Alaa Hilles, the head of hospital pharmacy at Gaza’s Health Ministry, says over half of cancer, blood disease medicines unavailable in Gaza and hospitals across Gaza are nearing collapse as Israel's full closure of border crossings enters its seventh week, leading to a severe shortage of medical supplies and medicine.
According to him, these shortages have disrupted services across all departments, including critical areas such as oncology and haematology. Patients of cancer and blood disease are at high risk as these medications are often irreplaceable, and alternatives can be dangerous or ineffective.
He adds that efforts to find alternatives are underway, but many patients' lives remain in jeopardy due to the lack of appropriate replacements.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, "Not a single truck has entered since early March – no matter how critical the supplies."
