New player here: Are knockdown shields practically useless or is it just me?
I started watching Apex contet at around Season 17 or 18 and I recently started playing the game around late Season 20 (Nintendo Switch) as it seemed intresting and I finally felt brave enough to give the game a try.
However, I feel that every time I get knocked and my knockdown shield goes up, half the time it doesn't work. Even though from my memory I know how generally wide it is, but sometimes I get shot through it or I get poked when I'm in a general position which makes it extremely hard to do so (like a corner). I initially thought it was lag but my ping is around 50 on a bad day, and due to the lack of kill cams in trios I can't cohesively say if they actually saw the shield up and protecting the spot they were firing at. I've let my teammates use it as cover if they needed it but in terms if actually protecting me, it doesn't protect.
I did look at a handful of clips and it seems like I'm not the only one who has really experienced that kind of issue so I'm kindaaa confused. I feel it's a server issue (because why the hell does this game have a constant tick rate of 20) but I wanna know is it anything more than that? Just a question.
Edit: Yes, I'm aware of Lifeline and Newcastle. Those are the only times when knockdown shields feel most useful (if they have a gold one, but no 100% guarantee).

I’m serious. The amount of people I play with who don’t understand that by grabbing that blue knock early game means we’re more likely to get gold items later is insane.
If everyone has purple we’re guaranteed gold items from here on out.
If you have a lifeline on your team, grab the knocks, helmets, bags the package drops. You’re better off for it. Also please grab and try to hold onto a survival item.

Loss forgiveness is broken in ranked
I just received -60 after a solo game, where my friend got kicked out before legend selection, because the anti-cheat didn't work. Than my pathfinder left or got kicked out in the drop ship. So I jump hot and died. Both of my teammates names disappeared so I couldn't even try to respawn them. It's like the 3rd time this season when I didn't receive loss forgiveness when I should have. Did they remove this feature or it's just a game breaking bug that I shouldn't even be surprised about?

What Legend do you find yourself just playing for character?

Ever since the game came out 5 years ago, I've found myself playing Mirage off and on for sometimes days at a time or at least hours at a time because I find the character fun to just be.
I do use his abilities to the best of my ability of course, but honestly, for some reason I keep telling myself I don't even like his kit that much. Just a slick guy to run around as.
Usually I'm playing Lifeline or Wraith.

Apex is banning virtual machines and it's not in their ToS
My main account was banned several months back. I've been playing with a GPU passthrough for years prior to it. I don't hack but figured maybe something suspect was on my machine. I rebuilt a fresh VM and created another account only to be banned again a mere 3 months later.
When I initially was banned I appealed twice and both times support just confirmed that I was "cheating" with no additional reason or evidence provided.
I just wanted to post here and ask EA/Respawn to include this requirement in their terms of service. It sucks to lose an account that doesn't break the ToS, just because their anti-cheat is now configured to ban for it. Just make it clear so those of us who do utilize VM's will know to not play Apex with the handful of other games that don't allow it.
It does appear that Apex can be run in Proton now, but I've seen conflicting reports of people being banned for using it as well. Early Proton wasn't working for me back when I tried it, thus the VM. It also doesn't help now since the first account banned was my steam account

Wth is wrong with apex right now?
Been playing for about 5 years now and this matchmaking is the worse I’ve seen. I’m no pro by all means, literally have only made it to gold rank twice, most of the time I’m in silver. My question is why the hell am I playing with preds in solo q? I just got into a match with the number 59 pred….like wtf is going on? I love this game but I can’t play solo’s cause I’m matching with preds and masters that beat me like a red headed step child…

Lifelines: Is the very small reduction in revive time really worth giving up the huge DOC cooldown?
It used to be Lifelines that just never revived that were the thing. But now it's Lifelines who don't use DOC; that's the new trigger.

Because that massive cooldown reduction upgrade is just so good, so my eye starts twitching when our team's under fire and the Lifeline's not DOC'ing us, and then I get more antsy when see they've chosen the fast revive perk instead.
... Why!?
You can have DOC on the ground 100% of the time. Or you can have a very small reduction in the time a knocked teammate takes to stand up. Huge buff for the living, or minor buff for the situations that don't exist unless you're already losing.
And yet I feel like it's the easy majority of Lifeline teammates going for the 20% revive speed reduction. I go from feeling "Awesome, Lifeline prolific healing!!" to feeling "Ahhhhh wtf."
Tell me what I'm missing, Lifelines. >_<
