Rather than be civil neighbors in the community, the Maglios who own Station Bar at 16th and Mckean thought it was appropriate to smash up their neighbors homes for reporting them for breaking covid guidelines. They have also made several statements against Black Lives Matter and several racist statements online. There is currently a coalition of 30 neighbors working to shut them down. Reflecting on Previous years, Police shot at 34 people this year. The most since 2013 when there were 39. There hasnt been more than 25 since 2014. The shift comes the first year of a new police commissioner, and the burden rests on her shoulders. Council gave in every time to budget increases when we demanded cuts. We demand the abolition of all state sponsored paramilitary operations and systems of incarceration. We demand the release of all prisoners in the Philadelphia Region. We demand the abolition of ICE and release of immigrants with reparations including a pathway to citizenship. We demand others can seek sanctuary. We demand our nutrition and a place to live.
