My thoughts so far of digimon
Wow so where do i begin. Yesterday when i first asked about which digimon games i should start with, i didnt expect to like these 3 games as much as i do. Compared to pokemon, all 3 of these digimon games (although one is a fan game) are vastly different to each other.
Digimon cybersleuth: so far, although im only like 7 hours in, im loving it. Its actually made me laugh, and some dialogue ended up shocking the heck out of me. The gameplay is really good too. Compared to pokemon its more mature, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. As a very big pokemon fan since i was 6, i didnt expect to like this game but so far, im liking it alot more than most pokemon games ive played. Just sucks there isnt an equivalent to shiny hunting.
Digital tamers 2: well this one i didnt expect to like at all. But i love it as well. The gameplay loop, the adrenaline of collecting data for a new digimon you really want to have, and the sprites are amazing.
Digimon world next order: so this is the one i was most curious about out of the 3. A monster catching game where your monsters can die (i didnt know most digimon things had death but apparently its fairly major. The concept of rebirth ive seen mentioned in multiple pieces of videos and some of these games so sorry for my ignorance lol) made me curious. Im not dissapointed. I dont like how you cant catch other digimon and are stuck with only 2, but i understand that its also, like rebirthing, super important to only have 1 active partner or a small number. It makes you more attached to them so it has its benefits for the limit, it just kinda dissapointed me a little.
Overall thoughts: i owe this ip a huge apology. When i was younger i shrugged it off as a pokemon clone. But God. I was so wrong, and am so sorry. I missed out. It really sucks that digimon isnt nearly as popular as pokemon, because theres so much more to love. The designs of the monsters, the animations, the lore, all of these aspects are amazing and in my opinion are done better than in most pokemon games. I also want to thank the fandom and community, whom have been super welcoming and helpful. Im sorry for the long post, but hopefully more people decide to give digimon a try.
