Christmas is not a Pagan holiday. Christians were using December 25th as a symbolic date to celebrate Jesus Christ's virgin birth long before any record of Pagans using it. The earliest historical records showing that Christians used December 25th to symbolically celebrate Jesus Christ's birth (based on the March 25th symbolic celebration of the virgin Mary's conception by the Holy Spirit) date back to AD 221 in the writings of the early church father Sextus Julius Africanus, meaning that the December 25th Christmas celebrations were already taking place before that. In contrast, the Pagan celebration of Sol Invictus was first started by Roman emperor Lucius Aurelian in AD 274, more than 50 years later. The Pagan celebrations of Saturnalia and Kronia typically occurred between December 17-21, and historical records showed they never ended later than December 23, as they were centered on the Winter Solstice, not on December 25th. The story of Santa Claus originated with a real Christian man and early church father named Saint Nicholas, bishop of Myra in Asia Minor, then were gradually embellished over time in the historical literature to become the jolly figure we know as Santa Claus today. The true Christian holiday of Christmas is absolutely not Pagan in origin, even though some modern Christmas celebrations sometimes incorporate Pagan elements into them.
