Evaluation of Circ_0000977-Mediated Regulatory Network in Breast Cancer: A Potential Discriminative Biomarker for Triple-Negative Tumors

▪️Previous investigations have revealed that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play pivotal roles in cancer development and progression by participating in several biological procedures, such as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks.
▪️Recently, circRNAs have been proposed as non-invasive, stable, and affordable cell-free biomarkers for cancer screening and test monitoring.
▪️Functional and correlation analyses revealed APC and GATA3 could be regulated by circ_0000977/miR-135b-5p ceRNA axis, which presents valuable insight into circ-0000977-mediated gene silencing involved in the ceRNA network of TNBC.
▪️This study uncovered the potential clinical implication of circ_0000977 for the diagnosis and treatment of TNBC patients.

🌀A new metric that promotes inclusivity and accuracy in measuring scientific research output!
🌀One of USERN's long-term aims is to take the lead in the scientific world by enacting universal science policies. To accomplish this purpose, members of USERN's Advisory Board were chosen from a list of the top 1% of researchers who are experts in various fields of science.
🌀We created the UR-Index to overcome the shortcomings of previously existing research metrics. The UR-Index is derived by combining five component variables: publication type, author byline position, co-author count, citation count, and source metric of each article. The inclusion of these characteristics for quantifying research output is critical.
🌀The UR-Index may become an increasingly useful instrument for evaluating and comparing research output as the area of scientific research evolves and diversifies.

Historical Cohort of Severe Congenital Neutropenia in Iran: Clinical Course, Laboratory Evaluation, Treatment, and Survival

🌀Thirty-seven eligible patients with a mean age of 28.51 ± 24.38 months at the time of diagnosis were included.
🌀The most prevalent infectious symptoms were oral infections followed by respiratory infections.
🌀We identified HAX-1 mutation in 4, ELANE mutation in 4 cases, G6PC3 mutation in 1, and WHIM syndrome in 1 case. Other patients remained genetically unclassified.
🌀After the median follow-up of 36 months from the time of diagnosis, the overall survival was 88.88%. The mean event-free survival was 185.84 months (95% CI: 161.02, 210.66).

Structural and non-structural proteins in SARS-CoV-2: potential aspects to COVID-19 treatment or prevention of progression of related diseases

▪️There are structural and non-structural proteins (NSPs) in the genome of this virus. S, M, H, and E proteins are structural proteins, and NSPs include accessory and replicase proteins.
▪️This review examines the potential role of these SARS-CoV-2 proteins in the initiation of chronic diseases, and it is anticipated that these proteins could serve as components of an effective vaccine or treatment for COVID-19 and related diseases.

The Autoimmune Manifestations in Patients with Genetic Defects in the B Cell Development and Differentiation Stages

Contribution of vitamin D3 and thiols status to the outcome of COVID-19 disease in Italian pediatric and adult patients

▪️To verify the association between VD, GSH and the outcome of COVID-19 disease, the authors conducted a multicenter retrospective study in 35 children and 128 adult patients with COVID-19.
▪️The study demonstrated a hypovitaminosis D in COVID-19 patients, suggesting a possible role of low VD status in increasing the risk of COVID-19 infection and subsequent hospitalizations.
▪️The authors find a thiol disturbance with a GSH depletion associated to the disease severity.
▪️In children, who fortunately survived, both VD and GSH levels at admission were higher than in adults, suggesting that lower VD and thiols levels upon admission may be a modifiable risk factor for adverse outcomes and mortality in hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

The unique pathophysiological features of diabetes mellitus secondary to total pancreatectomy: proposal for a new classification distinct from diabetes of the exocrine pancreas

▪️The authors believe that diabetes mellitus secondary to TP should not be included in the DEP spectrum in light of its peculiar pathophysiological and clinical features.
▪️Therefore, the authors propose a new classification for this entity, that would likely provide more accurate prognosis and treatment strategies.
