Sounds similar to the root module problem, modules mount just after the boot animation starts so to make it work you have to kill the boot animation and restart it after it mounts

I thought about that too. But apparently Tensor encrypts folders differently at different stages, since system partitions in the data directory should usually be accessible.

Okay. Then error number two is that encryption is interfering. But the first error was a permissions issue. It worked for me with encryption disabled. I'll try to fix this, but in the next build.

In my case, the system immediately mounts /data due to the lack of any encryption, so the difference in bootanim startup time is compensated. In the encrypted version, bootanim has time to check for the file's presence before the device performs the initial decryption.
