"The Pentagon is sending to Ukraine more than 500 interceptors for the Patriot missile defense system and the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System, or NASAMS.

Those shipments should meet Ukraine’s air defense needs for the rest of this year, said one U.S. official."

This is very important for the protection of Ukrainian civilians. Thank you!

Russia uses new Grom-E1 powered glide bomb that flies up to 120 km - The Telegraph

The 600-kilogram rocket-boosted bomb provides the Su-30 and Su-34 fighter-bombers with the ability to strike while remaining out of range of Ukrainian air defense systems such as Patriot. The newspaper attributes the increasing use of these bombs to the recent delivery of F-16s to Ukraine.

The targets, so far, are civilians. Grom-E1s struck a school and an apartment building in Myrnohrad and Kherson, and on October 29, a bombing raid involving KABs and at least one Grom-E1 blew up a medical facility and other buildings in Kharkiv.

These bombs are flying in the Ukrainian skies - in Europe (and Russia is trying to increase their range). Protecting Ukraine and guaranteeing Ukraine's security means security for all European countries.

Russian 'war correspondent' filmed a Russian T-90M Proryv ("Breakthrough") tank torn to pieces. It had ordinary bricks instead of reactive armor.

The explosion, caused by mine, tore off the tank's turret, and its gun stuck into the ground.

At first, the 'war correspondent' can't figure out what tank it is, mistakes it for a Leopard, and happily takes selfies near it. And only then someone says that the tank is, in fact, Russian.

According to The Guardian, Kyiv and the British government are continuing negotiations on the supply of long-range Storm Shadow missiles.

The newspaper's sources suggest that the new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is unwilling to make strategic decisions on the supply of additional long-range Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine without US approval, so the negotiations are currently making no progress.

The UK is the third largest donor of military aid to Ukraine and has always been our ally. We are grateful to the UK and its people for their continued support and assistance.

These are very difficult times, but I am confident we can find the right solutions.

Putin's speech in Valdai lasted about four hours.

Putin repeated many of his previous statements, summarizing his current vision of the world and Russia's place in it. The most important point is that Russia is not fighting a regional conflict but is fighting for a new world order, and the West (in particular, Europe) is losing this battle.

Putin used classic propaganda techniques. All the accusations directed at Russia are mirrored in minute detail at the West. For example, Putin spoke at length about military blocs that are created to dominate and serve the interests of one country, clearly hinting at NATO. But he was silent about the CSTO. And the same with literally everything.

He repeated the statement that NATO provoked Russia, the Kremlin was forced to defend itself, etc., quite a few times. All of this is, of course, a lie.

Putin said that Russia's war is not about Ukraine's borders at all. It's about global agreements and a long-term vision of the world order as a solid foundation for a lasting peace, where Russia will take its desired place. He is not interested in a short-term truce.

That is, Putin is talking about revising the results of the Cold War and switching from the Yalta-Potsdam system.

When Putin claims that he is not interested in a ceasefire, he is, in fact, interested in it, but as a tactical step. The costs of war are growing for him, and it is not possible to achieve what his goals militarily.

The freeze will allow Putin to go the other way - to trigger the collapse of Ukraine due to internal destabilization. When Putin says that a temporary pause is impossible because Ukraine will get ammunition supplies and everything will start all over again, he's actually talking about himself. He is counting on "ammunition supply" from allies in "the axis of evil" while the West hesitates and lingers.

Ukraine has insisted and continues insisting on real security guarantees from our partners. However, the partners do not seem to be ready for a specific and actionable response.

Putin openly mocks the West for its decision in 2008: they "opened the door" to NATO for Ukraine and Georgia, but in name only. Sixteen years have passed. We all saw what happened in Georgia. Ukraine, unfortunately, might be next.

‼️ What can break the Russian scenario?
1) Clear guarantees from Ukraine's partners - ideally, similar to what Sweden and Finland received during the NATO accession process. The first step would be to get them for Ukraine-controlled territory.
2) Internal stability for Ukraine, strong management.

After Putin's speech yesterday, many people began to talk about problems with his eyesight or speech. At the Valdai Discussion Club session, during his hour-long speech, he misspoke, stammered, and mispronounced words more than forty times while reading from a piece of paper.

But this does not prevent him from terrorizing our country and killing people.

‼️ Putin's old age is another factor that affects the negotiations.

Putin wants to go down in history as the "gatherer of the Russian lands," as he has repeatedly stated. And so, he may not be interested in peace or in freezing the war and waiting a few years. He is well aware that he personally does not have much time left.

"Trump’s goal should be security guarantees that allow postwar Ukraine to succeed as a member of the European Union." - David Ignatius for the Washington Post.

Mr. Ignatius writes that if Donald Trump wants to be seen within and outside of the US as a strong leader, then security guarantees for Ukraine are what will help him establish himself as one.

I do believe that any White House administration understands that Ukraine's defeat will be seen by Putin as the West's and US defeat, and that is unacceptable.

Their blaming the West has increased greatly recently. I wonder if it's a sign of something.

Donald Trump wants to cut global oil prices in half. If it happens, this could seriously hurt Russia.

One of Trump’s key elections promises was to increase domestic oil production in the US and thus reduce oil prices to about $40 a barrel. According to his senior campaign aide Jason Miller, this would be one of the incoming President’s first priorities once in office. Russia, which is still dependent on its oil and gas exports to fill its massive military budget, could be hit hard by such a drop in prices.

Already after the news of Donald Trump’s victory broke, oil prices and futures began to trend lower on the market, Reuters reported. This signifies that investors take Trump’s intentions seriously.

Experts disagree on whether Trump will be able to fulfill his promise to halve the prices. Definitely, in the long-term, global events and actions of other oil suppliers, like OPEC countries, could offset any drops orchestrated by the US. However, most admit that in the short- to mid-term, restoring domestic production and repealing Biden’s environmental regulations could increase the supply of oil in the global market and thus drive the prices down – Energy Intelligence projects that by May 2025, the price could reach $50 a barrel.

This would hurt major oil exporters – Russia and Iran among them – as they won’t be able to sell their oil at relatively higher prices, as they did before. If you needed another explanation for the lukewarm reception of Trump’s victory in the Kremlin, this is a fairly good one – Russian elites are rightfully worried about what Trump’s presidency will do to their economy, already fragile because of the sanctions.

"The concept of 'peace through strength' has proven itself and is needed now" - Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the summit of the European Political Community.

Several points from his speech:

◾️ According to the President, making concessions to Russia is "unacceptable for Ukraine and suicidal for all Europe."

◾️ There should be no illusion that showing weakness or trading any European position or the status of any European country can buy just peace. Peace is a reward only for the strong. Therefore, there is no alternative to a strong Europe.

◾️Russia started this war because they wanted "global power, starting with control over Ukraine and then over all of Europe."

◾️ The bill for this war should be sent to the Russians, not Ukraine, so that Russia can no longer make false claims to everyone around it, from the Baltic states to the Balkans. The President stated that any country, any leader who respects international law and sits at this table should realize that "predators always demand more."

◾️"I thank every leader who supports Ukraine's right to use funds from Russian assets to protect against Russian aggression. The Russian state values neither people nor morality – they value only money. It is also a lesson for them when Russian assets work for Ukraine. This is Ukrainian money – Russia destroyed hundreds of our towns and villages. Millions of our people have lost their homes. This requires funds. Now, instead of looking for reasons to delay, we must find a mechanism to direct these funds to Ukraine so they can work as quickly as possible."

◾️"Russia still profits from selling oil enough to continue its war, evades sanctions, and buys drone and missile components worldwide. Russia still spreads instability in the Sahel, North Africa, the Middle East, and countries like Yemen. Why does Putin do this?"

◾️"We need leverage over him. Europe needs it. Together, we can stop Russia's war and respond to other challenges. This is possible for Europe – not for any one leader alone. Stand together in defending our common interests. And let us work together with our allies for our shared interests," the President of Ukraine concluded.
