I am reaching out to you as a member of the Interlay community. For context: Interlay is a parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem, specializing in DeFi interaction with Bitcoin. It's important to note that Interlay is currently managed exclusively by the community, as the core development team left the project about a year and a half ago to work on another project.
We are currently facing a critical financial situation: we have been billed $6,199 for 6 months of Subscan Explorer service (from October 2024 to March 2025), which amounts to about $1,000 per month. This is a disproportionately high burden on the project's budget, and we are actively looking for more cost-effective alternatives.
Based on our research and recommendations from community members, OnFinality/SubQuery appears to be one of the most promising solutions. We've noticed your pricing structure:
- Small projects: ~$58.40/month
- Medium projects with additional computing resources: ~$144.47/month
- Large projects with high data volume: ~$490.60/month
Even your plan for large projects is twice as economical as our current solution, which is critical for Interlay's financial sustainability.
Given the limited technical resources of our community, a particularly important question for us:
Can you provide a full migration service? That is, can you take on the entire process of migrating from Subscan to your platform with minimal involvement from our side? What access would be required for this, and how much would such a comprehensive service cost?
In addition, we have the following questions:
1. Technical feasibility of migration:
- How difficult is it to transfer all data from Subscan to SubQuery?
- What are the technical requirements on our side and do you need access to our nodes?
- Do you support all standard Polkadot parachain functions, including XCM messages?
- How do you approach runtime maintenance during relay chain updates?
2. Functional capabilities:
- Can we see examples of your interface for other parachains?
- Do you support customizable charts and data visualization?
- What does the API for developers look like and what are its request limits?
- Do you support indexing and searching for all types of parachain data?
3. Cost and payment:
- Are there any one-time costs for migration or setup?
- Is payment in cryptocurrency possible (in our INTR token)?
- Do you offer discounts for prepayment for longer periods?
- How exactly do you calculate data volume? Subscan claims we use 234.92 GB, which seems inflated.
4. Scalability and reliability:
- What is your uptime guarantee (SLA)?
- How do you ensure data backup and recovery?
- What happens when a parachain updates or changes its structure?
- How many nodes do you run to ensure reliability?
5. Additional capabilities:
- Do you have experience with Bitcoin-oriented parachains like Interlay?
- Do you offer any unique features that Subscan doesn't have?
- Can we integrate our branding?
- Are you considering integration with decentralized solutions for computing and data storage?
On the recommendation of a community member, we are also considering Statescan, but your solution seems more comprehensive.
Our main goal is to find a solution that provides the necessary functionality at an economically reasonable price. With the community's limited technical resources, your ability to provide complete migration as a service is particularly important to us.
