“Anyone who studies present and ancient affairs will easily see how in all cities and all peoples there still exist, and have always existed, the same desires and passions. Thus, it is an easy matter for him who carefully examines past events to foresee future events in a republic and to apply the remedies employed by the ancients, or, if old remedies cannot be found, to devise new ones based upon the similarity of the events. But since these matters are neglected or not understood by those who read, or, if understood, remain unknown to those who govern, the result is that the same problems always exist in every era.”

— Niccolò Machiavelli

It is not honorable to blame others for one's failures and suffering.

Cowards who take refuge in victimhood status resort to adopting such a mindset.

Suffering is a fact of life, therefore lamenting one's personal tribulations is unbecoming, disgraceful.

And what measure of growth could such an unseemly stance ever provide one who has made one's business the overcoming of all weakness? None.

Simulacra and the Dialectical Defeat of the Right

Rose Sybil and Chilon dissect how the Right’s continuous concessions to the Left have led to the former’s persistent defeat; they analyze the dialectical and metaphysical reasons behind this trend and propose methods to counter the dynamic by distinguishing between authentic reality and constructed simulacra, and by addressing the erosion and transformation of traditional values and political stances.

An interesting detail from the Rök runestone comes from the line ul niruþr sibi uiauari, which commemorates a man called Sibbi of Vé who had a son at the age of ninety.

The runestone also features a battle in which twenty kings died: kunukar tuair tikir. This is considered by scholars to be the Battle of Brávellir c. 770 AD in which the Swedes from Uppland under King Sigurðr hringr fought the Gautar under the Danish king, Háraldr hilditǫnn.

If it is commemorating that battle, it is significant because Sigurðr's forces included Starkaðr, who was blessed by Woden/Óðinn according to Saxo Grammaticus' Gesta Danorum. STJ made a cool video on Starkaðr a while back.

The commemoration of Sibbi of Vé having a son at the age of ninety reminds me of the advice from Woden/Óðinn in Hávamál verse 72:

"Better to have a son than not, even if he is born late in life, even if he is born after you die. You will rarely see gravestones standing near the road that were raised for men without sons."

From an esoteric standpoint, the quote "The self that I am going to build up from now on is as strong as death" by Takeo Arishima can be seen as a profound inner transformation. Esoterically, this signifies a spiritual or metaphysical rebirth where the individual transcends ordinary existence to achieve a higher state of consciousness or enlightenment. The comparison to death implies a shedding of the old self, much like a symbolic death, to give rise to a new, more resilient and enlightened self. This transformation is often viewed as a deeply personal and mystical journey, indicating inner strength and the attainment of profound wisdom.

From an exoteric standpoint, which relates to external or publicly understandable interpretations, the quote can be understood as a commitment to personal development and fortitude. Exoterically, it means the individual is determined to construct a new identity that is as inevitable and unwavering as death. This might involve adopting new habits, values, and perspectives that render the person unshakeable in the face of life's challenges. It is a public declaration of resilience and the intent to build a character that is strong, enduring, and unyielding in the face of adversity.

In both interpretations, the essence lies in the strength and permanence of the new self, but the esoteric view focuses on inner, spiritual transformation, while the exoteric view emphasizes outward, personal development

"Yet we also need to contemplate the possibility that we have done this to ourselves—just as the Soviets did many of the same things to themselves. It was a common liberal worry during the Cold War that we might end up becoming as ruthless, secretive, and unaccountable as the Soviets because of the exigencies of the nuclear arms race. Little did anyone suspect that we would end up becoming as degenerate as the Soviets, and tacitly give up on winning the cold war now underway."

I do not believe in freedom of speech. It has always been a chimera. It is perfectly reasonable and legitimate for those in power to restrict their enemy’s speech. I would do the same.

Ezra Pound and American Fascism
by Victor C. Ferkiss

Pound's political views closely parallel those of other persons who, together with Pound, are commonly called American Fascists. The problem thus arises of whether the use of the term "American Fascist" is intellectually justifiable in this or any other case. The use of this term is justifiable inasmuch as a number of American political theorists and populists—Pound among them—espouse sets of beliefs which have more in common with one another and with European fascism than they do with any other broad area of political thought. The principal exponents of this creed were, besides Pound, the late Huey Long, Father Charles E. Coughlin, Gerald L. K. Smith, and Lawrence Dennis.

American fascism had its roots in American populism; it pursued the same ends and even used many of the same slogans.
