North Korea sent inexperienced and weak soldiers to Russia who are not prepared for the conditions of war on flat terrain – The Wall Street Journal
According to the WSJ, based on video and intelligence data, these are men under 20 who are in the initial stages of military service. They look relatively short and thin, which indicates a problem with malnutrition in North Korea.
These soldiers were trained to kill and destroy infrastructure in the mountainous regions of Korea, which is different from the trench warfare on the flat territory of the Russian-Ukrainian border. Most of the recruits sent most likely never left North Korea, and the DPRK army is equipped with outdated equipment.
South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong Hyun called them “mere cannon fodder.”
The 54th brigade captured a rare Russian T-90S tank—the export model of the T-90—in the Siversk direction. The tank is fully operational.
