Karma According to Buddha
As I understand it, karma was not actually a teaching of the Buddha, but he used the pre-existent Hinduistic concept of karma as a way of teaching others to break free from the cycle which kept them trapped. So his version of Karma is very different. I believe, by applying karma Buddha has pointed to the actuality that the quality of our mental state is dependent on what we think, say and do and is not about our materialistic lives.

The wisdom of nature is causality. What we refer to as nature is simply the process of causality happening in this moment. Causality is the operating system in which all things happen in the known universe. This nonsentient process is nondiscriminative and so is an expression of equanimity in action. Therefore wisdom and nature are the same process. Human nature is born of causality and begins its life as the wisdom of equanimity. But, causality will also give rise to the confused and conditioned ego-centered mind that discriminates on the basis of pleasure and pain, like and dislike, want and not want. Then from this, the worrying mind begins. The internal journey is to help move the mind back to its origins within the wisdom of nature.

It is consciousness.The topic of consciousness gets caught up in the idea of specialness and magical thinking so it always gets over-complicated. To simplify it, in order to understand it experientially, as opposed to intellectually, all living things are consciousness. They do not have consciousness. They are consciousness happenings. Human consciousness is not separate from human aliveness happening in a causality of this very moment. Human aliveness evolved to be an ability to be aware of being human and make cognitive and perceptive sense of the neuro-electro-chemical activity in the human brain that interacts with sensory data input. Human consciousness is therefore dependent on a living human brain and cannot exist independent of one. Utilising this understanding, it becomes clear that human consciousness combined with causal conditioning, creates the subjective experience of its own reality.
