Update: i was able to recover the "global" folder and spin up a cluster, that of course instantly goes into recovery mode, but at least it looks for files from the database (so the medatata is there)

File names are not wrong, only the folder names, so it's a matter of searching for where the folders are

pg_{wal,xact,multixact} at least.

Also {tblspc,logical,twophase} if you need some of that features.

Also, didn't the names of subdirs trashed?

A good question for today: my filesystem was absolutely trashed and most folders have now mangled names. I was able to recover all the files in "base" and "global", along with the original names. Is there a way i can take the data from those files or do i also need something else?
