Looks like you can only move WSOL so you have to first swap from SOL..then you end up with WSOL on the Solana network and need to swap again…is it possible to transfer just SOL from Osmosis?

the SOL token on osmosis is made up of 2 kinds, from picasso and wormhole, portal will only recognize the .wh wormhole version so thats why you need to swap out of the basket/alloy SOL token on osmo
