 total touchdowns in the three games he had major snaps in. Despite losing him though, our season is in great shape as we head into our week 5 matchup against Carolina with a 4-1 record and a slight division lead over a suddenly injury riddled Bills team.
5. | (/DET) | Lions | +2 | 4-1 | The Lions steamrolled Carolina in a game that was not nearly as close as even the 42-24 score makes it seem. No St. Brown and Gibbs were no problem as they cruised on offense behind a nearly perfect Goff, and the defense flexed their big play ability with three turnovers, including an absolutely absurd pick by DE Aidan Hutchinson, who at this point has to be considered a dark horse for DPOY. Jameson Williams had a quiet game receiving in his debut, but his passion out there is evident and his run blocking was superb, with David Montgomery’s 42-yard TD to open up scoring happening thanks in part to a key inside block by Jamo, who then raced after him to make sure he kept clean to the house. Finally, my heart goes out to Emmanuel Moseley, who tore his ACL only two plays into his season debut a year and a day after tearing his ACL against Carolina week 5 of 2022. Get well soon, man.
6. | (/BUF) | Bills | -4 | 3-2 | One week the Bills look like a wagon, the next week they come out completely flat. London games are always tough, and the Jags are a good team,

We have hit another million in 4 months. We are currently getting between 13k and 18k subscribers per day! For a sub that is off of r/all (except once a year) that kind of growth is crazy.

2006 -- but Herbert proved why folks put him in that elite status, ripping missiles all through the Vikings' defense under heavy duress. The Vikings moved the ball really well on offense, averaging over five yards per carry and nailing several big explosives downfield (would you believe the Vikings are second only to the Dolphins this season in yards per play?), but in the end the Vikings' dropped the game-winning pass, which then, in true Vikings fashion, turned into the game-sealing interception.
26. | (/OAK) | Raiders | -1 | 1-2 | I can't wait to fire McDaniels and start our 10th rebuild in the last 20 years. One of them is bound to work eventually.
27. | (/NYG) | Giants | -1 | 1-2 | In a game that went according to everyone's expectations, the Giants proved they really can't hang with the big boys on Thursday. A tough start to the season for a team that was riding the high of Brian Daboll's inaugural campaign and their first playoff win in over a decade. Big Blue was always going to be dependent on its younger players to step up to the plate in a roster that's still trying to build up its talent, and so far those players have mostly disappointed. Another tough matchup awaits in yet another primetime game (seriously, who enjoys watching primetime Giants? I know I sure don't) when the G-Men take on Seattle on Monday night.
28. | (/HOU) | Texans | +3 | 1-2 | The date is January 12th, 2020. With 10:54 remaining in the 2nd quarter at Arrowhead Stadium, the Houston Texans kick a field goal to go up 24-0 against the heavily favored Chiefs. Little did Texans fans know that this would be the final moment of hope that they would have for their team for the next 1,352 days. Now, after an upset win on the road over the Jags, it finally feels like the new era of Texans football has begun. The rookies came to play with CJ Stroud throwing for 280 yds and 2 TDs, Tank Dell catching 145 yds and a TD, and Will Anderson showing up on special teams with a blocked field goal try. But honestly the true star of the game was 255lb Fullback Andrew Beck, who became the heaviest player in NFL history to return a kickoff to the house.
29. | (/ARI) | Cardinals | +3 | 1-2 | The last time Mike McCarthy got embarrassed by the Cardinals, he got fired from the Packers. Wait, hold on. I’m being told by my writing staff that he’s actually been embarrassed an additional two times between the Packers and this week. That’s rough! I feel so bad! Anyways, Joshua “Passtronaut” Dobbs had a respectable 189 yds, 1 TD on 17/21 passing and 55 rushing yds. He was poised and surgical, taking everything this supposed top defense was giving him. It’s alright Cowboys, a few more years and you guys will be really scary!
30. | (/CAR) | Panthers | -1 | 0-3 | The offensive line has struggled so much in Carolina that the opposing pass rush even broke our ranker! After years of service, u/knaveofknives has decided to step down. We are actively searching for a new ranker at this time. If you are interested, please check the post in the team subreddit.
31. | (/DEN) | Broncos | -3 | 0-3 | Sing in me, o muse, the tale of the Denver Broncos. There was Sean Payton, a fearless leader with a mind like swirling cinders. Russell Wilson, man of talent, a quarterback who within himself dwelled an army. Each mortal frame adorned with orange and blue found succor in the fruits of the field painted in the colors of war. But lo, I have seen behind the furthest stars of our night sky and I have beheld the truth: the points we score, yea indeed the points scored against us, will never pierce our bodies. No harm can come to rest upon the shoulders of our giants which has not first been tempered and tamed by the divine promise. We shall not be driven from the light of joy, and no future injury can be recounted to sting our minds or bludgeon our limbs. Acknowledge not the poison your eyes drink in from the telecast. Instead, be calmed each week as I recall the for you the truth. The brightness of our stars wax

billing.. This game featured a should-be INT that turned into the go-ahead score for the Chargers, a should-be game-winning TD that turned into a game-ending INT, a goal-line stand from 1st and goal at the 1, and a failed 4th down attempt at the Chargers own 24 in the final minutes of a one-score game that sure to send analytics Twitter ablaze. And that was just the last 8 minutes. The defense took a step forward in that they were able to get a few stops and ultimately close out the game, but the fact that in a day that Herbert and Keenan Allen set broke at sorts of career, franchise, and league records and the game STILL came down to the final play tells you the continued state of this team.
16. | (/JAX) | Jaguars | -7 | 1-2 | What a clusterfuck. The Jags need to find themselves, quickly.
17. | (/TB) | Buccaneers | +1 | 2-1 | After a Sunday slate where we kept hearing news about Kelce and Swift, it was time for Monday Night Football. And oh boy, Kelce and Swift showed up again. The good news are that the Buccaneers won't face SB caliber teams every week. The bad news are... well, everything else, as nothing worked as intended. Nothing new for this franchise and MNF games, really.
18. | (/LAR) | Rams | -3 | 1-2 | Quick question: what should the game plan be when you're facing a terrible rushing defense, struggling to pass-block after a few starting O-linemen went down, in a close game, and your defense is unexpectedly balling out? If you said "only pass the ball", congratulations—you are as galaxy-brained as Sean McVay. Frustration abounds due to some atrocious coaching, going 1-11 on third down, and (salt warning) some questionable officiating. This felt like a fairly winnable game.
19. | (/PIT) | Steelers | +4 | 2-1 | With each passing week, the offense has improved from the previous week in total yards, rushing yards, and passing yards. It's a work in progress, but the arrow is pointing ever-so-slightly up. On paper, the duo of Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace sounds pretty good, but in practice, they hadn't found any rhythm until this week. Not only did Wallace step it up and not get picked on, but got some picks as well. The Steelers can feel better about themselves winning on the road as they stay there for a matchup against a CJ Stroud-led Texans team that throws the ball relentlessly and protects the QB well enough deserve being noticed.
20. | (/WAS) | Commanders | -1 | 2-1 | In what many saw as the first real test of the Rivera-led Commanders this season, the results are in: It's an F. As this lifelong fan and ranker recognized last week: "Longtime fans of this franchise are now gripping our seats tightly waiting for the all too familiar other shoe to drop and the classic Redskins implosion to take place." And alas, here we are. I could be hallucinating, but I swear I saw one of those Josh Allen commercials after this loss and he literally said "Dan Snyder sends his regards". What a disaster. It was another flat-footed start for this team, only this time there wasn't even a chance at redemption. The defense was about the only part of this team that looked semi-competent, and that's a low bar considering how many times they got absolutely torched for big chunk plays. But the real story of this game is Eric Bienemy's offense helmed by Sam Howell. The duo could not get anything working for long, and any time a rhythm started, disaster soon followed. It rests largely on Howell as he posted 4INTs, all of which were backbreakers. Fans knew this was going to be a long shot to win, but there was expectation it would at least be competitive. It's not like the schedule is getting much easier. And as this team continues to start games slowly and flat, it won't be long before fans call on new owner Josh Harris to move on from Rivera and give Bienemy his shot. 2-1 is still a great start, but if this team can't put together a competitive game against the 3-0 Eagles this week, expect a lot of panic button pressing in this fanbase.

all 3 phases, all while millions of non football fans watched just to get a glimpse of Trav’s new girl in the stands. Patrick forced him the ball in the end zone saying that he felt pressure to get him a touchdown. Next week the Chiefs play the Jets which should test the team’s new found confidence on offense. On the other side Wilson and company will likely find it incredibly difficult to move the ball against one of the top defensive units in the sport.
5. | (/BUF) | Bills | +2 | 2-1 | Yes, they’ve played three mediocre-to-bad offenses, but man this Bills defense looks stout. The switch from Leslie Frazier to Sean McDermott calling plays is already playing dividends. This defensive front is more aggressive at getting after the QB than it’s been at any point in McDermott’s tenure, and after an ugly week 1, it looks like the offense has come back around. This week will be the biggest test yet though, particularly for this defense. The Raiders and Commanders are one thing, but how will they fare against an offense that just put up 70?
6. | (/DAL) | Cowboys | -4 | 2-1 | Well that sucked. Every team gets one free "oops we shit out pants" game a year, and Dallas decided to play that card extra early this year. There are lots of reasons to completely write it off. Only one offensive line starter repeated from last week, which impacted protection early on. They seemed to get it together later in the game, but it was too late on then. The secondary had a lot of shuffling with the injury to Trevon Diggs and the return of Donovan Wilson, which might explain the communication issues and blown coverages. However, there were some lingering issues that were concerning. Offensive playcalling failed to adapt to defensive playcalling, and red zone production continues to be an issue. Poor gap discipline and an inability to set the edge open huge running lanes. All of these things are fixable, and none of them take away from the talent of each side of the ball, but this game generated some concerns.
7. | (/DET) | Lions | +1 | 2-1 | This win rests squarely on the shoulders of General Manager Brad Holmes and his ability to draft impact rookies. From the 2023 Draft: Jahmyr Gibbs out-dueled fellow first round RB Bijan Robinson in his first game as the lead back, Jack Campbell had his first NFL sack, Sam LaPorta set a plethora of NFL rookie TE records, and Brian Branch was a heat-seeking missile against the run and the pass. The Lions displayed the defensive dominance Aaron Glenn is capable of dialing up, with SIX different players sacking Desmond Ridder while one of the most dynamic rushing attacks in the NFL were held to 44 yards on 20 carries. This was a breakout for a squad missing both starting safeties and an integral pass rusher, and they absolutely shined in the face of heavy criticism after the Seattle flop. The largest concern for the Lions right now is the tackle spot, where rookie 5th round guard Colby Sorsdal finished the game playing RT. If the defense can continue to play like this, however, the offense will just need to find a splash or two to keep the Lions in the win column moving forward, and as Sam LaPorta showed this week, they are certainly capable of that.
8. | (/BAL) | Ravens | -2 | 2-1 | When assessing the best teams in the league we often get caught up in who has the best quarterback, which team leads in point/turnover differential, who leads in advanced metrics like EPA or DVOA. Sometimes it's much simpler than all that though; it's simply "Which teams win the games they're supposed to?". In the NFL, every game is hard (just ask the Cowboys) and all the little things make the difference (much like myself finally posting this in the right place for once). It's easy to scapegoat a fresh off the street FA RB fumble, a backup TE dropped pass, a rare missed Tucker field goal in poor weather, a chaotic game clock conundrum, or some questionable flags/no flags but at the end of the day this is a game we were supposed to win and we didn't. Get your ice baths

haven't been since before Tom Brady left. They're just an 0-2 team with a limited offense and a good defense. If Wilson can't find a way to win at home against this divisional opponent, the season is cooked.
21. | (/TEN) | Titans | +4 | 1-1 | Going into week 2 there were a swarm of questions surrounding Ryan Tannehill’s subpar week 1 performance. Going up against a widely praised Chargers team set up for a difficult challenge for Tannehill and the Titans overall. But Ryan Tannehill stepped up with a stellar performance putting up a 123.3 QBR and leading the Titans to an overtime win ending an 8 game losing streak. This was the first Titans win since November 17, 2022.
22. | (/MIN) | Vikings | -5 | 0-2 |
23. | (/PIT) | Steelers | -1 | 1-1 | For the Steelers, it was high ceiling, low floor, as usual. For the Browns, it was that, and more. Losing Chubb hurt during the game, having his same reconstructed knee get reinjured is devastating. No one wants to see that. The game really changed because the Steelers were able to get inside pressure on Watson instead of having Chubb slash them up from the middle. Steelers linebacking is starting fall into place, especially where Alex Highsmith was concerned. Individually, most of the players did well, although there were numerous questionable playcalls on defense. Damonte Kazee was trying to clean up messes all night, whereas Levi Wallace was just a mess most of the time. There were too many times he expected help, needed help, and didn't get help. Gunner Olszewski's injury seems to be addition by subtraction. Jaylen Warren seems to be part of a good 1-2 punch with Najee Harris, so with luck, the OC can build on that. Ultimately, this was an ugly win. The offense was MIA most of the game, the Steelers benefitted from some questionable calls, as well as injuries. Conversely, the defense played out of their minds at times, and the running game was gritty and determined. This team is truly enigmatic when it comes to how dynamic they can be and how mediocre they often are.
24. | (/NE) | Patriots | -4 | 0-2 | Autumn is a good time to plant trees. Get them in the ground before it is frozen, their roots will set, and they will wake in Spring. Speaking of Spring, each year for decades to come yet, Tom will join the Patriots family in their hall of unimaginable glory. For some part of that time, Bill will be with him him. Together in fellowship they will welcome knights to the round table; knights whose greatest traits were putting the success of the group ahead of the individual. As of the last few days of summer in this two thousand twenty third year of the chistchild’s imperium, I know not who on the battlefront is on the path to such immortality. Surely Matthew Slater has a place setting reserved, but he is the last holdover of the company who set forth on truly great adventures. Now he speaks to this green crew of hopefuls. Some will yet emerge and become legend… but not this Sunday. The football gods have not yet seen fit to bless THESE Patriots. Their souls have not yet been purified by fire. Their hearts have not yet been hardened to the chaos of the melee. Their mouths have not yet found a taste for blood. It will be autumn soon, though. Autumn is a good time to plant trees.
25. | (/OAK) | Raiders | -4 | 1-1 | The Raiders proved that no matter what, they will be the Raiders. We suck, we always have sucked, and we always will suck. That being said we are still on top of the division so what's that say about the rest of the AFCW? Well... Okay, maybe standings aren't indictive of who's better or worse than another team. Home opener this week! can't wait for another 50/50 split in the crowd, as is custom since moving to Vegas.
26. | (/NYG) | Giants | -- | 1-1 | The Giants were down 20-0 going into the 2nd half and 60-0 through their first 6 quarters of the season. The Giants defense allowed an offense heralded by Josh Dobbs to put up 28 points on them. The Giants have a number of holes and inconsistencies in a talent-deficient roster that's now beset by injuries

performance.
8. | (/DET) | Lions | -2 | 1-1 | Whelp, that was disappointing. The Seahawks have been Detroit’s kryptonite as of late (they are 5-0 over the last decade and 3-0 in the MCDC Era), this is not surprising per se, but there is work to be done by Aaron Glenn if this team wants to live up to the hype. While the offense showed much better poise and ability than they did against KC, the defense was wholly unable to get pressure on Geno Smith—despite Seattle missing both starting tackles—and the secondary’s soft coverage was systematically picked apart by Tyler Lockett and Co. To make matters worse, CJGJ is out for potentially the season and James Houston for 6-8 games. Safety and Edge are allegedly our deepest defensive spots and Tracy Walker and Romeo Okwara have been successful in the past, but the defense has a lot to overcome and even more to prove against Atlanta next week.
9. | (/JAX) | Jaguars | +1 | 1-1 | If the Jags — Chiefs was a benchmark game, what did we learn? The Jaguars aren't there; Yet. We also learned that if the endzone were six inches longer (which I'm told is plenty,) the way the contest played out would be wildly different. Any of the 4 near-touchdown plays that might have scored in those situations would have made for a far closer, perhaps different outcome. The week 1 sloppiness lingered into the JAX heat, though the defense found their footing nicely vs. a top shelf squad. The Jags are oozing with potential, but few teams will win in the NFL going 0/4 on redzone trips. Stay tuned for the next show, when Burgers come to Jacksonville.
10. | (/ATL) | Falcons | +8 | 2-0 | Some may laugh at Falcons players for believing in and standing beside Ridder, but Desmond is a quarterback who only gets better as the game goes on. If Ridder can continue to make small game-by-game improvements, by season end Atlanta will have a helluva quarterback handing every snap off to Bijan. A madden create a player with madden moves, expect weekly kudos to Mr. mustard. In an offense when London, Hollins, and Pitts earn their stat lines, the Falcons quite handedly mask their weaknesses. In an offense when they sputter, they need to rely on a defense entering what feels like a 15th straight year with a below average sack total. Keep it up Arthur
11. | (/CIN) | Bengals | -2 | 0-2 | The Bengals start 0-2 for the second year in a row. They managed to turn it around last year, but that was with a fully healthy Joe Burrow. If Joe misses any substantial amount of time, or continues below 100%, this team will see its playoff window shut for the year.
12. | (/NO) | Saints | +3 | 2-0 | 2-0 baby! The defense is humming, allowing the offense time to find its feet. And the offensive line is playing like it doesn't know it has feet - 8 sacks in two weeks is not a trend which can continue. Fun fact: this was the 10th straight game where the Saints allowed 20 or fewer points.
13. | (/GB) | Packers | -- | 1-1 | New quarterback, same choked leads. Despite a second 3 TD 0 INT game from Jordan Love, The Packers failed at just the wrong times to drop a road game against Atlanta. Is it Joe Barry's fault? The defense struggled to make 3rd down stops in the 4th quarter but many defenses would crumble if they stood on the field for 13 of the last 16 minutes of the game. So do we blame Lafleur's flaccid play calling? Well if it wasn't for AJ Dillon tripping and Jordan Love blurting the wrong play call, the offense could have ran out enough time to win. Is it Love's fault then? Even with some questionable throws at the very end of the game, the other three quarters where he was making all the right reads and the Falcons were committing DPI's to stop him from hitting deep shots shows there's something more to it. Sometimes it's everyone's fault and no one's fault, and you just gotta move on.
14. | (/CLE) | Browns | -2 | 1-1 | Chubb is done for the season. We won, but at what cost? (Puts finger to ear) What's that? Oh, I'm being told we also lost the game? Perfect. All of last years talk over Watson seemed to slip away

OPINION If the "Tush Push" QB Sneak was an unfair play, everyone would be able to do it

Here's a clip of the Colts trying and failing to do it against Jacksonville.

The Eagles shouldn't be penalized for having a good O-Line. I'm sure the league came to the same conclusion when they decided not to ban it in the offseason.

Edit with a bonus stat to validate this:

Fun stat: 4 other teams tried the Eagles QB sneak. Combined success rate? 0 for 4

Edit 2:

Thought it was an interesting point someone made that Gardner Minshew was 0/2 on QB sneaks last year with us. Jalen Hurts' ability to squat 600 pounds is a factor people are most likely underrating.

GONE.** That's right, the dark cloud of Daniel Snyder over DC has split and given way to the light of the Harris ownership era. Everyone gets a beer and an awkward handshake! Oh, and you also get a week one win at an unrecognizably burgundy and gold filled Fedex Field. Even fan favorites John "The Diesel" Riggins (be still my beating heart), Sonny Jurgenson, Clinton Portis and RG3 came home to Fedex Field for game day, sending a message of healing to this battered fanbase. The only thing that could possibly make this week better would be watching a division opponent get utterly embarrassed on primetime, but let's not get greedy. QB Sam Howell is 2-0 as the starting man for this team, and his week one performance is enough to give Commanders fans some optimism that he could be **him**. There were mistakes, but the man stayed poised in the pocket and continues to impress with his athleticism and rifle of an arm. But if fans are starting to feel good about Howell, they might start feeling even better about the defense; especially with Chase Young sidelined yet again. Washington's defense kept an admittedly weak Cardinals offense completely out of the end zone and limited to 210 yards total. It's a decent start to the 2023 campaign in a division that the Commanders share with two Super Bowl favorites. Much needs to go in their favor this season to keep pace, but fans have to be feeling some hope heading in to Denver next week.
24. | [](/PIT) | Steelers | -8 | 0-1 | Yikes. The Keanu Neal+Levi Wallace side of the field was...not great. It was almost as if Watt were funneling the 49ers to success over and over again on the left side. Cam Heyward getting hurt was huge. Pickett found his own way to dink and dunk...unsuccessfully. He was zoned in on a target over and over. Patrick Peterson ran his mouth and he got his comeuppance again and again. This is not a promising start, the defense wasn't ready and the offense failed to show up, especially the line.
25. | [](/TEN) | Titans | -7 | 0-1 | Week 1 for the Titans was a story of a stout defense and an incompetent offense. Ryan Tannehill threw for 3 interceptions, 0 touchdowns, a 28.8 QBR and under 200 yards. It was his worst performance as a Titans QB and too much for the defense to overcome. The Titans pass rush was a bright spot keeping constant pressure on Carr and the Saints offensive line, but without production from the offense it was not enough.
26. | [](/NYG) | Giants | -11 | 0-1 | Pitiful. Lifeless. Embarrassing.
