FN Cage Question
Hi all. I've had cats and dogs my whole life and I'm ready for something different. One of the options I'm considering is ferrets. I've done research in the past about ferret care etc, but now I'm more seriously looking into specific options.
However I have limited space for a large cage. I don't want to go with a smaller cage as I do work during the day, so they would be locked in the cage for 6 to 8 hours a day. Ferret Nation is one I keep seeing over and over and I really like the look of it. However there's a problem. The only space in my bedroom I could fit it footprint wise is shorter than the total height of the double unit. So I'm wondering if there is a way to remove the bottom shelf/storage area and wheels.
Hopefully I've picked the right flair! It seemed like most of the posts flaired with "help" were about more specifically ferret issues rather than general questions.

Am I selfish for getting a ferret even though it’s hurting my relationship?
Please read if you have time.
In July, I decided to get a ferret. My partner initially liked the idea but later said ferrets smell, need a lot of space and ferret-proofing, and that a dog or cat would have been better. They told me that since we live in my apartment, it was my decision, but they would not help financially.
I got the ferret anyway. His name is Oreo.
The first month was very difficult. I work full-time and handled everything alone: raw food prep, bite training, cage cleaning, vet visits, and all costs. After a few weeks, Oreo stopped biting me and is now very affectionate with me, but he still bites others.
My partner plays with him briefly each day but still gets bitten sometimes. Oreo also bites guests if taken out, so I usually keep him in the cage when other people are around. Despite this, my partner says they feel anxious when Oreo bites someone and has started making comments like “we should have gotten a dog or a cat.”
Recently, they told me they feel neglected because I spend too much time with Oreo. After an argument, my partner said I was selfish for not considering how they and my brother who lives with us would feel, and said they will no longer interact with Oreo at all.
I feel like my relationship is slowly falling apart. Life is harder since getting Oreo, but he also brings me a lot of joy and I see him as my responsibility. I do not know what to do.
Am I actually being selfish? Please be objective.
TL;DR - I got a ferret named Oreo after my partner said it was my choice. I handle all care and costs. The ferret bites others, which causes stress and resentment, and now my relationship is suffering.

so one of my ferrets has discovered radiators, after they have been on, he seems irrestably drawn to lick the zinc? parts of the radiators. distracting him seems of no use. why is he doing it and how to stop him?

Ferret energy?
I feel bad for posting so much in here but im a little worried because my ferrets seemed so much happier before we moved, before they were in their cage and i would let them out to play once for around 6 hours a day, but here they still have their cage and now a whole basement filled with toys they can play in, i dont see them hopping around and being all excited anymore, ill take them out of the basement and let them run around but they domt seem very happy :c is there anything i can do to fix this or have they just grown? (They turned 1 like 3 months ago ^^)

Raw meat
What kind of raw meat are we feeding our ferrets? So far they've had,
Chicken- breast, thighs, liver, heart, testicles
Beef- ground beef, liver, pancreas and kidneys
I've tried ground turkey and ground goat and they refused it so I have to break down which one it was they didn't like.
My local Asian supermarket has lots of pork options like brains, liver, heart etc but I've heard mixed things about pork for ferrets! My girls will only eat a thick blend of whatever meat I make them and I have to sub bonemeal because they always spit out the bone so it all has to be easy for me to blend! I've heard mixed things about pork so any knowledge is appreciated and where to find different meats. Thanks
