Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, shared frank thoughts in an interview with European Pravda newspaper on the future of Europe, support for Ukraine, and global changes affecting international relations.
◾️He emphasized that Europe should take more responsibility for its own security and join forces to maintain influence.
Mr. Borrell assured that the EU will continue to support Ukraine within the framework of the ten-year security agreement signed in June 2024. Borrell emphasized that this assistance is not an act of charity but an important contribution to the security of the EU itself.
◾️ Asked about unity in the EU, Borrell acknowledged that Hungary sometimes makes disagreements over arms supplies to Ukraine and calls for negotiations with Russia. But despite this, Budapest has supported all previous EU decisions on sanctions and general financial assistance to Ukraine. He noted that the volume of this support reached €122bn.
◾️ Borrell admitted that the EU could have acted faster in providing military aid to Ukraine. Each new stage of support - from Patriot systems to Leopard tanks and fighter jets - requires long negotiations and overcoming disagreements among member states. "We started with helmets, and now we are supplying F-16s," the diplomat noted.
He also confirmed that the EU's commitment to deliver one million artillery shells a year has almost been fulfilled: more than 980,000 shells have been supplied so far.
◾️ The head of European diplomacy has noted Ukraine's significant progress on the path to EU membership. According to him, the latest report of the European Commission showed that Kyiv had surpassed some other candidate countries in meeting the requirements. Borrell emphasized that the reforms Ukraine was implementing were in line with EU standards and demonstrated the country's sincere desire to become part of the EU.
◾️ Asked about security guarantees for EU member states, Borrell explained that although the EU is not a military alliance, it does have mechanisms for assistance and support. In particular, the Treaty on European Union obliges member states to show solidarity in the event of aggression against one of them. In this respect, Borrell said, the EU is ready to support Ukraine even more actively if it becomes a member of the Union.

The Central Bank of Russia does not rule out raising the key rate in December at the final meeting of the board of directors in order to bring inflation back to the 4% target, Central Bank deputy chairman Alexei Zabotkin said.
He hinted that even that might not help.
Russian propagandists:
"Trump was the first to show us and the world how to deal with diplomatic property by seizing our diplomatic mission in San Francisco. He imposed what Lindsey Graham called 'sanctions from hell'."
They keep repeating "Trump is not our friend".
‼️Russians' bank deposits may be frozen to avoid "crazy inflation" - Alexey Zubets, director of the Institute of Socio-Economic Research.
Back in 2014, Russian retirement accounts were frozen already when Russia annexed Crimea.
So Russian people know full well this is a possibility and might happen.
Russian economy is not well, Putin knows it and is trying to hide it.
Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia: at the time of the direct hit on the residential building, Mykola's entire family was at home. His 4-year old grandson, wife and daughter are now in the hospital. The boy is having a surgery.
The family's apartment was badly damaged. The windows were broken in the residential building, the roof was torn off.
In total, 22 people were injured in Russian attack. A 71-year-old man was killed.

Russian propagandists:
"If Trump stops supporting the Kyiv regime, Putin will win and take over all of Ukraine, and then an enthusiastic and very angry Russia will appear at the EU border, with Ukraine's army in addition to its own. Sounds like a very good plan."
I am certain that the US leaders (both current and future) understand that very well and are fully aware of the risks.
❗️Putin's spokesperson Peskov said that there was no phone call between Donald Trump and Putin.
"There was no conversation. This is false information. Pure fiction."
⚡️Ukrainian Defense Intelligence reports that a Mi-24 Russian attack helicopter was burned down in Moscow region at Klin-5 airfield on the night of November 10.
The destroyed Russian helicopter belonged to the 92nd squadron of the 344th center of combat application and retraining of the air force of the army aviation of the Russian Federation.
AFU Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi spoke with U.S. European Command chief General Christopher Cavoli yesterday and gave an update from the frontlines:
"The situation remains complicated and has a tendency to exacerbate.
The enemy, leveraging its superior numbers, continues offensive actions and concentrates its main efforts on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
We have numerous reports of North Korean servicemen being prepared to participate in combat on the side of Russian forces."
‼️It seems the Russian economy is headed towards a collapse in 2025. And Putin knows this.
While the Kremlin likes to pretend that their bloody war economy is doing better than ever, this is far from the truth.
In attempts to stop runaway inflation due to increased defense spending, the Russian Central Bank has increased the interest rate to record high 21% and will “very likely” raise it again in December. It is unclear whether they will be able to stop inflation this way, but this move is likely to bear devastating consequences for Russian businesses, already hurt by Western sanctions.
Many are already reporting a drastic increase in late payments from counterparties – a worrying sign for the economy. Financial experts are expecting a “wave” of bankrupcies to sweep the Russian market over the next several months, and many leading businesses have grim prognoses for 2025.
Russia’s biggest steel manufacturer, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, have enough reserves only for another 6 months and have a “very negative” outlook for 2025.
Samolet group, a major real estate developer is also on the brink of collapse – their sales are down 37%, and one of the biggest shareholders is trying to sell his stake in the company. As a systemic company for the Russian economy, the default of Samolet would likely require a government bailout.
Russia’s Union of Shopping Centers has appealed to the government for support. They are requesting subsidized interest rates of 7-10 percent, debt restructuring, and payment deferrals of 5-10 years. Without these measures, 200 shopping centers risk bankruptcy.
Among other companies that foresee a default in their future are Krial Energo Stroy plant and strategic enterprise “Rosgeologia”, while national restaurant chain “Kuzina” has technically defaulted already.
Even the defense industry is not safe from the effects of the interest rate hike. Sergey Chemezov, the head of the state-owned defense conglomerate Rostec warned, “If we keep operating like this, most of our businesses will go bankrupt. Even arms sales don’t generate enough profit [to service debt at rates above 20 percent].”
If these predictions come to be over the next two quarters, Russia’s economy is in for a major “shakeup” – economic growth will slow and inflation rates will keep growing. Very clear sign that the economy is doing well, right?
"All our troubles are because of ourselves." – Putin in 1999.
It turns out that it's not the West's fault, but "our own negligence and weakness".
I know we are all worried and, to be honest, exhausted after the US elections. But now it is time to pick ourselves up and carry on. We have to play the cards we are dealt.
In difficult times like these, I like to turn to Winston Churchill's thoughts – keeps me calm and motivated. As he once (reportedly) said, never let a good crisis go to waste! I am trying to follow this brilliant piece of advice – doing what I can – and hoping for the best. I hope this helps you too.
An interesting analysis on how Donald Trump’s plans to bring peace to Ukraine may work out by Danish military expert Anders Nielsen. He argues that there are many possible scenarios on the table for Trump once he takes office, but if his approach is to cut all support to Ukraine and let Russia win, he will be shooting the United States in the foot.
A move like this would break NATO apart, and force Europeans to abandon their reliance on the US as their #1 arms supplier. Europe is the market for over half of US arms exports. Losing this would hit US weapon producers very hard - this would not look great for US economy or security, Anders Puck believes.
Russian teachers have made tinfoil hats to "symbolize their readiness to protect our homeland from external threats."
Jokes aside, this is a good illustration how brainwashed the Russian population is. They genuinely believe that the West is a threat and wants to capture them.
Happy Independence Day, Poland!
Poland is our neighbor and our good friend who helps us in our fight.
Thankful to the people of Poland for your support and help. Wishing you prosperity and peace. Greetings to my Polish followers and friends! 🇵🇱🇺🇦
Russian propagandist Keosayan:
"Let the West rejoice that, for now, the boss is launching the Chukotka icebreaker, not Alaska. By the way, if you listen closely, you can clearly hear Western sanctions crumbling under Russian nuclear-powered icebreakers."
Russians damaged the Kurakhove Reservoir - Donetsk Regional Military Administration
As of 4 pm Kyiv time, the water level in the river within the Velyka Novosilka community had risen by 1.2 meters. The impact poses a potential threat to residents of settlements on the Vovcha River - both in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk region, the administration's head, Vadym Filakshyn, said.
It is now impossible to inspect the dam of the Kurakhove Reservoir due to shelling.
Ukraine has signed a number of agreements with Denmark for the purchase of weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers, totaling approximately €535 million ($570 million).
Thank you, Denmark! 🇩🇰 🇺🇦
Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the funding sources include the governments of Denmark and Sweden and interest from frozen Russian assets. Thanks to the "Danish model," Ukraine has already received €50 million ($53 million).
Production of Ukrainian weapons is faster and cheaper than Western weapons. Domestic weapons can be more innovative. They are immediately tested in real conditions. Production cycles are much shorter.
It is very important that Ukraine produces our own weapons and has the necessary funding to do so.
Iryna's daughter-in-law and three grandchildren are trapped under the rubble after the Russian strike on Kryvyi Rih today. Rescuers are looking for them.

Russia is making up new enemies every day. First, it was "Ukrainian nazis", then - phantom "NATO troops", but this time they've really outdone themselves.
Medvedev is ready to fight "lizard people" next.
In Russia, there's often talk of faith and devotion. Here’s a recent news story:
In a Moscow church, parishioner Alexei Sebastyanenko was detained following a report by the church's Archpriest Andrei Tkachev. Previously, Sebastyanenko had expressed anti-war views in personal conversations with Tkachev, quoting Bible verses such as "Thou shalt not kill" and "Do not covet thy neighbor's house."
Based on this, he was detained and is currently held at the police department in Moscow’s Basmanny district.
This is the country that claims to protect "traditional Orthodox values". This protection only extends as long as it suits them.
According to Reuters, Donald Trump’s team said Bryan Lanza "was a contractor for the campaign. He does not work for President Trump and does not speak for him."
They clarified that Bryan Lanza was not speaking on behalf of the president-elect.

Stopping aid to Ukraine will mean that the US (and the president-elect Trump) have given up, surrendered to Putin and showed their weakness.
This is exactly how Putin will see it. Same with several world leaders who are now watching the situation with great attention - starting with China.
So a US leader who wishes to lead a strong country, will need to act from a position of strategic power and leadership. A strong Ukraine is an essential component of that.
Bryan Lanza, a Republican party strategist, told the BBC in an interview that the Trump administration will ask Volodymyr Zelensky for his version of a "realistic vision for peace".
"And if President Zelensky comes to the table and says, well we can only have peace if we have Crimea, he shows to us that he's not serious," Bryan Lanza said. "Crimea is gone."
Ukraine wants peace more than anyone. But peace does not mean just another frozen conflict. Peace must be sustainable.
To ensure this, Ukraine needs real workable security guarantees that will deter Russia.
Statements like “Crimea is gone” are a direct invitation for Putin not to make peace, but to continue his invasion and terror of Ukraine, until “Ukraine is gone” instead.
We cannot range or categorize Ukrainian territories. This paves the way for a great redrawing of the geopolitical map post-Ukraine – and not just in Europe. No one knows where that will stop and how much blood will be shed in the process.
The USA has never recognized Crimea as Russian and sanctioned the Russian authorities for the occupation of the peninsula. It’s very important that this stance continues to be voiced and heard. The Crimea issue is not a short-term one. Obviously, right now no one is discussing a swift liberation of Russian-occupied Crimea. We are talking about stopping combat, about negotiations and the search for leverage that would allow us to stop Putin.
And that is the main question. It is not "how to influence Ukraine". The main question is how to stop Russia and Putin.
The war hasn't stopped while new decisions are awaited.
Every day, there are heavy battles on the Ukrainian frontlines and strikes on our civilians.
Russia hasn't stopped to wait for negotiations, it has increased its pressure to capture as much Ukrainian territory and inflict as much damage as it can.
Russia's allies haven't stopped and haven't frozen their aid. They send ammunition and now their soldiers.
Ukraine has become the arena of a geopolitical battle. We are paying the largest price possible - the lives of our people and destruction of our country.
A strong Ukraine defending the European continent from the threat of war is a common interest if we want peace in Europe and wish to stop Russia.
