Should I give up on dating Moroccan men?
I’m seriously starting to wonder if dating Moroccan men is even worth it for me. I’m looking for a partner who is not religious, not misogynistic, respects women and personal boundaries, doesn’t want kids, and is genuinely kind and emotionally mature.
But honestly, I have no idea where to find someone like that here. Every time I think I’ve met someone different, it always ends up leading back to the same traditional expectations, gender roles, or pressure about religion and having children.
I’m not here to argue or get insulted so please don’t come at me if you’re religious. I respect your right to believe in what you want, but this post is about what I’m personally looking for.

Being a man in Morocco.
Not trying to start a gender war here. I've seen tons of posts about how hard it is to be a woman in Morocco. Here is how it's like to be a man in morocco.
-You're expected to succeed early or you're worthless If you're 25+ without money, a car, a job, or your own place, people will look at you like you've failed at life. Doesn't matter if you're trying.
-Mental health? What's that? Crying? Feeling low? Having anxiety? "man up." TRAJEL M3ANA. We're supposed to be machines.
-Marriage = financial suicide for many guys You're expected to pay for the wedding, the house, the gifts, the everything. Love doesn't matter if you can't afford the bill.
-Divorce usually hits harder than people think you loses money and keep paying child support, and barely sees them (once a week if you lucky) You lose your family, your home, and your peace but you're still expected to smile and pay.
-Men aren't allowed to fail failure is not seen as part of growth. If you start a business and it fails, or drop out of school, or switch careers you're judged instantly
-You're never the victim If a guy gets robbed or beat up, nobody feels bad for him.
-Too religious? You're extreme (Khwanji ). Not religious enough? You're lost and (Dayout) Still single at 30? "What's wrong with you?" There's no winning.
-You don't get love unless you're rich even from your family You can be kind, honest, caring but if you don't have money, you're invisible. And if you propose to a girl they will consider it Ta7arouch
-Men are expected to take risks, but blamed when they fall
-People confuse masculinity with being toxic
-Nobody asks if we're okay. If a woman gets cheated on or heartbroken, she gets support. If a man does, people laugh and say "Hmida star" Machi rajel.
-If you don't fight, you're a coward. If you do, you're violent.
Did I miss something? Ps: again this is not a gender war!

It's 4AM and I Can't Stop Thinking About Gaza
> It’s 4 AM and I still can’t sleep because of what’s happening in Gaza.
What really hurts me is how it feels like no one cares anymore. Especially here in Agadir — I haven’t seen a single protest take place. It honestly feels like people here are living on another planet.
I barely see anyone even posting about Gaza anymore. And yet, people right now are dying from starvation and a complete lack of food.
I’m not trying to judge anyone, but I just don’t understand how this has become something people can scroll past so easily.
Does anyone else feel this way? Or am I alone in thinking this silence is scary?

Why do so many Moroccans abroad act worse than back home?
As a Moroccan girl living abroad, specifically in Germany, and as a proud Moroccan, I often feel sad and even ashamed by what I see, especially when it comes to the Moroccan community in Italy. I’m not generalizing, but the vast majority of Moroccans living there are unfortunately not something to be proud of. It’s hard to say we share the same culture or come from the same country.
If you’ve ever been to Milan, you’ll know what I mean. What some Moroccan guys are doing there is truly disappointing. The way they dress, blasting chaabi music loudly in public spaces and tourist areas, dancing in strange and inappropriate ways, swearing, hitting on random girls, smoking, drinking in the streets… It’s just sad to witness.
And the worst part? They end up shaping the public image of all of us. People assume we are all like that. That’s why many are surprised when they meet Moroccans who are respectful, educated, and behave like normal, decent human beings.
I’m seriously wondering, what’s wrong with our people? Is it a lack of proper education from families? From schools? Why do some of them stay the same or even get worse, even after moving to more civilized and organized countries?
You left your country supposedly looking for a better life, but what’s the point if you just keep repeating or worsening the same behaviors?
This is a real question. I want to understand. Not to judge, but to reflect.

Mosques closed, why?
Hello, I am staying in Agadir for 2 weeks. Me and my wife wanted to pray but apparently the mosques only open before and after set prayer times. I ask myself why? In my homecountry and in Istanbul (as an example) the moques are more or less open the entire day. Why isn't this the case here? People who wish to pray and study in a mosque outside of the prayer times have no means to do so. Is it like this everywhere in Morocco?

I hate the fact that I was schooled at a French school
Other than the marginal benefit in the quality of the education that I received, I continue to detain a very sour taste towards the experience of having been schooled in “La Mission”.
I’m not gonna go in depth into the matter because I don’t feel like it, I’m solely gonna focus on certain aspects that just occurred to me.
Firstly, it is a colonial remnant and serves as a means to extract wealth in the form of fully trained students from France’s former colonial empire. We pay to go to la mission, immense sums, solely to be educated into the norms of the french. Then the majority of us pursue higher education degrees in France, for which we pay, prior to entering the french workforce. This is a system that benefits France and drains Morocco off capable minds that could’ve contributed to its development. It solely benefits France as it acquires fully grown, trained, adult members of its workforce without expending the slightest dime on their upbringing. If the slightest fault appears in the child schooled in these schools, they can cast him/her aside and free themselves of that burden. Once out of this system, Moroccan kids who were schooled since their early days in “la mission” find themselves in an impassee. Namely, an inability to go anywhere else since your arabic skills will be subpar to the standard erected by any private or public school. This brings me to my next point, alienation.
The schools, I consider to be colonial artefacts, and serve to socialize moroccan children into the ways of the french. As such, kids in these schools dwell in insular social circles in which french is the primary language as opposed to the more widely spoken Amazigh and Arabic dialects. Our arabic is often broken, and serves as a tangible barrier between us and the rest of Moroccan society. We not only feel different when we interact with individuals outside our insular circle due to the barriers in habitus and laguage. We find ourselves feeling otherized even within the institution itself. As moroccan children we look and behave differently from our teachers and other educators who are there to socialize us into another way of doing things. This second type of alienation often left me with a feeing of being lesser as a child because I wanted to eat with my hands for example, or aspired to speak Arabic with my classmates. We’re told that the proper way to do things is coincidentally the same way that the french do things and behaving any other way constitutes deviant behavior.
This type of socialization aforementioned is also the reason why kiliminis have no difficulty adapting to the mores of French society when immigrating there, but it also is the reason why they find themselves at odds with the marginalized 2nd and 3rd generation immigrant communities in Framce. Those marginalized communities deriving from an immigration that was primarily brought to fill gaps in the French manual labor pool derived from unfavored moroccan and broadly Maghrebi communities who in addition to the alienation they incur as sidelined members of french society embody a way of being that diverges greatly from that of the Kilimini.
I tried to keep this brief, probably made some typos cuz i dont have my glasses but I wanted to express what’s on my heart.
