I went to an ALGS event alone. I'm not doing that again.
I've been a massive fan of Apex since the simpler days of the Mastiff and Kraber being the only care package weapons. To speak frankly, I have no Apex friends. Well, I have 1, but he's your typical, run of the mill Apex friend who doesn't enjoy leaving his room, suffers from social anxiety, and whose worst nightmare is large events with lots of people. I was ecstatic to hear that the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs had come to London, England, and of course, my only Apex friend would not come with me, so I decided for the first time ever, to go alone. I was especially excited to see ImperialHal leading TSM against big names such as Sweetdreams with NRG, and Zer0 and Genburten with DarkZero. Whether it was deliberate or not, all my favourite teams were set up right next to each other in the arena, and the nerd in me couldn't get enough of it. It was an amazing, immersive experience which I'd recommend any Apex fan to attend at least once in their life. What I also noticed was how many other people had come alone, just like me, sat around me, watching the same game, probably feeling the same thing. That stuck with me.
I've recently come to realise that my Apex gaming addiction isn't a curse or something to be ashamed of, but more simply my post-work and weekend hobby, and I no longer care about what people think of me about my passion for the game. We're living through an epidemic of loneliness in our generation, which I unfortunately became a victim of last year. I had left my well-paid stable job to travel to Australasia, met loads of new people all over the world who I'm still in contact with today. Despite meeting all these beautiful people, I eventually returned home and fell into the deepest hole I've ever found myself in. My gf broke up with me. I was unemployed, broke, overweight, living with my parents, with no one to reach out to and no support system. I knew something had to change. I eventually found the courage to take myself to therapy, which I'd recommend everyone should do, or at the very least reach out to someone. I discovered that people, myself included, are so concerned that they might be bothering someone with their problems and mental health issues, but imagine this. Imagine hearing that someone significant in your life was struggling mentally and didn't reach out to you, all because they were afraid of burdening you with their issues. Would you feel bothered by them simply reaching out to talk?
I don't have a community, so here I am, writing into an Apex Legends Reddit forum. But I want that to change. I want to bother people, and I want them to bother me too. We're the most connected generation in history, and somehow the loneliest.
There's a point to all of this, I promise. And if you've made it this far, maybe we're not so different. I'm going to the ALGS Championship LAN in Sapporo, Japan, January 28–31 2027. I'd like to meet likeminded fans of the best BR in esports history. And even if that's all it is, come to an unforgettable ALGS event, watch your passion played at the highest level, and have an incredible time with us in Japan. But hopefully, with time, we could bother each other too.
(FYI I'm in a much better place now. Down 15kg, back in work, and looking to move out. This post isn't about self-pity; this is an outstretched hand to others who might be where I was.)
TLDR: I attended the London ALGS event alone, fell into a dark place shortly after, clawed my way out, and now I'm organising a group trip to the ALGS Championship in Sapporo, Japan, January 28–31 2027. If you're an Apex fan who's ever felt disconnected, come with us.

The Solo Q Experience is better somehow
TLDR: Im getting better teammates solo q than on LFG
Just for reference last split was my first season back since season 14 and given its been a while I looked for people to play on the official apex discord. Fortunately i was able to reach Masters for season 28 split 2.
Unfortunately with this season I havent been able to make much progress and had been hardstuck d4.
Out of curiosity yesterday I said let's solo q. Not only was I dropping higher kill games but my random teammates which had NO mic NO coordination just simply doing their part by shooting their gun and q'ing and they as well had a handful of kills EVEN PEOPLE IN GOLD AND PLAT were helping me wipe Diamond and Master teams.
In the past 2 weeks I was hardstuck playing with people who couldn't even shoot their gun or even use their kit even with all the communication. And somehow these randoms do that and I went from D4 all the way to mid D2 in the span of 6 hours without ever saying a word just simply pinging and stacking with these randoms.
I am in no way shaming the people over at the apex discord or LFGs in general but I somewhat am starting to believe that the majority in the community was either boosted or just ratting their way to the top 5 and now that the RP cost is demanding they depended on people to help them get KP or even the win. With the later implementation of mandatory solo q for diamond and higher i believe this is going to show who TRULY deserves to be in diamond and higher which is a net positive change for the competitive experience

broken moon needs serious redesign after taking away most zip rails.
when broken moon was reworked and they took promenade out, a large focus of the map was zip rails. i think much of the map was centered around the fact that there were easily accessible rotates between poi’s. taking them away created way too many narrow and long rotates compared to other maps, especially since much of the map lacks natural environmental cover. it’s frustrating to play because it’s so significantly less fluid than other maps, and the very few “tunnels” they put through hardly help the maps overall feel.

Ranked on console becoming unbearable
Been playing Apex for about 5 years now. Got pred season 5 and season 6, took a break for almost a year and came back. Never saw too many cheaters until recently. Fortunately I missed the "DDOS'ing era. Every season in rank I end up playing in the pred lobbies and I'm completely ok with that. I'm gonna say about 90% of preds and masters have a recoil mod. I barely even know the names of the mods you can use. Now I'm seeing even up to diamond 4s have them. Is there really nothing apex devs can do? It's unfortunately causing us to have no fun in this game man. You almost feel obligated to go buy one but I can't bring myself to do it.
