You have to be willing to learn. Especially if you get into a tech company. You could probably get to a retail company and become senior dev, I don't know.
But if you get to a tech company, there's probably some apps you will be tasked to maintain. They were built by other people, following certain company policies and standards.
If you're a good developer, you will be able to read such code, understand it and maintaining it is not a problem for you. Your ability to deliver in your assigned tasks should enable you rise the ranks. But you have to start from somewhere.

A tech company will always have certain internal standards. Even if it is a copy paste of MVC or modified in a certain way, because devs may come and go but company products remain. These products have to remain operational and optimum regardless of who the current product owner is. If your product is a SAAS, you have customers utilising your apps in production. A new dev cant come and just make push their code to the master branch. Some trust has to be established. Make PRs for all changes you're doing, a senior dev will verify your work. If your work is consistently good, you'll definitely become senior dev. It's not political, it's about quality assurance.

The only way you can be a senior dev straight from Uni/College is in your own company. And even then, it will be a disservice to your company.
Being a senior dev is not just writing code. There's policy formulation, client meetings/requirements gathering etc.
You can't climb a tree from the top

I don't believe in one being a senior dev straight from school. I see it as a lie perpetuated by our industry. Let's be real, there is more to writing code overnight; meetings, sow, brp, lld docs, client trainings etc
