Nikki Haley is running into a wall of hard feelings among conservatives in her home state, who feel that she ditched them for national politics years ago.
Since leaving the governor’s office, Haley has largely ignored the state’s grassroots activists, according to interviews with more than a dozen GOP operatives across South Carolina.
“We didn’t abandon her,” said Allen Olson, formerly the head of the Columbia Tea Party, who was supportive of Haley as she entered the governor’s office. “She abandoned us.”
“Her campaign has totally overlooked the people who helped put her in the governor’s mansion,” said Nate Leupp, the former chair of the Greenville GOP.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the results of a human trafficking operation, targeting sexual predators using the Internet to seek out potential victims.
Over the course of the four day operation, 12 suspects were arrested in Visalia. Charges include contacting a minor for sexual purposes and meeting with a minor for sexual purposes.
"We organize operations like this to diminish the presence of online child predators and combat the exploitation of children in our communities,” said Visalia Police Captain Andy Swarthout.
“The exploitation of children is not something my office will tolerate,” said A.G. Bonta.

🚨Man Wanted For Murdering Girlfriend In Front Of Her Son Captured in Philadelphia: US Marshals
A mother was shot to death inside her Philly home two days before Christmas last year, and now her suspected murderer is in custody months later.
Abiud Torres, 20, was captured by U.S. Marshals at 6:45 a.m. Thursday morning.
Officials say he killed his 35-year-old girlfriend in front of her 11-year-old son after a verbal dispute on December 23, 2023.
She was shot in the face and chest, and pronounced dead at the scene. A homicide warrant was issued after police say the suspect fled the scene.

A private U.S. lunar lander touched down on the moon Thursday, but contact with the craft was weak, company officials said.
There were no immediate updates on the lander’s condition from the company, Intuitive Machines.
Tension mounted in the company’s command center in Houston, as controllers awaited a signal from the spacecraft some 250,000 miles (400,000 kilometers) away, which arrived about 10 minutes later.
“We’re evaluating how we can refine that signal,” said mission director Tim Crain. “But we can confirm, without a doubt, that our equipment is on the surface of the moon.”

A federal judge affirmed a $5 million arbitration award against MyPillow chief executive Mike Lindell in favor of a software engineer who challenged data that Lindell said proves China interfered in the 2020 U.S. presidential election and tipped the outcome to Joe Biden.
Lindell said he plans to appeal. Asked if he can afford to pay, he pointed out that the breach-of-contract lawsuit was against one of his companies, Lindell Management LLC, and not against him personally.

A Virginia man will spend the next 11-23 months in prison after he pled guilty to charges that he attempted to have sex with a 13-year-old girl in Pennsylvania.
Tanner Iskra, 38, responded to an online ad and communicated with an undercover agent with the Lancaster County Human Trafficking Task Force.
The agent was posing as a family member of a 13-year-old girl, who Iskra agreed to pay $200 to have sex with the minor for an hour. Officials said he drove to Lancaster County from Stafford, Virginia to do that.
After imprisonment, Iskra will spend 8 years on probation and he must register as a sex offender with Pennsylvania State Police for the rest of his life.

Wayne cops pulled over the car after they spotted it tailgating another vehicle - and an occupant was also seen not wearing a seat belt, cops said.
None of the three inside were able to provide a driver’s license or spoke English and the license plate was found to belong to another vehicle, police said.

🚨Chinese Nationals Convicted For Trying To Dupe Apple Out of $3 Million In Fake iPhone Scheme
A Washington DC, federal jury convicted two Chinese men for being part of a scheme in which they submitted over 5,000 fake iPhones to Apple for repair, intending to dupe the tech giant out of over $3 million.
Hoatian Sun, 33, of Baltimore, and Pengfei Xue of Germantown, MD, were convicted of mail fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
Sun and Xue would receive shipments of fake iPhones from Hong Kong to their UPS mailboxes. They would then submit the phones that had spoofed serial numbers and IMEI numbers to Apple Authorized Service Providers and Apple retail stores.
Sentencing is set for June 21. Both men face up to 20 years in prison.
