Sources in Ukrainian intelligence report that, preliminarily, the first combat encounter between Ukrainian forces and North Korean forces occurred in the Kursk region. This was reported by Suspilne and the Financial Times.
Details have not been provided, but an intelligence source told Suspilne that "for now, it is not about large formations," only the first encounter.

"The West is cutting off the branch it is sitting on." – Lavrov "foreshadowed" the collapse of the dollar due to sanctions against Russia.
"The dollar as the world's reserve currency has signed a verdict," he said during a speech at the Creating the Future science fiction symposium (a proper event to discuss issues like this). According to Lavrov, the dollar's collapse will be brought about by "the policy of sanctions that the West is applying, including against Russia."
"The dollar, which for decades was advertised to us explicitly as the common property of all mankind, has been turned into a weapon of suppression and punishment of geopolitical competitors and simply the disobedient. And the dollar was condemned as the world's reserve currency and means of international settlements," Lavrov said.
Last year, he predicted "irreversible dedollarisation," the year before, he said the dollar was "shrinking," and in 2019, he claimed the U.S. would "soon collapse" because of its sanctions policy.
According to statistics from the SWIFT international payment system, the dollar's share in global trade in 2024 reached a 12-year high: in August, 49.07% of all transactions in the world took place in it.

Iran is named as a "significant" threat.

Ukraine is getting ready to face the hardest winter in our history.
There may be no electricity in Ukraine for 20 hours a day in winter if Russia strikes our critical energy system and the weather is cold.
As of today, blackouts are most probable for 8-14 hours a day.
We are expecting a very harsh winter. I don't know if the people in their apartments will be able to survive the prolonged heating and power cuts in severe cold weather. Russia is doing everything to make Ukrainians flee their country.

This is a video of Maria Zakharova from October 16th, prior to Moldova elections. She ranted how the people of Moldova would become slaves of the West if they vote for joining the EU.
Coming from Russia, that's especially ironic. But many people inside Russia and those abroad but with a Russian mentality really believe this stuff - they have been hearing these messages for too long. This is something the West should be aware of.

The second round of the presidential election in Moldova took place yesterday, and on November 5, the US presidential election will be held. What do these elections have in common?
It's not just the uncertainty and unpredictability of the outcome. It's that the society is divided in half in its attitude towards candidates. There are certain risks associated with this, in particular in how a part of society treats the official voting results. And an even larger problem is the division of values and enormous tension.
Complete unpredictability. We live in very challenging times.
I am deliberately not commenting on the course of the US elections. It is the choice of the US citizens.
But I am interested in your opinions and feelings. Is there any difference in this particular election?

Regardless of who wins the US election, Putin will continue his ‘war of attrition’ in Ukraine – Business Insider
I wanted to share the main points of this article by Tom Porter with you.
Though the stances of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her Republican counterpart Donald Trump on the war in Ukraine are very different, with the former advocating for continued support for Ukraine, while the latter wants to trigger a swift peace deal, that may not matter much to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has more to gain by prolonging the war than ending it.
▪️ Trump’s proposed “peace deal” can only put a temporary stop to Russian military expansion in Ukraine and elsewhere in the region. Any deal at this point in the war will see Russia hold on to the Ukrainian territories it occupied since Feb 2022, and cement Putin’s perception of Washington as weak. It can embolden the Russian President to mount another attack on Ukraine or another country in the future.
▪️ Though Western sanctions have cut off Russia from the regular markets for its oil and gas, the Kremlin managed to open up new exports in major economies, like China and India. In any case, it seems like Russia will suffer economic damage whether it continues the war or not, so there is no tangible incentive for Putin to stop.
▪️ Putin will stop at nothing to chip away at the global power of the US – and the war in Ukraine is one of the main ways for him to achieve this. Other regional conflicts, like wars in the Middle East, or a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan, can further draw the attention away from Russian aggression in Ukraine, and allow Putin to continue the war almost indefinitely.

📹: Russian TV report
Today is Election Day in the US. The outcome of this election will have major repercussions across the world, but, curiously, Russia has had little to say so far.
What is their strategy?
On the surface, in the weeks running up to Nov 5 it may have seemed like the Russian media and Kremlin’s main spokespeople are ignoring the election altogether. Other topics largely dominated the internal information space.
The few official statements from the likes of Medvedev try to paint a position of complete indifference to the results of the election. But if you read between the lines, Russian officials suggest that Trump would be the better candidate for Russia.
I think Russia actually does not have a preference for Harris or Trump. What they really want is destabilization of the United States. That’s the real reason behind their false indecision – to ensure that there is no clear winner in the election, which would sow doubt in the democratic system, cause even greater division in American society, and may even lead to civil unrest. They will do everything they can to throw the US off balance and weaken the country they see as their main “rival” on the world stage.
Russian TV report confirming my suspicions.
"The shifting front line of this war is no longer solely within Ukraine", - NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte
Yesterday, SecGenNATO visited Berlin for the first time since his appointment as NATO Chief. A press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz concluded the visit.
Here are some of the highlights:
◾️Ramping up military spending among NATO members and continued support to Ukraine were the main topics discussed at the press conference.
◾️Rutte called the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia’s war against Ukraine a “significant escalation”, and emphasized the need for cooperation with Indopacific partners to strengthen collective security.
◾️Asked about Ukraine’s path to NATO, Secretary General said that the commitments made in Washington, together with the continued support by individual NATO members, the $40 billion pledge, and bilateral security agreements between Ukraine and NATO states are a “bridge” towards Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance in the longer term. “I am absolutely convinced that one day Ukraine will be a member of NATO,” Rutte said.
European security services say Russia was behind the plot to send explosives on US-bound planes this summer, - WSJ
Russia is stepping up its sabotage campaign against Western countries – and another piece of evidence against them are the explosive devices that ignited at DHL logistics hubs in the UK and Germany in July. The official investigations traced back the attacks, concluding they were likely test runs for a larger plot to send explosives to the US and Canada.
What we know so far:
▪️Electric massagers implanted with a magnesium-based flammable substance were shipped via DHL to the UK from Lithuania. Lithuanian police apprehended a suspect, Alexander Suranovas, who is believed to be a proxy used by Russian spy services.
▪️The Polish authorities have also arrested 4 people, charging them with sabotage and participation in foreign terrorist operations. They are looking for at least 2 more suspects.
▪️The packages ignited on the ground by “a lucky coincidence,” according to German internal security chief Thomas Haldenwang. After conducting tests, German police concluded that once ignited, the devices would be very challenging to extinguish using standard firefighting systems on most planes, likely forcing an emergency landing. A plane over the Atlantic, en route to North America, could face catastrophic consequences, potentially going down in flames and resulting in mass casualties.
▪️Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov brushed off the accusations, calling them “traditional unsubstantiated insinuations from the media.”
These incidents add to the growing number of Russian operations across Europe, including arson in the U.K. and the Czech Republic, attacks on pipelines and data cables in the Baltic and tampering with water supplies in Sweden and Finland.

General of the Russian Guards Mirza Mirzaev has been arrested.
I'm certain that the case against him was personally approved by Putin and directed against Zolotov (head of Russian national guard) and Kadyrov.
There will probably be further "cleanses", similar to ones in the Russian defense ministry after Shoigu was fired.
It looks like Zolotov and Kadyrov are in a state of uncertainty. The arrests won't directly concern them. They are needed to keep them and "Kremlin elites" in the state of fear.
After "elections," Putin changed the rules of the game and canceled all previous arrangements with the elites. Now, he makes a point that no one is beyond punishment. Actually, fear of the elites is the basic task of Putin's internal policy today.
Russians play “human safari” in Kherson by hunting civilians with drones – Washington Post
There are increasing reports about deliberate Russian attacks on civilians by small drones carrying grenades and small mines, or simply crashing into their targets. Between July and October, 133 people were killed and over 1300 injured this way.
▪️Regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin sees this as a consistent strategy of the Russian forces, and called it “targeted terrorism”. Russian drones often attack ambulances, city buses and civilian cars. They are also covering the city and its surroundings in petal mines, which explode when touched. They’re banned under international agreements, but Russia is not a signatory to them.
▪️Local residents, tormented by constant attacks, are forced to leave their homes. One woman decided to run away after she saw a drone hovering over a playground, where her 8-year-old son was playing.
▪️More often, the story does not have a happy ending for Kherson residents. Oleksandra, another local who has evacuated from the region previously, was trying to get her father to move west, but before her plans were realized, her dad died in an explosion while on his way to get water.
The Russian army has no limits when it comes to terrorizing Ukrainian citizens.

"We are a country that has been defeated in a great and long confrontation - Cold War. And we need to stop lying to ourselves and constantly look for excuses. We lost a third of our country. It is a defeat. But we will take back, if not everything we lost, then what is of value to us."
This is very telling about the Russian way of thinking.
