🚨CBP Officers in Chicago Seize Over 100 Weapon-Modifying Devices Since Start of 2024
Over 100 weapon-modifying devices, including suppressors, auto sears, and pistol automatic fire conversion switches, have been seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Chicago since the year began.
According to CBP, 43 shipments, that were found to be carrying parts used to modify weapons, were seized by officers at the International Mail Facility in Chicago in the first 43 days of 2024.
The seizures included nine shipments concealing 55 pistol automatic fire conversion switches, one seizure containing five AR-15 auto sears, and 33 seizures of shipments containing 57 suppressors.
According to officials, most of the seizures came from China and were headed to various locations around the U.S.

🚨New York City Mayor Questioned Over Luxury Apartments For Illegals
Mayor Eric Adams was questioned and criticized on Sunday about a plan to house illegal immigrants in apartments with a swimming pool and marble bathrooms.
The plan would see immigrants housed in what Spectrum News described as an “unused luxury apartment building” which upset some attendees of a community forum in Harlem.
Two people had to be escorted out of the meeting as tensions ran high, and some community members brought signs with slogans such as, “Millions on migrants. What about youth programs?”
The mayor proposed a two-hour workshop on housing to be held to discuss the topic further.

🚨#Texas -Human Smuggling Operation Busted, 3 Arrested, 8 Rescued From Stash House
Bexar County authorities busted a human smuggling operation Thursday evening, finding 8 victims, including a 2-year-old boy.
Three people were arrested at the scene, which authorities were led to after a tip made to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Salazar said a 59-year-old man wanted in Mexico for alleged murder and kidnapping, Francisco Valdez Carmona, was among those found at the home.
The smuggling victims each paid anywhere from $2,000 to $8,500 to be brought into the U.S., according to Salazar. They were prepared to be taken to either Houston or Atlanta.
The baby boy was returned to his mother, whom authorities determined lived in the U.S.

🚨Operation Janus: 47 Arrested, 13 Children Rescued In Online Child Exploitation Sting
The North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested 47 people during an operation "aimed at the rescue of children across North Texas who are victims of online sexual exploitation."
The 2nd annual Operation Janus started on January 15. The three-week operation brought together computer crimes investigators to target child predators.
Authorities said the operation resulted in the rescue of 13 children from sexual abuse, and more than 90 criminal charges filed against 47 suspects.

A Utah man imprisoned for nearly two years in Venezuela has sued President Nicolás Maduro, accusing the leftist leader of heading a “criminal enterprise” that kidnaps, tortures and unjustly imprisons American citizens.
The complaint filed Thursday in Miami federal court by Joshua Holt is the latest in a string of lawsuits by Americans targeting Maduro’s government over its alleged ties to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, which the U.S. has designated a terrorist group.

🚨U.S. Offers $15M Bounty To Hunt Down Ransomware Leaders
The U.S. State Department has announced monetary rewards of up to $15 million for information that could lead to the identification of key leaders within the LockBit ransomware group and the arrest of any individual participating in the operation.
"Since January 2020, LockBit actors have executed over 2,000 attacks against victims in the United States, and around the world, causing costly disruptions to operations and the destruction or exfiltration of sensitive information," the State Department said.

🚨West Virginia Authorities Bust Crime Ring Delivering Drugs By Drone Into Federal Prison
Eleven suspects, including a juvenile, have been arrested for allegedly using drones to deliver illegal drugs into a federal prison in West Virginia.
The investigation began last November. Deputies arrested suspects from mid-December through early February. The charges included introduction or attempts to introduce contraband into a correctional facility, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, unlawfully operating a drone, terroristic acts, and felony conspiracy.
Ten of the 11 suspects have been identified as Jose Enrigue, Dominguez Santos, Arturo Gallegos, Miguel Piceno, Francisco Gonzalez, Bailey Sexton, Hector Luis, Raymond Saez, Rivera Gamalier, and Frank Salgado.
Each remains incarcerated with a cash-only bond set between $20,000 and $150,000.

🇨🇦🇺🇸Ontario police seize record number of illegal firearms in transnational smuggling investigation
A joint investigation between Canadian and U.S. authorities has resulted in a "record-breaking" seizure of illegal firearms in Ontario, police say.
Members of the OPP's provincial weapons enforcement unit and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations told reporters that a total of 274 illegal firearms, intended for sale in the Greater Toronto Area, have been seized on both sides of the border.
The 106 firearms confiscated in Ontario mark the largest seizure of handguns and assault-style rifles in the province's history, police said. Of the 168 guns seized in the U.S., most were being smuggled into Ontario through Buffalo, police said, though the investigation reached as far as Florida.
The estimated street value of the firearms and illicit drugs seized in Ontario is just over $3 million, police said. There have been 16 arrests made in Ontario in relation to the investigation.
