According to Haaretz, citing Israeli officers, the Israeli occupation is preparing to turn the city of Rafah in southern Gaza and its adjacent neighborhoods into part of the buffer zone. The area lies between the Philadelphi Corridor in the south and the Morag Corridor in the north.
The city, once home to nearly 200,000 Palestinians before the war, has become nearly empty in recent weeks due to widespread destruction by the Israeli army.
“There’s nothing left to destroy in the perimeter; the place is uninhabitable. There’s no need to send so many troops into these areas,” said an Israeli commander who served over 240 days in Gaza and was involved in demolishing and clearing structures.
Hamas has launched a landmark legal challenge through the British legal team “Riverway Law” against the UK’s 2021 terrorist designation, arguing that the ban criminalizes Palestinian liberation struggles while ignoring Britain’s colonial role in creating the Israeli occupation.
