Vietnam extradited a detained fighter of the Kastus Kalinouski detachment to Belarus. There he faces the death penalty
The state-run Belarusian TV channel ONT published a video with Vasily Veremeychik, a Belarusian who fought on the side of Ukraine, who was detained in Vietnam on November 13. He was the deputy commander of the Volat battalion of the Kalinouski regiment, was awarded the medal "Ukraine above all" and participated in battles in the Kherson, Nikolaev and Luhansk regions.
The head of the Investigative Department of the KGB of Belarus, Konstantin Bychek, said that Veremeychik was brought to Belarus "as part of interstate cooperation at the request of the KGB" and was wanted in a criminal case. At the same time, there is reason to believe that the KGB provoked the fight for which Veremeychik was allegedly detained in order to have a formal pretext for detaining Veremeychik in Vietnam - this explains his deportation the day after his detention.
