Is it worth it?
I don't know if this post should be here or somewhere else, but I think it's okay to be posted here?
I've seen clips of a Linkle mod for botw, and I'm really really tempted to mod my Switch so I can play botw with character mods such as Linkle. I don't know any technical details yet, I'm only aware of the surface-level pros and cons, and I'm not yet sure..
I really want to play as Linkle in botw, but is modding my switch worth it? (And yes, my switch is an old model that's most likely relatively easy to mod). I don't particularly care about online features, but if all I'm modding is a game that has no online competition, and the mod for the game is just a reskin, then would that even affect it? I've watched a few YouTube videos but none of them really answer my questions fully, probably in part because my curiosity is kinda specific lol. So I thought I'd ask in a subreddit for specific answers.

If you want to transfer your screenshots and videos from your Switch to your PC, the USB transfer in the Switch system settings is better than transferring from your SD card
I just figured this out today and wanted to share in case anyone else would find it useful.
You can directly copy your screenshots and videos to your PC with the USB transfer tool in Atmosphere, or by putting the SD card in your PC. But this method isn't very convenient. The files won't have a proper Date Modified field to reflect when they were taken, and they'll have long and cryptic filenames with the ID of the game/application in them. The files will also be in this weird chronological folder structure that's a bit cumbersome; for instance, photos and videos from May 1 2024 will be in the "2024" folder, then the subfolder "05", and then the subfolder "01".
However, if you simply go in the system settings and go to Data Management > Manage Screenshots and Videos > Copy to a Computer via USB Connection, and then connect your Switch to your PC with a USB cable, you'll get a much more convenient way to access your screenshots and videos. The folder structure is much better because each folder is the name of the application, and all the photos/videos for that application are just put in there, and this means the filenames are clearer since they don't have the long game ID in them, plus they'll have the correct date modified value if you care about that. A small little perk is that your OFW/SysNAND media is available alongside your CFW media here; when I use the USB transfer tool only the CFW media is visible.

Heads up: there is an updated and working version of the NX Activity Log
The NX Activity Log at the original repo, which is the one hosted on the HB App Store currently, doesn't seem to work anymore. However, through Googling, I have discovered that there is a fork of the project here with more updates that does still seem to be working as of 18.0. So, if you care to see your activity log and stats, that one seems to be working fine.

2024 How close is the QoL of current Switch Modding compared to current 3ds Modding?
Hello,
I mostly play Xbox and Pokemon but all Nintendo games give me this nice pure little feeling when I play them. Palworld got me back into Pokemon and I bought a used 3ds to mod. I followed the suggested guide and everything went splididly without very much effort. Though my efforts were assisted as the system had already been modded, I just had to update the mods and add my own apps. The process was all very smooth, maybe even easier than hacking a wii back in the day.
Since you guys are the Switch Hacksperts I reckon some of you have tangoed with the 3ds modding as well, do you know how the 2 compare in 2024? Could I buy a paint chipped OLED Switch off of ebay and be playing free Switch games and Virtual Console games with the option for emulators for the Gamecube and such? Thank you everyone for reading, I'd really like to get into it if the quality of life is as seemless as the 3ds in 2024.

Update Atmos 0.16 pre-release to current
Hello friends, I have been away from the SwitchHacks scene from some time. My switch is running Atmos 0.16 pre-release and I was wanting to update to get back in the game. Is there anything special I will have to do when updating from such an old version?
Thank you in advance for your time and patience

[Release] ezRemote Client
[https://github.com/cy33hc/switch-ezremote-client](https://github.com/cy33hc/switch-ezremote-client)
ezRemote Client is a File Manager application that allows you to connect the Switch to remote FTP, SMB, WebDAV servers to transfer and manage files. This supercedes the apps "Switch SMB Client" and "Switch FTP Client".
What's different?
1. For single file operations, no longer need to "Mark" the file/folder with "Y" button before menu items are enabled.
2. Added cut, copy, paste function for local files
3. Added a Text Editor
4. Added support for WebDav server.
5. Single app to access FTP, SMB and WebDav
Tested with following WebDAV server:
* **(Recommeded)** [RClone](https://rclone.org/) \- For hosting your own WebDAV server. You can use RClone WebDAV server as proxy to 70+ public file hosting services (Eg. Google Drive, OneDrive, Mega, dropbox, NextCloud etc..)
* [Dufs](https://github.com/sigoden/dufs) \- For hosting your own WebDAV server.
* [SFTPgo](https://github.com/drakkan/sftpgo) \- For local hosted WebDAV server. Can also be used as a webdav frontend for Cloud Storage like AWS S3, Azure Blob or Google Storage.

New Public Pegascape DNS - Replacement for the Public EOL DNS by noahc3
With the Shutdown of u/noahc3's Public Pegascape DNS a few weeks ago, there's no public way for people including me that rely on Pegascape to easily launch caffeine on ipatched Switches running Firmware 4.x or other Software-Based Exploits on lower Firmwares, effectively locking them out of CFW. While you can self-host your own instance, that still requires some setup and still doesn't make it accessible outside of your home network. And while modchips exist, you really don't have to use them if software-based exploits worked fine for you. To fix this dilemma, I decided to host a public instance of PegaScape on a VPS dedicated to just this one task.
Just replace the IPs for primary and secondary DNS from the current IPs to
141.148.246.60
Then launching Pegascape normally via Fake News should be the same experience as it was before!
The VPS is hosted on an Oracle Cloud Server hosted in Amsterdam/Netherlands, which keeps latency low and stability high for EU Users and latency hopefully as low as possible for the rest of the world. Please keep in mind that I cannot guarantee 24/7 availability, although I really want to deliver it. If it seems to not be working after multiple tries, contact me here, on GBATemp or on Discord. Then I'll have a look.
I want to keep this service up for as long as possible, since I also need it for me. I don't plan to shut it down at any point, however if it'll change, I'll update this post.
Please give me feedback if it runs flawlessly for you.
I also did a quick writeup how to set up your own public Instance on gbatemp:

What are the resistor sizes and values for these burnt ones
Attempted to do some repairs, all was going well until I made a mistake, in multiple attempts to correct I think I messed up the resistors in the pictures:

https://preview.redd.it/db1arbky0e9c1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd2c79d16007a4e30e87c9d535412b3885eccdc1
I am unable to find the exact sizes and resistor values to replace them (yes I'd like to try).
If I am not mistaken, the top right circle is 4.7k? What about the others?
Thanks all.

What is the internal fan maximum current ?
I’d like to convert a broken switch OLED to a docked only console and while I’m at it I would like to upgrade the internal fan to a large one. My question is: is there a risk to blow up the regulator with a 5V PWM PC fan ? I think the fan is on the same voltage regulator as the Joycons, and since I am not using them I suppose there is room for a beefier fan ?
Also is anyone working on a bigger heat sink for « consolized » switches ?
