The desperate cry of a mother, pleading for help to retrieve the bodies of her two sons lying near the European Hospital after being killed by Israeli forces while searching for bread east of Khan Younis.
The Associated Press (AP) published a new report on Saturday revealing that Israeli forces are systematically using Palestinians as human shields in Gaza.
Seven Palestinians spoke to AP about being used as shields in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Two Israeli military officers also confirmed the practice.
One Israeli officer said orders to “bring a mosquito” often came via radio, a code everyone understood. Soldiers acted on commanding officers’ orders. By the end of his nine months in Gaza, he said, every infantry unit had used a Palestinian as a human shield.

Dr. Alaa Al-Najjar, a paediatrician at Nasser Medical Complex, was treating victims of Israeli attacks when her children were killed in an Israeli strike on their home.
She received nine of her children charred bodies, while the last along with the husband were severely injured. Shortly before the strike, Al-Najjar had left for work with her husband, Hamdi Al-Najjar, who then returned home.
Not long after, an Israeli bombardment struck their house in the Qizan Al-Najjar area in southern Khan Younis, killing nine of their 10 children and wounding the 10th. The children, the eldest aged 12 and the youngest just six months, were severely burned in the bombing.
