Charity Protects: "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." (Al-Tirmidhi)

Enduring Deeds: "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah, beneficial knowledge, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him." (Muslim)

Wealth Increase: "Charity does not in any way decrease wealth." (Muslim)

Here are some hadiths that show the reasons why we should give Sadaqah. In the end, giving to the less fortunate does not hurt us.

This is an example of a child we recently helped. His life consists of going from dumpster to dumpster just to find plastic and different metals to sell. He works more than 14 hours a day and has nothing to show for it.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in al-Tis’eeniyyah (1/125):

“The sons of Adam cannot live in this world unless they help one another in word and deed.”

This is a powerful reminder of how the ummah should support one another, especially in these difficult times of fitnah.

A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim—he stands by him in times of need. We must strive to give sadaqah to our brothers and sisters who are suffering across the world.

A day may come when you find yourself in need—and the sadaqah you gave will return to aid you. If your intentions are sincere, Allah will not forsake you.

⚡️ Board member of the #Gaza Strip Bakery Society, Kamal Agour, to the "Sad Net": - The flour crisis in #Gaza reached unprecedented levels, with most bakeries completely stopped operating due to the lack of basic materials such as flour, gas, yeast, and even firewood, amid a continuous siege for 18 months and the complete absence of alternative energy. - The crisis effectively exploded after March 2, when the occupation violated the ceasefire agreement and closed all crossings abruptly, leading to the complete suspension of the major bakeries, taking into account April 1, and what we have no longer is a stock, and we have limited quantities that are not sufficient to cover the minimum needs of the population. - There are 28 major machine bakeries in the #Gaza Strip, including 10 in the north and 18 in the south, all of which are now completely suspended, unable to produce or store, and there is no emergency plan that can be applied in light of the complete loss of control over the situation.

A’isha (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"On the day of sacrifice, no deed is more beloved to Allah than the shedding of blood. The sacrifice will come on the Day of Resurrection with its horns, its wool, and its hooves. The blood reaches Allah before it touches the ground, so rejoice in it."

Protection from Envy

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“A protection from envy is giving charity and goodness as much as you are able. This has an amazing effect on repelling calamities, the evil eye, and the evil of envy. If there were nothing other than the experiences of the nations of old to prove this, it would be sufficient.

The evil eye and envy are not close to harming the one who gives charity and does good towards the creation; and if it befalls him, it is easy, and his ending is praiseworthy. This is because his gratitude is a protection for his blessings.

The envier's heart will not cool until the envied loses their blessing, and the slave does not protect his blessing with anything better than gratitude. In contrast, nothing exposes the blessing to becoming lost like ingratitude.”

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“To Allāh belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, yet He asks a loan from you (i.e. giving charity) but you are stingy. He created the seven seas but He loved a tear from you (out of fear of Him) but your eyes were tearless.”

[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 106]

"Ramadan might be over, but your generosity doesn’t have to be. Allah still offers you a chance—feed the hungry, shape the future, invest in the hereafter. Will you take it?" Remember, A loan to Allah never goes unpaid.

Backbiting [Ghībah] The Worst Type of Generosity

Imām Ibn Taymīyyah said: "The worst type of generosity is being generous in gifting your good deeds to others due to backbiting, tale-carrying, lying, swearing and insulting [the believers]." See Majmū Fatāwa [8/303]

“Do not sit among those who tear into the flesh of the absent for Allāh likens backbiting to eating the dead meat of your brother.

Beware, for once they have feasted on another’s name, your name will be the next morsel in their mouth.

At the first whisper of backbiting, rise and leave, shield your deeds by refusing to feed on slander.”

If You Won’t Rise, Allāh Will Replace You

وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوۡاْ يَسۡتَبۡدِلۡ قَوۡمًا غَيۡرَكُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوٓاْ أَمۡثَٰلَكُم

“If you turn away, He will replace you with another people, then they will not be like you.” (Qur’ān 47:38)

"If we turn away and do nothing for our Ummah, know that Allāh does not need us.

With the next blowing of the wind, He can replace us with a people who will rise, who will give, who will speak, and who will not fear the blame of the blamers.

Don’t think for a second that you are irreplaceable.

The honour is in serving this Dīn, don’t let it pass you by.

The virtue of sending ṣalāh (supplications for peace) upon the Prophet ﷺ on Friday begins from sunset on the night of Jumuʿah (Thursday night) and finishes at sunset on the night of Saturday (Friday night). Moreover, sending ṣalāh upon him during the day of Friday is better than during its night (Thursday night).

تفضيل الصلاة على النبي ﷺ في الجمعة يبدأ من غروب الشمس ليلة الجمعة وينتهي بغروبها ليلة السبت، والصلاة عليه ﷺ في نهار الجمعة أفضل من ليلها



إنَّ اللهَ وملائكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ على النَّبي يا أَيُّها الذِّين آمَنوا صَلُّوا عَلَيهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيما ً

Allah the Almighty will do this for you:

Anas bin Maalik (radhi Allaahu anhu) said:  Verily the Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

Whoever sends Salah upon me once Allah will send ten upon him and remove ten of his sins and raise his rank by ten levels.

It is reported that Hammâd b. Abî Sulaymân was a wealthy man, he used to provide iftâr (meal to end the fast) for five hundred people in Ramadân, and would give each of them one hundred dirham after ‘Eid.

It is also reported that he used to provide iftâr for fifty poor people a day in Ramadân, and on the eve of ‘Eid he would give each of them clothes to wear.

The Virtue Of Giving Iftar:

It was narrated that Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Whoever gives iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest."

[Tirmidhi, 807; Ibn Maajah, 1746. Classed as saheeh by Ibn Hibaan, 8/216 and by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami, 6415]

Shaykh al-Islam [Ibn Taymiyah] said:

“What is meant by giving him iftaar is giving him enough to satisfy him.”

Al-Ikhtiyaaraat, p. 194

The righteous salaf were keen to provide food for others and they thought that this was one of the best of righteous deeds.

One of the salaf said:

“For me to invite ten of my companions and feed them food that they like is dearer to me than freeing ten of the sons of Ismaa’eel from slavery.”

Many of the salaf used to give up their iftaar for others, such as ‘Abd-Allah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), Dawood al-Taa’i, Maalik ibn Dinar and Ahmad ibn Hanbal. Ibn ‘Umar used only to break his fast with orphans and the poor and needy.

There were among the salaf those who used to offer food to their brothers whilst fasting, and they would sit and serve them, such as al-Hasan and Ibn al-Mubaarak.

Abu al-Siwaar al-‘Adawi said:

“Men from the tribe of Banu ‘Adiyy used to pray in this mosque and not one of them would break his fast on his own; if they found someone to join them they would eat with him, otherwise they would take their food out to the mosque and eat with the people, and the people would eat with them.”

From the ‘ibaadah of providing food for people stem many other acts of worship such as creating love and friendship towards those who are given the food, which is a means of entering Paradise, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“You will not enter Paradise until you truly believe, and you will not truly believe until you love one another.”

[Muslim, 54]

It also fosters the practice of sitting with righteous people and seeking reward by helping them to do acts of worship for which they gain strength by eating your food.

Help them escape humiliation and step into lives of honor.
